DLA WAIT TIME THREAD 62

1000 replies

zoeybrooks45 · 11/01/2025 22:06

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.
DLA contact number is 121 4600 0800 121 4600

Crying through happy tears .. we got awarded I forgot to ask for how long as too emotional, life been so tough this will make huge difference …. Been so worried I’d not provided enough information but we got it

HRC and LM scan date 30/9 NC

I’ll still be here as 28/11 NC still in the system for other child

Excellent news! Your scan date is after mine, making me want to call, yet still see some August dates not done, the waiting is wild

scan date 12/09. Just rang and done option 4 instead, she was much nicer 😂 told me she can see it’s now with a decision maker but no decision has been made as of right now but they are currently looking at it. Good grief I feel sick 😂

Oo shouldn't be long now! You're a day before me 👀

I don’t think I can face calling again now though as I’m terrible with phone calls anyway and the thought of getting bad news over the phone just doesn’t sit right with me 😂 they’d say oh yeah he’s been declined and I’d probably be like oh that’s brilliant thank you 🙄😂

PositivityRipples · 22/01/2025 13:12

@Inpatientlywaitingstill Do you have a letter from neurodevelopmental services to say child has been accepted on to the pathway and is on the waiting list? Also did you send this in with your claim?

Kirstygingee · 22/01/2025 13:13

I caved and called, wasn't put on hold got put straight through, my scan date on letter said 19/09 but on the phone they're saying the 27/09 and that it's not with a DM yet and can take till the 2nd week of march, in for the long haul I guess x

PositivityRipples · 22/01/2025 13:13

@Ash900 That just made me laugh so hard 😂😭 coffee came out my nose.. Stop it 😆

Hi, not a letter no. It's on an online system . But have just printed it out now . Although , as it's just an update ( no letter) you can't really see it's from neurodevelopmental team , just literally says the words "child has been accepted" so I don't know if that's any use really . Yes sent it 20 weeks ago. Just have to resend it all again and hope for best for him now .

PositivityRipples · 22/01/2025 13:23

@Inpatientlywaitingstill If you have a contact number or email for the neuro team ask them to print it off and send it you, if not just use what you've already printed and put a covering letter stating what you've just said about online system and that you are still waiting for assessments, I'd wait for the letter incase it's asking for other evidence that they didn't tell you about over the phone,, saves you paying two lots of postage. Good luck 🤞🏼

Jenz1008 · 22/01/2025 13:43

@HM1111 omg how can they say 25 weeks when they are clearly doing around our date. I would sent next day if you can just in case. Sounds like they are just loving telling everyone 25 weeks to reduce calls and get people off the phone. Next day is expensive but just in case they do pick yours up soon

Devilindisguise1979 · 22/01/2025 14:20

Long time lurker but first time posting!
NC scan date of 30/8 - not heard a thing 🤷‍♀️

Tinker231 · 22/01/2025 14:34

Hi all,
Not sure which mine falls under as the sent the paper to fill out the mobility element due to daughter turning 5 but I also then sent more evidence such as ehcp as the hadn't had a copy yet.
However the saying my scan date is 27/11 I received theb15 week standard wait letter however the lady on the phone said its 25 weeks and not to ring back unless I have not heard anything by the 23rd of April:/ reason being I only rang as that was the second pack I sent as the one in September apparently was not received. All seem to say whatever the feel is right in the moment but did also say the log down when people have contacted them.
Wish everyone the best of luck x

Same date as mine. It's an awful wait isn't it.

Kidsanchaos · 22/01/2025 14:52

Hi congratulations to all those who've been awarded over the last week or so, seems to be a lot and hopefully things are moving a bit quicker after Christmas!

I'm wondering whether to speak to the school senco and tell her she might get a call at some point? Do they always call the school? I've sent in ehcp and iep, which I think holds all the relevant information re what DD is like in school and the support she receives there but will DM still phone school even if they have that?

Thanks again for any replies, I find this thread so helpful 😊 x

Hi all, just looking for some advice. My son already has a claim for HCR but has recently been diagnosed with autism and additional learning needs. There is also a higer need for safety along with communication. I have requested a COC pack so i can apply for mobility for him. Has any1 had a successful COC without it affecting the claim they already had?

I thought it was bad when I got to 15 weeks but now it’s nearly 21 it’s even worse! Especially when you see so many other claims being dealt with that have later scan dates.

I just see on fb a SD 17/09 that's my date to i see it and my heart fell out

I called yesterday to add a note and the lady said its 25 weeks so send it by post you've got time... I can't afford to send it if it won't be there in time and free post isn't an option with DLA I feel hear to many stories of things getting lost!

I've sent 4 updates since sending the DLA and they all arrived. But I had to call up after 6 weeks each time to confirm receipt. I used Freepost everytime.

For us we went from referral, to wait list, to advised to go private, to 2 private diagnostic reports. All whilst waiting on DLA to issue it to a DM. We've prespent the DLA on the private medical to assist with his getting his educational needs.

Daisy4877 · 22/01/2025 15:18

Update. SC 26/09 NC Rang this afternoon and been told claim is at the top of the queue for a DM and once with them it's just a quick process of reviewing and them making a decision which is usually pretty much the same day. Lovely lady and so helpful on the phone she said as its at the top of the queue she said I'm looking at days to possibly a week. Won't hold my hopes up as is know what they are like with the process!! However she did say to feel free to ring back Friday for an update and they should be able to tell me more. God I'm so worried now only evidence I have is a letter from our support worker stating she has high care needs regarding her routines, not sleeping and having no sense of danger, aswell as her joints and incontinence issues and is currently waiting for a cahms assessment! My daughter is now starting physiotherapy sessions should I have told them this? She also has a paeds appointment regarding her joint issues!!

HM1111 · 22/01/2025 15:24

No update it depends who you get on the phone sometimes they can't be asked

CoffeeMamaa · 22/01/2025 15:32

Silent lurker. NC 12/09
Ive phoned today after over an hour wait via option 4.

Mine is still waiting to be allocated. This part of the wait is the worst. Gearing up for a MR!

When I applied for COC my award wasn’t not affected. But as everybody says your award can go up aswell as down or stay the same. You shouldn’t be worried if it will be affected if care need stayed the same but I would still fill in the form highlighting all care needs just as before so it doesn’t affect your claim. Hope that helps xx

I really can’t be bothered phoning due to the script it’s like a broken record. They don’t even check anymore they just state I can see you haven’t reached 25 weeks. Personally I prefer option 4 there in the call centre a lot more manners and sound they like have some emotion haha xx
