DLA WAIT TIME THREAD 62

1000 replies

zoeybrooks45 · 11/01/2025 22:06

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.
DLA contact number is 121 4600 0800 121 4600

I thought it was bad when I got to 15 weeks but now it’s nearly 21 it’s even worse! Especially when you see so many other claims being dealt with that have later scan dates.

I’m seeing so many sept dates getting their answers and I’m like. Oh no. Have they forgot my kid. It’s excruciating at this point. Just let us know already haha. This definitely tests our patience and I realised. I don’t think I have any haha

I wouldn't be to worried. This thread is just a tiniest snapshot of a handful of thousands of claims. There are those from August without a decision and others in October who do have them. So there is lots of of variations and it's going to specific to your claim and by who is handling it.

When I applied for COC my award wasn’t not affected. But as everybody says your award can go up aswell as down or stay the same. You shouldn’t be worried if it will be affected if care need stayed the same but I would still fill in the form highlighting all care needs just as before so it doesn’t affect your claim. Hope that helps xx

Thankyou for your reply, so instead of re filling all the care section could i just put a note on saying its all the same or if theres new care needs just add them where necessary? X

Glitzxx · 22/01/2025 16:37

Guys if mines in holding queue for decision maker then has the case manager looked at it im on 12 weeks at the moment my lil one had additional care and supervision sensory perception difficulties and social interaction difficulties dont think ill get high rate he has no danger awareness and is on reins while out on long journeys

If you are already on HRC then even if your child has extra care needs now it won’t affected as they are on highest element. Others have mentioned just filling in mobility and writing a note stating care needs stayed the same. You can call to confirm with them if still unsure x

HRC and LM scan date 30/9 NC

I’ll still be here as 28/11 NC still in the system for other child

Congratulations on your award and hopefully good news for your other claim too 🤞

I don’t think I can face calling again now though as I’m terrible with phone calls anyway and the thought of getting bad news over the phone just doesn’t sit right with me 😂 they’d say oh yeah he’s been declined and I’d probably be like oh that’s brilliant thank you 🙄😂

😂😂 that made me chuckle sorry. I’m no good on the phone but needs must 😅

Long time lurker here!!

Initial nc 12/04
Declined and mr scan date 19/08

Had a phone call this afternoon from a decision maker asking lots of questions and said that he'd look over all the information and make a decision and send out a letter.

At the end of the call he said, now if you don't agree with the decision the next step would be to appeal.

Is everyone told this?? I'm now thinking it's been declined again.

I rang through to option 3 on the way home from work only to be told that it's with a decision maker and can take the 25 weeks speel!!

Does anyone know how long it can take to make the decision?

Gabby2492 · 22/01/2025 17:25

Does anyone know how long it takes to receive a letter after making a payment?

I’m not looking forward to it all waited 19+3 for the NC decision now have to do it all over I don’t understanding why they can’t look at the paperwork sent in properly!
can you believe they wrote in there that I had said DD attends dance classes!! She can hardly walk there was certainly no mention of her attending dance class!! When I mentioned this to the call handler doing the MR he brushed it off! I guess the only positive thing in all this is I will still be getting LRC for her until MR is looked at which at this rate be June/July

Toomanyplates23 · 22/01/2025 17:53

Hi all. I've been watching this thread and in case it helps anyone:

Renewal for eldest son: SD 04/09. Decision made 13/11. Letter received 21/11 - remained on MRC and LRM.

NC for youngest son: SD 09/10. Rang for an update today and got straight through. Told it can take 25 weeks. Case has been assigned to a case manager and will be looked at in date order. We'll see!

Good luck everyone x

I haven’t heard anything like that before but it probably does happen. Maybe try ringing tomorrow to find out outcome and press option 4. I am MR 20/08. So you’re just before me. Hopefully it’s good news. What sort of questions did DM ask? X

letsgetamoveon · 22/01/2025 18:25

@zoeybrooks45
Tried option 4 also but ran out of time for them to answer 😂
The man that rang was really nice, just went over some of my answers for clarification and asked about how my son is at school, any upcoming appointments and medication.
Ds diagnosed with epilepsy, brain malformation and possible asd (asked if on pathway but not as yet)
Fingers crossed I manage to get through tomorrow but not holding out much hope

arianadee · 22/01/2025 18:30

been lurking for a while.. COC is 19/08 I’m in Northern Ireland.. usually we are quicker over here for new claims so I naively thought I’d not be waiting still.

I’ve given up ringing the last call I made the advisor said she couldn’t say how long it would take and give the back log speech. I know it’s not their fault I just wish they could give us more information like :- they’re currently working on certain dates for COC claims, NC etc

right that’s my vent over! Congrats to those that have been awarded and good luck to everyone still waiting 😀
