bubblagirl,

Had a look at your profile.

Is this proposed Statement coming from Basildon LEA?.

Pay very close attention to Parts 2 and 3; these are the most important parts on this document. Beware of either woolly or vague sounding provision - you need defined provision and number of hours per week. IPSEA would tell you what it should say if you're unsure. Also ask here on these pages.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you as well (have had such dealings with Baz myself).

bubblagirl · 08/05/2009 16:35

yes it is with them and thank you for the warnings

if needed can i write what written on here and someone can help me make sure its ok as im unsure myself its all new to me

thanks xx

Hi bubblagirl

Thought it was Basildon, know them well.

Am waiting on my DS's updated statement from them (she says with a tapping of fingers emoticon but am not expecting it to appear till the autumn term).

Baz LEA ought to state a set number of hours in part 3.

I will warn you now; you may not get all the hours you're after.

What they may do is give a set number of hours in the Statement (well they should do anyway), the school should top up with additional hours (but that won't be necessarily included or detailed in the doc you receive). You need it all in writing, particularly the number of additional hours that his future school will provide. Are you looking also for your DS to receive lunchtime support as well?.

Sounds like your DS will be going to a nice school.

If you're not sure about Parts 2 or 3 ask on here and talk to an independent organisation like IPSEA, ACE or SOS:SEN. They'll tell you what it should say!.

Keeping fingers crossed for you.

Bubblagirl,

Apologies if you know this already.

The Statement once agreed is reviewed yearly.

When your DS moves up to Junior School, the Statement is rewritten by the LEA to reflect the name of the new school. They may at that time change the statement wording along with the hours of support.

Phoenix4725 · 08/05/2009 18:28

bubblagirl

i am hopin to get ds into A sn school have um and ar about it for long time but the fact they have their own f/t salt employed direct by them
.I just dont think he would cope in ms without lots of support even then think he will find himself isolated ,inclusion but exclusion

but feeling i am going have to fight the lea for it

I come under Colchester early years but not sure if they hav just the one office when it comes to statements

hand holding I will need a bottle glass of wine to cope

bubblagirl · 08/05/2009 18:32

thanks Attila i know nothing thats why im so worried lol thank you that was useful i have already said i want the school hours outside of statement in writing

yes he will need lunchtime support too as lack of communication to others and obviously social skills

Hi Phoenix

Essex is divided by areas (Bubblagirl and I are in South Essex) and there is more than one office within this county that issue statements.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 08/05/2009 18:43

Hi Bubblagirl,

Baz may not give you lunchtime support readily and may well not specify any lunchtime support within the Statement (as lunchtime support costs money!).

Do put any concerns you have re Parts 2 and 3 on here.

BTW his future school won't be named on the proposed Statement, that will be added once its agreed by all parties.
