zoeybrooks45 · 05/12/2024 08:09

Hello everybody, I have made a new thread please put in your scan date, hopefully we hear some good news this month. please be kind and feel free to share scan date, entitlement award and what child is diagnosed with as others in similar position can feel uplifted in these stressful times. 💐

New claims (NC) are taking ‘around’ 20 weeks.
Mandatory Reconsideration (MR) & Change Of Circumstances (COC) between 20-25 weeks approx.
Renewals between 15-20 weeks approx
tribunals: when you disagree with MR and are considered by a court
scan date (SD) date form was scanned on the system and counting weeks for decision
original claim date: date you called up for the forms and you will be backdated

UC : universal credit
DWP: department of work and pensions
DM: decision maker; the person who assesses each claim and awards/decline a case

number for an update 0800 121-4600

currently we are in July/August for decisions! xx

No reason hun just said wait for the letter x

Do an MR like others have said don’t give up. Did you send in evidence to back up your claim? X

addies · 05/12/2024 13:09

@Princess23 same scan date as me and @Tasham25 im too worried mine is a decline. What evidence did you have? Definitely put in an MR so many get awarded after but the wait is ludicrous so sorry x

I just don’t get how the wait times go up. So we was told 15 weeks back in July, so surely it would stay at 15 weeks because more claims weren’t going in before the date. If you get what i mean, so surely the dates after we was told 15 weeks would then be 25 weeks

This is what I don’t understand! I was told 15 weeks initially aswell. I’m just waiting for a call back from the DM - I’ve called and kicked off.

Hunni I’m so sorry.,, but this is what they like to do. They follow such a list of requirements and decline so easy, Hoping you just accept it. I was diagnosed bi polar 15 years ago, got pip for 3 years then got took away, did mr, declined again I took them to tribunal and got awarded for 5 years.
I didn’t claim it now as they declined me again after 5 years and I think I have wrong diagnosis now my children are getting diagnosed with adhd and austim. It a very stressful thing but what helped me was just forgetting about it until wait times were up, then waiting again for tribunal. I won for myself it can be done love. We have to fight this system and get what we are entitled for our children xx

I think it will be more than worth it this time for you to put in for MR, because your LO is now older. They can argue a 4 yr old needing nappies is normal for a child of that age, but now she's 7... they should recognise the significant difference and the extra care you're giving her.

Sorry to hear. Were you a new claim? What grounds did the decline on? You can always do MR if it was a new claim x

My 8 year old also has bowel problems. Given your daughter’s age, any extra toileting needs she has should count in your favour given it’s not normal for our kids ages.

I just called again. No update or decision made. Couldn't tell me if it was with a DM or caseworker, only that it was in a queue to be reviewed. Told me to wait until 16th December which is the 20 week mark. Call handler was rude from picking up the phone. Tried to kill with kindness but I could tell I would get no help from her whatsoever. I did get straight through though for those thinking about calling, now seems to be a good time.

I'm fed up. Trying to forget about it for another week. I think someone else said it down thread, but with pressure mounting to get these claims that I'm in a queue of decided before 20 weeks, I can see how it would be easier for them to decline everything to just clear numbers down for Christmas and deal with MR later on, knowing that some feel so beaten by the process that they won't bother. Terrible system

I know pip is different, but as stated above I went threw all that, even to the tribunal it took 19 months in total, they took it away after 5 years because I worked part time and got 0 points. My condition didn’t change just found a job supporting people with additional needs because i understood them and needed extra money for my family and you can work and claim pip. The whole process is such a stressful thing and you can be punished for the simple things. It so draining I know xxx

Morning, finally had a response from UC to say the child element backdate has been ok'd by a DM. It said my payment changes will be reflected in my statements.

None of my previous statements amounts have changed. Any one know how long this takes?
The child disability element has already been added and had the last 2 months with it added to my payment.
Will it get another letter from them saying how much I'm owed?

Hi…they’ll usually follow up with another message on your journal stating the amount they owe you and that’s when you’ll see the change in your statements as well. My disabled element was all done in one day but carers element took about a week once I messaged them again. Have you asked them to backdate you disabled child element and carers element?

Are the Dms for DLA in a main centre or all over the place I wonder, would make sense for the different answers that are given

I still have a while yet. Scan date 12/09 NC. I’m still holding on to hope that there isn’t as many August applications cause of maybe wanting to wait until schools open again to get evidence so hoping they get through August quicker. Wishful thinking I know 😂😂

My scan date is 24/9,am hoping the same as you, that August may be a quieter month for claims.

sjay1017 · 05/12/2024 14:45

Nope don’t think they want to speak to speak to me today! 35 mins waiting and they ended the call on me. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Yeh this has been on going since end of September. They made the decision to back date it today but I haven't had anything about how much it will be

@SKB12 no post for me today!! How did you get on?

Nada! I called the cab company earlier and said is it actually going to be done? He asked what I wanted them to write? Yet yesterday he told me his colleague had done it. He said he’d get it to me by the end of the day which I don’t believe. I said to him I’ve waited quite a while now. DLA have their number but he don’t know my son, he just runs the cab company which provides my son with a cab!!

We got our letter 2 days later saying how much and when it’ll be paid along with statements adjusted.
