DLA WAITING TIME THREAD 67

1000 replies

zoeybrooks45 · 25/03/2025 10:48

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

@LoudAquaViper I was panicking yesterday as well because I’ve seen loads of scan dates past mine get rewarded, so I thought mine would’ve been a decline, but then someone explained it to me differently.

Amirah007 · 11/04/2025 07:57

@Mumof1xox aww thank you, I may call today ask them if it's with a DM. I hope it's not long now x.

Mumof1xox · 11/04/2025 07:58

Edited

Yeah I read that which was a nice read. Put some minds at ease anyway. Only thing I don’t understand still is why people from beginning of January are getting a DM before me 😂

Good luck.

Mumof1xox · 11/04/2025 08:25

@LoudAquaViper I think some cases are very straight forward and they sent in loads of evidence so I’m guessing they got rewarded straight away.

On the letter they sent me with the change of circumstances form it says it needs to be back by a certain date which makes me wonder if it will be backdated to the day i requested the forms. My daughters forms was only scanned on Tuesday so a long wait but hopefully worth it in the end, when I first applied she was 3 and hadn’t been seen by anyone but now shes been diagnosed through community paediatrician, has a ehcp, IEP, SALT, Dietitian, Bowel and bladder, cardiology, educational psychologist, a lot can happen in a year 😵‍💫

When I first rang for my sons COC it was the 2/10 the woman i spoke to had said it would be backdated to 2nd oct if there is an increase like i think there should be and forms we're back in time. I sent forms back on 24/10 would of been received 25/10 before there 4week deadline for returning but my SD was actually 2 weeks later 8/11 so over the week mark so I don't know how that will work for my sons claim I think it will only be backdated to the 8/11. When they sent me the forms I thought it wouldnof been a different form to what I originally filled in but it was from memory the exact same for as if it was like I was making a new claim. I first claimed for my son when he was 4 going on 5 years old and he's not long turned 10 amd had no sort of renewal in-between which seeing some posts I've seen I don't think this is right either but I can't find the original award to see when my son was awarded to.
Alot can definitely change in a year! Well done mummy for getting all your little one needs on board and met and for being so strong for your little one! Xx

I'm so sorry guys I've got so bad news for everyone ... THE CALL HANDLERS ARE FIBBING !

I am currently on the phone to dispute team he has informed me I was allocated with a case manager on the 9th april ... he's absolutely gobsmacked that I was told it was with a case manager on the 6th March. He said there are currently 1700 people in the queue and he cannot apologise enough that I was told this incorrect information.

Judgejudysno1fan · 11/04/2025 09:18

LoudAquaViper · 11/04/2025 07:24

I’m still confused as to how the cases get allocated. I get if they need further information they move forward whilst they wait. But how does others 3 weeks behind you get awarded before my boys not even been allocated a DM?

congrats to everyone that’s been awarded!

Maybe some people were easier to sort, more evidence, easier to get hold of services that help their child. I was thinking because I enclosed a letter full of the diagnosis notes and Dr's personal letter and specialist letter, i thought would help bump it up. Does not make a blind bit of difference. You could get pregnant and find out the gender before it even gets to Dm.

Hope it goes quicker for you and you get awarded soon. It is a really long wait and a palaver. I am astounded though at also how some people got theirs before others whom have been waiting longer. I guess it just takes a long time as they say They have medical professionals who call up doctors, hospitals, schools etc to verify and get more information. My dc main specialist is so busy you can never ever get hold of him it's impossible so I'm really worried about that but there is a second specialist that gave a personal reference letter to put in my dla form and thankfully he's more access.i was really freaking about that. I was saying they will never speak to Dr Greenmill, so that's her DLA claim down the toilet.

Hopefully yours is coming up. I want to ring too but I haven't been waiting that long but I never got a letter to say they had it just a text so I might ring in to pretend to not have a clue what's going on.

What I'm thinking also, shoved everything they could find into the envelope.

Does he mean 1700 people infront of you?
This is not right or fair at all

ByChirpy · 11/04/2025 09:39

I've just rang myself COC 8/11 22 weeks
Still in a holding queue but said likely 25 weeks, didn't mention 29weeks to me so I'm expecting the 29week talk at the 24 weeks mark 🤯🤯🤯

No unfortunately that's behind me I'm currently 2nd in queue and my case will be looked at on Monday he messaged the case manager while I was on the phone and she responded 2 minutes after.

This is why it's so stressful because every call handler has something different to say but stick to the 25 week story! I can't imagine your frustration...

I just called again I was told this time , as my claim is due to for renewal on 6th May , my coc & renewal will be done at the same time , but I’m looking at another 2/3 weeks wait it will be done just before the claim is due to end ….literally get told different things every time I call …so so so bad!!! 🤬

Justanothermum31 · 11/04/2025 10:08

For that to also be true there would have to be only one dm for MRs or is that only the case with the dm that has your case? I’m 25 weeks on Wednesday I already went through to the dispute line and spoke to a dm not long ago and she explained they are two weeks behind and was currently working on 8th October. I’m going make a complaint today no point in waiting around when everyone just talks rubbish.

Foreverlearning88 · 11/04/2025 10:10

They really don't help themselves. Why doesn't the system have an online tracker to be able to log roughly what stage the claim is at? Would save so many stressed out parents/carers having to call and probably put more pressure on the staff who are already busy themselves?

Does anyone know if they ring, is it a private number as ive had 2 calls this week from private numbers but I don't answer them 🤪
