Do MRs take as long as new claims? In northern ireland new claims are only taking around 6 weeks so I'm not sure if I should expect to hear from the MR around the 6 week mark or is it much longer?

My 3 year old daughter was just awarded middle rate care no mobility. She is profoundly disabled and cannot walk at all and they've refused her mobility! I am utterly disgusted and disappointed 😞 how can they deny her mobility when she's unable to walk? Not to mention she has tonnes of night time care needs. We put in an MR God knows how long that's going to take. Original claim only took 6/7 weeks to get a decision

oh my goodness! did you put the application in after she was already 3? i can’t think how they misread your form as being unable to walk at 3 is a route to hrm by itself (this is what i’ve applied for) wishing you luck with your MR x

Not sure about NI but in the uk MRs are currently taking around 25-29 weeks apparently. I hope you have a much speedier process than we do

Is anyone waiting still for new claims Nov or December? I'm mid December and no news yet!

SoapyMcSoapface · 28/04/2025 09:27

Positive post! 🎉

I actually can’t believe I’m typing this after a 19+4 week wait. The wait towards the end had become horrendous.
Phoned first thing this morning and my son has been awarded MRC + LRM until 2028. I can’t believe it. I cried on the phone when she told me, it is such a relief that we can get him some of the help he needs now. I had become convinced they wouldn’t read my pages of evidence and I’d have to take this to an MR.

I didn’t get a text despite repeatedly asking for one! The lady on the phone said the decision was made last Wednesday, 23rd April, back pay should be in tomorrow. She also said that NC are taking 20 weeks at the moment.
Good luck to everyone still waiting, I hope you all get what your children rightly deserve 💕

Mags2025 · 28/04/2025 10:21

NC 18/12 awarded! MC and LM. So so happy for my son 🥺

Sunflower1650 · 28/04/2025 10:23

Can anyone help please? A few weeks ago I sent in the DLA form for a NC and I didn’t fill out question 38, a report from someone who knows the child, because the SENCO at school/paediatrician/OT either didn’t respond or told me they don’t get involved with DLA because of lack of time. However I’ve since realised this could be completed by a family member (originally I didn’t think it could). I have additional reports to send in to DLA, can I send a report for question 38 now with the additional evidence? Or will they disregard it because I didn’t provide one at the time of sending it?

6-7 weeks , blimey? When was your scan date and bow long were you backdated? You seriously need to look at asking again for HRC AND HRM. If your daughter is profoundly disabled, then she acquires more.

Wow, I'm originally from NORTHERN IRELAND, now living in England. Over here, it's longer waiting times. Haha, 6-7 weeks would be a dream come true for everyone.

Judgejudysno1fan · 28/04/2025 10:56

Thousands of claims were sent in, in December hence why getting through December's take longer. The lady I spoke with told me that on one particular day, they received 5000 claims!!!!!!! As soon as they get through decembers, I think things will speed up quicker!

I'm so nervous thinking of my little one getting lrc. But this is a life long disease/health condition on meds everyday so I'm.hoping at least minimum she gets is mrc and lrm. Staying optimistic and trusting in.God all the way!

I've just phoned again, coc 31/10 not with DM but apparently now been marked as urgent as I should have had a descion by now. He said give a couple of days and it should hopefully have been done, and requested a text message. I'm not holding my breath!

I've sent additional evidence so rang to make sure they will attach it to the claim before making decision however they said decision has already been made.

Thank you, it’s such a relief. It’s actually shocking that so many of us have to go through the stress and anxiety of waiting almost 6 months (or a year or more if it has to go to MR or tribunal), on top of the daily demands of caring for our children. I hope they can bring down the horrendous wait times because they are cruel. I’m grateful to the lovely people like you on these threads for helping to keep me sane during the wait! 😊
