DLA WAITING TIME THREAD 67

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

Hi does anyone know how long it takes to receive the letter with a decision. My son has been awarded but just wanted to double check dates before I informed universal credit of his higher rate x

Money was in my account on 9.04 and I got a letter today- 11.04.

@PositivityRipples hi, sorry I've been watching this thread for a while. I see you work at hrmc? Do you have any idea if the December applicants are getting awarded? My scan date is the 13/12, NC.

I have twins boys both non-verbal autisc and GDD. Its been 17 weeks exactly today.
Every time I call i get the 25 week wait speech and that's all.
Thank you.

@Amirah007 Yes they are on Dec new claim scan dates... Currently 15th Nov to 15th Jan..
Hopefully you haven't got much longer to wait now 💫

Thankyou. I received money on the same date and also received letter today 🥰 has your child been awarded a higher rate? I've just informed UC, wondering if they will back date the disabled child element from when DLA has x

I don't see why they wouldn't asking as you justify it.

Good luck! Hopefully only a little while for me to go (and then another 16 week wait for my daughter's NC haha)

Mamto3boysX · 11/04/2025 21:49

Hi everyone, would I just write in a message to my work coach on universal credit to let them know my son has been awarded his renewal at the higher rate? Or do I need to go on a change of circumstances? X

Babylipswifey · 11/04/2025 21:56

hey does anyone know how I get my child’s reference number

@Mamto3boysX You would need to do a change of circumstance from the date the award changed... Then write a journal message to request back payment 💫

If you have been awarded dla they get a national insurance number no matter what age the child is so this is used as your child's reference number and would be on the dla paperwork

Mamto3boysX · 11/04/2025 23:02

Thankyou, I've already wrote a note on but till go on now to do change of circumstances x

It’s a nc for my little boy

it will be on the letter you get a few weeks after they receive the application form. The one stating it can take up to 15 weeks etc

Is there not a way to get it before sending off the claim

Sorry I think I misread. If you’re talking about child’s reference number on the application form then it’s normally a national insurance number. But children under 16 don’t normally have one of those. You can send it in without the reference number and if your claim is successful your child’s reference number will be on the award letter to use for future correspondence or when you need to renew.

hope this makes sense

Has anybody been awarded yet around this time? I called yesterday and got the usual allow 20-25 weeks call back in June if you've not heard anything!

Judgejudysno1fan · 12/04/2025 08:05

PositivityRipples · 11/04/2025 20:49

@Judgejudysno1fan Nobody was rude to you.. Least of all me 🙃

No worries, it was maybe just the way I read the message.

Judgejudysno1fan · 12/04/2025 08:05

From someone else, that is.

s39 · 12/04/2025 08:08

Time for another thread @zoeybrooks45 can’t believe how fast they fill up 😩

Judgejudysno1fan · 12/04/2025 10:47

I’m still waiting from October it’s been over 25 weeks now 🤦‍♀️

Is that a new claim? Is it with a decision maker yet?

Fourandme · 12/04/2025 13:46

Yeah , it’s a new claim with lots of evidence and reports from neurology and camhs so I thought it would be straight forward.
they say they can’t tell me anything when I phone however they have everything they need they say .

I crammed in all my dc reports, hospital letters and personal statements, evidence of over night stays and treatments long term. I'm trying to keep optimistic about it but they get hundreds.
the lady I spoke with yesterday said they're working through a huge backlog as at what point in December they got 5000 claims in one day! 5000, my goodness. Can you imagine. And that's just one day, what about all the other days. So I presume they're still going through heaps of new claims etc that are all from months ago. And there's several posters on here waiting since October!
I'm just trying to remain positive as someone not long up in the thread said 15 weeks which is quite good. I got the form in mid Feb, but they scanned it April 1st, so I'm looking at mid September. Still have to then go through the process of uc disabled child element, carers allowance, carers element as well.
And she said that's if you get it. I said to her well this is a lifelong disease so she should really get it, and I'd be surprised if we are rejected or even given lower rate care.
Just hoping for the best outcome for everyone 💐
