I was referring to the people who have posted their SD and when they were awarded. That’s useful information

It’s also useful information when people have spoken with DLA to find out the exact dates they are working on. I suppose we all have different ideas of useful but a lot of people in here phone to find out information and it’s been very helpful to a lot of us!

Honestly, this has been a lifeline. When I started reading here I was still under the assumption that it was an 11 week until I read 25 weeks here. I’ve been thankful daily that our wait is over. Funnily enough, I don’t feel the same stress over my PIP MR they’ve stated 15 weeks from the offset and I’m fine with that. I have called to send in additional evidence, I was told that they have an option to text when evidence is received. DLA could really benefit from this.

It really has! When you called and spoke to them and they said they was working on 17/07 that’s when I knew my sons would be looked at very soon🙏 and it was! I’m so glad our wait is over!
it’s always the way, cause it’s your own claim you’ll happily put it on the back burner and not stress that much, but when it’s your child it’s a whole different story😂 DLA needs an upgraded system

Graham for worker of the year! I’ve always treated them with the kindness and respect that they ask for, but I can’t say the same for them. Overall it’s a dated system that’s in need of an overhaul but of course that takes money and time. I have had call handlers tell me that they have made repeated requests for the decision time on the letters to be updated but it’s been ignored

Yes he was really great!
and same but it’s not reciprocated at all. And they wonder why people phone again again hoping for someone a little nicer to talk to.
I read somewhere that they are refusing to change the wait times on letters as it’ll cost them too much money

I really wasn’t expecting a decision until the new year from what they said just a day before our decision was made. I was worried about the date discrepancy and how much that would delay our claim and wanted that addressed but luckily for us it had already gone to a decision maker. True, PIP did miss out the fact I am completely deaf in one ear and how that impacts me, but my sons claim was the one I was most concerned about. I have no plans to take mine to tribunal if it’s not overturned. I think I’ve had enough stress!

I know they’re not the same people, the point was if calls were reduced, they could redeploy staff/budget to deal with backlogs - or where ever it is needed. I’m not saying do not call, for whatever reason whether it’s missed deadlines or checking additional information, I’m saying in general, just be patient, we all know it’s frustrating but if we all adopted the same attitude and called every 5 minutes, the DWP would get nothing else done. Or they’d employ more staff , our taxes would go up to pay for it and then we’d all moan about that - it’s just applying some common sense. We all know timescales and what dates they’re working on from these posts.

unfortunately I think your thought process is not a helpful input for this thread. We are a supportive space to uplift each other in these times of being in the dark. You way of looking at things is putting the blame on us. The blame is on DLA whether they like to admit it or not. Just to be clear, nobody is calling every 5 mins. I haven’t called for over 3 months. But others can call as much as they want! You clearly follow this thread for updates so please provide positive insight or just be a silent reader. Thank you. 🙏

They told me they didn’t have a timeframe in which to sort it. I waited a couple of weeks and then made a complaint online, after which they sorted it within a week I believe it was.

Thanks hun i will do the same if not sorted by then as I know they tend to take their time most of the time even to respond yet alone action anything else lol thanks hun x

Fingers crossed you receive your decision soon hun defo call up for updates if feel like taking too long x

I can’t imagine that they have no timeframes to update the claim like they were stating. Once we made a complaint, a team leader got in touch and a date was given regarding payment. Had it not been for this group, I wouldn’t have been aware that it could be backdated. x

A few have been awarded in the past week between middle of July to end of August very sporadically. My MR date is 20/08 I haven’t heard anything as of yet, going to submit last evidence tomorrow. I would expect to hear in the next few weeks according to timescale. I would call for an update if your MR date is between those dates. What is your MR date?

Hopefully you will hear this week and if not next week. Are you planning on sending your evidence next day signed for? I used a 3-5 day signed for service but 2 weeks later it wasn’t received so had to resend next day delivery which got there fine.

That's very much the same for me hadn't a clue about much my daughter is entitled to until I found this group and did some extensive research through nights im awake which is pretty much always

a true blessing as not many know things that children who are entitled to DLA should be receiving its a constant battle but this group i have nothing but utter respect and time for with finally finding a place to share relevant information that's helpful to our childreas wellbeing as not alot of places tell you anything

I migrated by force to UC in July but claim.started in April now told 4.4.24 therefore have to do mandatory reconsideration for difference with tax credits of higher disabled child element from 4.4.24 to beginning of UC and onto UC for backdate from beginning of claim in july till present due to difference between the rates of high disabled child element

Award DLA HRC higher child disability element UC= £487 per month

Award DLA MRC/LRC = £156.11 Child disability element UC per month

Make sure request backdate of child disability element to start of claim not the day you find out has to be what dla has backdated to via UC journal send reminders as they tend to ignore alot or call ot make complaint as @SKB12 stated

Award HRM = automatic blue badge entitlement
concession congestion charge £10 per year

Supporting evidence ie gp letter occupational therapist etc can support hidden disabilities affecting mobility VUW SMI severe anxiety panic attacks can apply without Award via non automatic route via your council for blue badge

Access tickets theatre goes plus 1 free companion apply to ATG directly
Lion king offer autism friendly packs like ear defenders and sensory fidget toys to help with environment triggers during the show ask ahead of the start of the show

CEA card for cinema goers 1 free carer ticket

Nimbus card recognised most places

Family fund grant every 2 years to help with needs or breaks ie butlins haven

Blue badge also aids restricted road permits for school roads etc via council application

HRM = exempt from car tax or can access mobility car scheme for all allowance

Carers element regardless of income I believe ask this to be backdated to start of DLA claim

Carers allowance depending on working hours/income if eligible ask for this to be backdated to start of DLA claim however works on £4£ basis but I believe contributes towards NI contributions check for verification

I don't claim these as my ill health means I receive LCRWA instead something I didn't know about until this year after being extremely ill with multiple health conditions since age of 14 and doing research myself

I can't even begin to explain the stress of this DLA claim on top of so many other things going on but please keep fighting for your babies and don't let them fob you off involve MP if necessary
We are all here to pick you up and keep you going till your fight is over

Hope this information is useful to someone not sure if iv missed some things but it's very supportive

Now on to the next fight the housing until I have to pursue DLA for my other 2 living ASD children
1 angel 14 year old child (ASD)
3 ASD living children
( 1 now claiming DLA
1 on pathway
1 awaiting referral wish to.wait till he's 2 or 3)
2 neurotypical living children

Sorry for the essay hope can help someone out x

My MR scan date was 22.8 awarded payment 24.12 had to call for rates HRC/LRM which was suitable for her needs
I did involve MP 2 weeks prior as the letter was far outdated and unless you call or have this amazing group you wouldn't know what was going on
Fingers crossed you hear tomorrow as they now seem to be picking up x

MR sd 25/07

Woke up to a pending back pay of £1400 which I work out to be about £33 a week so he’s got his HRC back. I’m so happy.

With UC do I just write it in the journal or are the rate levels a bit you have to select in changing the child’s details?

Congratulations 🎊

StEpH3020 · 29/12/2024 16:07

Does anyone know if a COC is accepted do they back pay and would this be a separate payment to the your normal DLA payment? SD 29/07 thinking I am not getting accepted which is why we’re having to wait so long 😢

Caramelbear1985 · 29/12/2024 16:12

CoolHare · 29/12/2024 09:16

Not at all. I think calling is actually counter productive as it then causes as surge in calls and workloads. If the staff were not spending time dealing with calls, staff resource could be used elsewhere, such as processing claims. We all know the wait times and that the form has been received, plus we know it’ll be backdated so unless there’s a significant delay past 25 weeks there’s no need to call. Just be patient.

Cool hare I’m struggling to understand why your on this group if you’re moaning about people calling 🤷🏽‍♀️

BlueDeea · 29/12/2024 16:13

I just saw someone’s post on facebook saying they have a payment from dla pending for Monday with a scan date of 23.08 - same as ours. I bank woth Lloyds so I cannot see any upcoming payments and now I am tripping 😆

Shorty180 · 29/12/2024 16:29

Do you think there are less claims received in August as nobody has times to fill the forms in during school holidays/can’t get school input on the forms? Just trying to find reasons to be hopeful they are going to catch up a bit 🤞 I’m only 5/11 SD, I’m just excited to get into 2025 - the year for my decision 🤣

I never knew such accounts existed. I’m with Barclays, you find out when it’s paid in and not before 😂

Interesting theory and quite possible. The call handlers did say that the amount of claims received in July had caused a backlog but August have moved quite quickly. Not long until it’s your year 😂

mummyto3littlebeautys · 29/12/2024 17:51

evening you lovely bunch! Are the phone lines back open tomorrow and are they all week or limited days again? Too cut along story short my 8 year old boy has been getting dla hrc and LRM since 2020 but I did a coc back in March to fight for hrm because he had been diagnosed with a severe intellectual disability but they didn’t change award so I did mr back in July but panicked as I didn’t have any more evidence to send as I had sent all documents but in this time frame my son has no got autism diagnosis 2 weeks ago. Anyway I cancelled mr but it’s somehow still reached the dm as they rang me 4 times on the 19th dec but missed the calls and had a voicemail left so I called back and they said that it was the dm asking why I have not gone through with mr and that they was sending me a letter to ask if I still wanted to go through with the mr. So the call Handler wrote a note to dm saying that I still want to go ahead and that I would be sending his autism report in but do I still wait for this letter or do I just send anyway? Would this go straight to the dm as the call handler said that it would stay with the dm? As they are waiting on what I want to do but does the letter matter now that the call handler left the dm a note ? Sorry lovely’s for the really long post I do apologise. X
