Yes exactly. DLA is not something to be forgotten about or have patience with as we live with our disabled children everyday and this is our reality. I am sorry I can’t submit forms and completely forget for 6 months whilst I struggle on a daily basis. System is very messed up whether it’s education or support via benefits. We can all be patient and supportive with each other. I find calling quiet mentally draining aswell but I live for the update on these threads haha xx

Hopefully you will hear this week and if not next week. Are you planning on sending your evidence next day signed for? I used a 3-5 day signed for service but 2 weeks later it wasn’t received so had to resend next day delivery which got there fine.

I always make sure to send 1st class next day signed for. I can’t risk the delay 😂 xx

Hi guys maybe wrong post. My son’s DLA was up for renewal. He was on MRC LRM and has been awarded HRC LRM. Current claim runs out 26/1 decision on renewal was made 31/10. Does this mean he will have some backdate of pay to come or will the new rate just take over his current claim?

Alex900 · 29/12/2024 19:13

I forgot to mention I havnt received the letter of confirmation yet I was told over the phone about the outcome of the renewal

My scan date is 12/09. I’m 15 weeks and 3 days in and when I say I have been counting down the days, I’m not even a tiny bit joking. Like from the day I phoned for the forms, I was at the door looking for the postman every day. Once I posted them, I was again looking for the postman every day and then when they acknowledged they have them with my scan date, I have read through every single Facebook post and every single post on these threads. I check my bank every morning like with some miracle they’ll do my sons claim earlier than everyone else’s. I also still look for the postman every single day. I first rang for the forms on 4/09 so for the past 116 days, it has been all I have thought about. When it’s something for our children that could really make a difference and help, we’re allowed to not be patient! Xx

I just saw someone’s post on facebook saying they have a payment from dla pending for Monday with a scan date of 23.08 - same as ours. I bank woth Lloyds so I cannot see any upcoming payments and now I am tripping 😆

My SD is 14/08 no news yet and wasn't with DM when I rang on Xmas eve.

I bank with Santander and if I'm due money the following day it is usually in my bank at 9pm night before. So I now check after 9pm and again when I wake up lol. I've learned DLA seem all over with dates so panic when I see dates past mine but then sometimes reassured when I see ppl still waiting before mine. I may call tomorrow to check in ha ha

No backpay from my experience the new rates apply once the current claim end date.

Hi guys can I ask some advice from you experienced ones with dla please? I’d like to know how likely(or not) it’s been for anyone to get dla with the younger children, I’m talking age 2-3….
my son has hearing loss in both ears, obstructive sleep apnea syndrome, speech delay and really struggles with certain things like outside safety awareness, and social skills. and has been referred to- salt, portage, paediatric services, and has an eip(something like that, can’t quite remember) at his preschool already. He is having ent surgery soon.
Does anyone have similar children who have qualified? Do I need to inform dla when he has his surgery? I’m only 10 weeks in from scan date so a while left but just curious whether to feel positive or not! Thanks

SKB12 · 29/12/2024 21:45

BlueDeea · 29/12/2024 17:56

Yes, hsbc, monzo and another one that I forgot. Used to be with hsbc and i remember they had this feature

Good feature to have, saves the guesswork on payments and due dates with things like this.

Obviously I’m not a DM but I would say you have reason to feel hopeful. Your son clearly has more needs than another child of his age and quite a lot too, I can’t see how they would justify overlooking that despite his young age. I would inform DLA of any updates and certainly worth updating regarding his upcoming surgery. I hope his surgery goes well and good luck x

Jumbocoffeemorning · 29/12/2024 21:50

@Cb2391 hi, your DC sounds very similar to mine! My DD is 7 now but was first awarded DLA HRC at around 13 months. The main thing we got the award for was her obstructive sleep apnea, she uses a CPAP machine for it so the night time care got us the higher rate. We have recently renewed and we got HRC again. She has Down syndrome so speech delay, low muscle tone, learning disability etc and has been under the services you mentioned! So yes you definitely can get DLA for younger children!

I think a lot of people can relate to this. The not knowing and waiting consumes you. I think it’s made worse when information isn’t forthcoming and as transparent as we would like to to be which is where threads like this come in handy and to know you aren’t alone. If it’s any help I don’t think August claims are taking anywhere near as long as Julys so it won’t be much longer until they are on to September.

Micd3896 · 29/12/2024 22:40

guys I’ve thought about how I can actually phone for update tomorrow at least 10 times today. This DLA thing is actually mentally draining

rwqlly hoping for some news soon! I call before Christmas and they told me it had been assigned to a DM!
the wait is killing me! Especially as I’ve seen August dates on Facebook, gets me twitchy!

New claim
Woke up today with MRC paid into my bank.

I phoned just before Christmas at 20 weeks to be told the deadline had been extended to 25 weeks, that my claim hadn't even been looked at yet.

Over the flipping moon, MRC is what I was expecting. Turning 5 within the next few months so I'll have to do it all again as I think we should also get LRM so I might stick around. Thanks to everyone for sharing their update posts.

My LO had surgery for hearing loss 2 years ago when started our claim. I would inform them that he has upcoming surgery. Also it might be worth including audiology/Ent reports

Hopping on!

Scan date 13/09
Put in a COC form for my son ( turned 3 in December) hoping for HRM under VUW to go with existing award for MRC which is running til December 2029!

I feel I had enough solid evidence but the DLA facebook group gives me the absolute fear!

Also waiting on his blue badge which is a 15 week wait from our local council 🙃

I find that sometimes in the Facebook groups they can be very unhelpful. I uploaded a letter that nursery did for my child and everyone that commented on it said my child wouldn’t qualify for HRM with that letter. Well they was all wrong and he did qualify with it🤦🏽‍♀️

Kc1999x · 30/12/2024 08:39

Congrats on all the awards!

Kc1999x · 30/12/2024 08:41

@SKB12 got my child’s award letter through the post. Turns out he wasn’t awarded under SMI but actually under VUW. I’m pretty sure the lady on the phone said SMI route. Not bothered either way as he kept the award length and got the rightful award, but crazy cause he does meet the SMI x

I get this, I do wonder if sometimes people let their emotions get in the way and feel the need to say your child won't be awarded because theirs wasn't IYSWIM

Also I’ve applied for the blue badge for my son about 3 times and declined each time with reasoning of “ he always has someone accompanying him”
I’ve just done another application through the automatic entitlement because he now receives HRM. They’ll probs still decline that knowing my council😅😅
