DLA WAITING TIME THREAD 67

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

@GladMintPoster They are currently on Oct Nov and the first two weeks of December new claims... The claims are currently moving in 10 week cycles to clear the backlog and get wait times down since Christmas.. Hope this helps

Edited

Thank you, this wait is excruciating.

@StanleyParents Fingers crossed for you.. What diagnosis does your child have for HRM?

He is 8 and has a diagnosis of ASD and a Learning Disability.

Based on my understanding for him to be entitled to HRM he needs to demonstrate: "severe mental impairment and behavioral problems" constant meltdowns alongside he is mostly non verbal and does not see danger, he cannot be trusted to walk independently at all.

He requires around the clock care and attends a resource unit with a 1-2-1 to care for his needs.

Based on what I've read and researched I believe he meets the criteria, but you never know

25/11 called today and my extra evidence I send at end of Feb has gone missing, but was told not to worry as claims taking full 25 weeks

Im unsure why they keep spewing this 25 week nonsense to us all as a lot of claims are being done around 18/19 weeks currently.

I just spoke to a call handler and asked for an update on my claim, asked if its even been assigned to anyone yet for a decision and was told they cannot give me this information.
This isnt true is it?!

Well hopefully we'll hear soon I don't think I can cope waiting much longer

I was absolutely fine until i got to this point and seeing claims days before our date being decided, and now my anxiety is through the roof! X

I thought id give them a quick call, no decision yet, however i asked if it is with a dm yet and she told me they are not allowed to advise me with that information!!! Yet when i called 2 weeks ago i was advised it wasnt yet 🤣

It’s crazy how every call handler has a different answer, I’m on hold still for the option 4 been 20 minutes I don’t think they will answer now it’s gone past 5 🤦‍♀️ really hope you get some news soon 🤞

@1senmum2another No that isn't true.. But depends what option you chose when you called the normal dla update option they seem to just be making things up as they go along and saying anything which is completely unacceptable.. Option 4 is the general enquiry it's a different department ( still within dla) and they seem to give better updates...

Scan date 22/11
just called and they said they have made a decision today and a letter has been sent in the post. She said she doesn’t have access to find out what the decision is and can’t put me through to anyone and I need to wait 7-14 for the letter. Does this sound like a decline? She didn’t say anything about a text. Feel worried sick now that it’s a decline and will have to wait another 25 weeks without my son getting a one to one at school 😩

Hi I’m in the same boat. NC SD 19/11 they told me today decision was made on 21st and wait for the letter as they can’t tell me what the decision is x

It’s so frustrating! They need to change the system to email or text rather than just letters, would be so much better that way they could do regular updates too, good luck 🤞x

PositivityRipples · 25/03/2025 17:20

@Disney101101 @MistandFog2024 They can tell you over the phone you have to choose option 4 on the last option.. Lines close at 5pm..
Let us know how you get on 💫

Yes I’ve been using the normal update option, not the option 4 one which gives you rates etc you have been awarded.
Not once have i been told i cant be given the information of whether its been assigned to someone yet!

Jhunte · 25/03/2025 17:22

MR 15/10 called at 4.30pm and told a decision was made today and to wait for letter wouldn't give any other info. Called back option 4 got cut off after 20 mins on hold just tried to call back lines closed. So frustrating!

Disney101101 · 25/03/2025 17:26

I’m still on hold have been 40mins now I feel like I’m going to get cut off but don’t want to put it down myself just incase 🤞will try again at 9 if no one answers

Sorry you got through to a person like this... both times for both my children, they were able to tell me what date the award was until but couldnt tell me more info and put me through to the people who could. The fact they are telling you they cant put you through either means you are getting someone incompetent or its a decline and they dont want to discuss... :(

MistandFog2024 · 25/03/2025 17:32

Is it acceptable to call twice in 1 day to see if a decision has been made?
MR 4/10
it’s been such a long wait and they’ve told me a decision has to be made this week

First person I've seen in the exact same position and date as us! 💕

Ohh first MR after us I've seen with a decision made. Fingers crossed it's a good one for you.

On another note, why does it feel they're suddenly not telling people the decision 🤔 I've seen a couple of posts the same the last few days!
