I dont think they look at the COC in date order as I sent mine In for my daughter scan date was 17/09/25 award was previously for Autism/ADHD sensory needs at HRC, LRM but submitted COC due to Leukaemia diagnosis in July, did not tick the special rules box as not a terminal diagnosis. I received a letter to say it had been Awarded at the same level as last time on Monday, I rang and spoke to a Lady and asked them to get the decision maker to look at it again as it looks like it had just been Put through as a renewal not a COC, renewal was due Feb 26 and new award letter was Feb 26 till Feb 28. The lady said to ring up next week if I hadnt heard anything but I had a payment of £47.85 go into my bank today, so I rang up this morning and the award has been changed to HRC and HRM. Payment was 1 week difference between LRM & HRM. So it took 4 weeks to do my COC and I have no idea why it was processed so quickly was expecting to have to wait till renewal in Feb before it was sorted.

congrats on your award but really sorry for the circumstances that you need the award🥺 Wonder if you put a COC in now or at least since August they are being done early, sort of like the new claims being done in 6/7 weeks from July but people from May/June are taking longer and seem to stick in the back log X

Congratulations on your award and I’m so sorry for your child’s diagnosis 😞 I wonder if they class it as an urgent claim when I child has been diagnosed with something like that? Especially with changing it to hrm so quickly aswell? I’m glad you’ve not had to wait a long wait for coc it sounds like you have enough going on without waiting 30 weeks.

Tyls94 · 17/10/2025 21:42

Hi! We submitted a COC a few weeks ago, my little boy was born at 28 weeks, now a year old he no longer needs oxygen which is amazing.

My question is, when they stop the payments will they also ask for the money back from when I informed them he no longer needs the oxygen? Just need to know if I should be saving this up to give back?

Your still on here, it feels like ages ago you received your decision and I’m still waiting 😞 how long did they award your daughter for in the end?

2 years, her original claim ends in jan 2027 and they extended it until march 2027. I keep coming on every other day to see if you and a few others have got your decisions yet. I feel invested after being here with you for so long

Yes they can. Any department that administers benefits etc; can have random audit checks and internal reviews.

It went in favour of my son and his award was changed and they gave it to him indefinitely

Indefinite awards are given if the persons circumstances are unlikely to change.
Although eventually you/your son will be asked to make a claim for PIP.
Are you an appointee for your son?

They shouldn’t look at the care side of it if you only ticked mobility, I can’t imagine you sent anything in or filled out the care side of it so it would be unfair for them to make a decision for it. It’s this long wait that’s making you question it 😞 30 weeks is far to long! Did say you was doing hrm under vuw or smi?

I did only tick mobility, but I saw further up they will check the whole claim, I didn't put anything down for his care, so I'm worried they will think he no longer has any needs.
This wait has been awful, when I first did it, it was 25 weeks, the IV said about if you hit 25 weeks, call and they'll look into it, then I got to that and it all got taken down and no further updates, now its with a DM, they won't give any incline of how long that could be, I don't see the point in them having a job! I applied under SMI, but I didn't know about it until after I sent it in, so I'm hoping everything I've put and sent in, is enough, if not then its in to MR

Edited

I am yes, it was around 2 years ago this happened to him, hes only 6 now so weve around 10 years before weve to think of pip. I really thought they'd of gave my daughters award for longer given the fact her condition is progressive but hey ho, it is what it is.

Thanks.
I received the payment on 16 October
I called DLA and asked what the payment was for and they told me it was care component but no mobility. And the letter il receive should explain why.
The main issue with mobility I wrote down was no awareness of danger, darts off etc

Get a statement of reasons that’ll explain a lot. When did you put in for the MR?

If it's pending and will be paid on Monday it's most likely Middle Rate for care (11 weeks (since 5/8) x 73.90 = 812.90).

Scaffwife · 18/10/2025 15:37

Anyone else feel with all the talk on mobility in the news and the upcoming budget …this is why there are so many declines

Nope still waiting i will be 28 weeks on Tuesday and then it will be half term until im 30 weeks so hopefully it will go quicker with the kids at home. You would think if a child needs hrc and hrm then their needs are high enough for a longer award.

I hope you won’t have to do a MR after this long wait! It would be totally wrong of them if they was to look at the care side of it if you only ticked mobility, unless they get the original form up to look at the care side? Surely Monday has got to be your day for a decision.

It does worry me that our children won’t be given what they need, they are trying to make cuts in the wrong places 😞

They say 3-5 working days but usually the payment would go in on a Monday if you were awarded Wednesday. What words did the text say? They send out 2 different messages.
