DLA WAITING TIME THREAD 67

1000 replies

zoeybrooks45 · 25/03/2025 10:48

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

i appreciate everyone is struggling but how do they prioritise people who already have a claim awarded and disputing amounts to people who have no award at all. It’s so frustrating when the bottom of the barrel is the people who have absolutely no award and waited the longest time then you have to read all this and what people are fighting for and it just doesn’t seem fair.

No unfortunately that's behind me I'm currently 2nd in queue and my case will be looked at on Monday he messaged the case manager while I was on the phone and she responded 2 minutes after.

Ahh that brilliant news for you! I was fuming for you when I thought you'd been told it was with dm but there was actually 1700 infront of you. So brilliant news for you good luck xxx

For that to also be true there would have to be only one dm for MRs or is that only the case with the dm that has your case? I’m 25 weeks on Wednesday I already went through to the dispute line and spoke to a dm not long ago and she explained they are two weeks behind and was currently working on 8th October. I’m going make a complaint today no point in waiting around when everyone just talks rubbish.

I'm not sure how many case managers there are but he told me they are currently working on 16/17th October MRs and when he asked the cm she said that my sons will be on Monday and he's said to call on Wednesday.
Obviously the same cm from when it was a new claim isn't allowed to work on it so will be allocated to a different cm , he did also under his breath say "let me see if she's working today" so I'm guessing they the cm have a shift schedule rather than mon-friday. Which would be ridiculous.
He also added he can't request a text message for result and the call handlers shouldn't be telling us that they will call, text or send a letter.

I'm a mr those and coc are taking longest new claims are getting done quicker than any of those there not going to put a new claims in front if a renewal so that that person has to lose there claim and start the whole procedure all over again

I just called again I was told this time , as my claim is due to for renewal on 6th May , my coc & renewal will be done at the same time , but I’m looking at another 2/3 weeks wait it will be done just before the claim is due to end ….literally get told different things every time I call …so so so bad!!! 🤬

This is really bad they need to just be honest and set expectations lower by telling the right waiting times. There is a silver lining I guess which is you don't have to do coc and then go onto renewal aswell or have you had to refill all the forms again for the renewal after sending Coc forms too? xx

I was told by dla New claims are actually being prioritised then its renewals and then MRS and lastly change of circumstances(existing claims) which is what my sons claim is for. I think new claims are taking around 18 weeks renewals and mrs upto 25weeks and change of circumstances are between 25 and 29 weeks currently. I sent my sons coc claim back in October and it's still in holding queue to be assigned a case worker 🫣

I think Renewals are only being prioritised when the end date is close rather than when you have sent everything in to be honest.

I had to send in a whole new renewal form even know it was identical to the coc form , thankfully they said though don’t send in evidence for it as they already had the coc evidence & it would of been duplication … can you imagine if we took 25+ weeks to give them the information they needed …why is it ok for them to take forever , the gov bang on about letting them know about coc and how important it is!! & when we do they make us wait the longest …. Probably because generally it’s not in their favour!!!

candywoo · 11/04/2025 11:14

Nc sd 30th December and already been awarded. I don’t think there is any set way they go through claims and I waited the full 20 or so weeks for my DD who was awarded last month. For anyone wondering this claim was for my nearly 3 year old who was diagnosed ASD and GDD at 2.5 so I had those reports, portage reports, preschool reports, SALT reports and a statement from his preschool. I know the wait is horrible.

Judgejudysno1fan · 11/04/2025 11:33

I just called and acted casual. She said 25 weeks for new claims and Mr and renewals are going quicker!!!! ehhhhhh......

Minnie83 · 11/04/2025 11:39

My daughters renewal didn't get looked at until 3 days before it due to end, carers stopped an everything. What a shambles. I don't know why it says 15 weeks wait on the letter for nc if they say 25 weeks when u ring up. Its ridiculous

Hdbella · 11/04/2025 11:46

Im alsmost 27 weeks mr, just called got put through to dispute, he told me they get sent to dm in lots of 10 and mine should be dealt with in next 2 days, im hoping to hear latest wednesday next week x

Yes I agree my post isn't worded correctly looking back, they did say to me that new claims and short dates renewals are priorities before the likes of mrs and coc like my sons coc which I'm fine with although don't appreciate the longest wait but it is what it is 🤣 I just wanted to give the information id been given to justanothermum31 x

Oh how ridiculous is it to get you to fill it in all over again even though they have a full form filled out! I know when I first rang up I was told it would only take 8 weeks so to go from 8 weeks to 25+ is awful and we are bottom of the list on priorities. Although hopefully for you with the renewal you should hear something sooner 🤞🤞🤞
I've spoken to them this morning to question the scan date as I actually posted claim on 24/10 they received it 25/10 but scanned it on 8/11 so it would show that I was late posting it back to them due to the sd My deadline to return was 31/10. So they said they would make a note of the date being 25/10 received instead of 8/11due to backlog of scanning. She didn't make it very clear if my scan date would now be 25/10 meaning I am now at 24 weeks today rather then 22 weeks so gives me a reason to ring back next week and see what they say xx

Twardle · 11/04/2025 12:57

Nc scan date 4/12
Called on Tuesday 8th was assigned case manager. Called today and was approved on the 9th 😁 (one day)
Middle rate care and low rate moblity so happy for my little one. I was panicking that he would get a decline as after seeing others post their (paragraphs) of info I only put a sentence into the form questions. I'm only a young mum and forms are my worst nightmare. Could anyone tell me how long it takes to recived the payment if it was sent out on the 9th.
Got My fingers and toes cross for all. Best of look in your application

NC scan date 13/01
i was just wondering if anyone knows if they definitely contact the professional that has written a little paragraph on the original forms? I’m happy for them too was just curious.
Also I actually filled the forms out in October last year and gave them to my sons school to fill out their part early November, the date I was supposed to send in the forms by was the 5th of December but even after constantly asking the school only gave them back to me on the 11th of January! Will that matter at all?

Hi,
I’ve just received a call from a DM and he was just querying my address. He then said my son was awarded but wouldn’t say what. He said expect a letter in 5-7 days.
Is there any way of finding out the award or do I have to be patient.
My scan date they received this was 6th December awarded today 11th April. Exactly 18 weeks.

can I call later on or will they not say at all?

You'll probably be able to work it out when it hits your bank I'd ring again x

NC 12/12
I phoned this morning to check if they had received the extra evidence I sent in last week. The friendly lady on the phone confirmed it had been scanned on, and then (without me asking) told me that it had been assigned to a DM this very morning and said “That's good, you should hear a decision in the next couple of weeks”
She explained that 2 or 3 claims are assigned to a DM at a time and they work on them simultaneously.
Nerves have really kicked in now!

NC SD 17.01 (form requested 9.12)

just checked my bank balance and have been paid £1722 by DWP. Assume claim successful although haven’t received a letter or text or call.

Am surprised as I expected a much longer wait.

(playing catching up here) congratulations to you!! I'm NC 22/01.

It will only be backdated to the day they scanned it onto the system on 13/01. They only backdate to when you call if you had the forms back in time
