AIBU to object to being told how I should think

that I should not be joyful or positive about dd and her disabilitie, that I should post doom and gloom, as if I don't I am only showing a biased veiw.
I don't seem to be allowed to post that my life is good, that I am happy and dd is a pleasure.

Riven, 2shoes, Eidsvold...how dare you suggest your DCs have a PERSONALITY.
DD is starting to lie, and I find this hilarious. It only extends to saying one thing is something else (e.g. calling a tractor a crocodile) but it's really funny to see how some people just don't get it and think that she doesn't know the proper names for things!! Her speech therapist was really pleased
lol at the maths class

Shhh don't tell anyone but I've allowed my burden to be outside in the sunshine today.

What will the neighbours say, they must think me such a hard cruel mother.
No longer will they whisper as i pass, with my head hung, there she is the one with that child

coppertop · 21/09/2008 20:59

Anonandlikeit's neighbours respond to her scandalous behaviour.

2shoes · 21/09/2008 23:05

well my burden who prevents us from doing anything that 'normal' families do - has just spent the morning at the zoo - along with the rest of us. She loved the animals and generally was fine. She walked nicely all through the zoo gardens and was very gentle ( oops minus the pull of a kangaroo tail) BUT she had a ball.

oh no - they did have a dsaq ( down syndrome association) family day there a few weeks ago. Just first day of school holidays and dh is off this week so we went for a morning to the zoo. We do have tickets for poor benighted souls to attend a magic show at the weekend BUT we probably won't go.

r3dh3d · 22/09/2008 08:32

How did you all get to be benighted? Was there a box I should have ticked on the DLA form? [worriedbadmothersmiley]

Pass the gin again, Riven.

oh us lucky people here in Aus also get a carers card - if you get a carer payment or carer allowance (sort of like DLA but for the carer here in Aus)

That carer's card entitles you to discounts from all sorts of businesses and places - any business that offers a service or a good can sign up to it and us benighted parents are able to get discounts when you produce the card. I have not used mine yet - want to but have not found a need for it yet. Of course the huge supermarkets etc have not signed up for it - should shame them into it I guess.

eidsvold · 22/09/2008 09:13

info here I see it is just qld but I am sure it is available nationwide.

Better not be too excited about it.

oh that reminds me of a funny story.
a mum I know confided it in me

her son had his first seizure, so she dialed 999.
the ambulance man came and asked her questions.
"can he walk"
"no"

"can he talk"
"no"

"can he sit up"
"no"

It was only after loads of these questions she realised that she hadn't told them her ds had cp
