Scan date 22/07 new claim. I've been absolutely fine waiting the last 18 weeks but as time gets closer my anxiety is going through the roof. Claiming for my child who turns 3 in March and it's so stressfull. Rang today for the first time as sent in additional evidence in Friday and just wanted an excuse to check where they're at. they've received and scanned into system on Monday which was quick but told me to wait until the 9th December and if no decision they can escalate which is similar to others being told 20 weeks. The gentleman was nice and did security really quickly but wouldn't tell me if it's with a decision maker just said not to worry and it will get done. Now to distract myself and not tea my hair out waiting. Good luck to everyone.

@Tasham25 sounds like my child is the same diagnosis as yours. We also have ARFID to add to the mix. No EHCP though. I've read people being declined simply for not having them, so we'll see.

My daughter is going through the echp. But my son is 5 and doesn’t have one and still got mrc and low mobility! I think it’s down on what you say on the forms! I sent in her doctor letter with the form so fingers crossed

addies · 27/11/2024 10:50

@Tasham25 I sent in lots of typed info using cerebra guide. The school wrote a letter, we sent her school care plan, her diagnosis report, letter from CAMHS re: ARFID. I was very measured and honest about not having nighttime needs on a regular basis after 11pm. It does happen, but the majority of issues are getting her to sleep or her sleep walking. All of that happens before 11 (or very close to it) though, or very early doors. Of course night time issues happen, but not every night. When I read the CEREBRA guides, I really felt MRC LRM matched needs, but I guess proving it when awards are so inconsistently done is the issue.

Irongirl71 · 27/11/2024 10:54

My daughters DLA seems to be renewed every 2 years. So her next renewal Date is in July 2025. I mean autism doesn't correct its self and I was wondering is it worth contacting them to ask for them to extend the award period. She doesnt have a diagnosis and paeds give me 1 appointment a year.

She has had a EHCP since 3 years old and attends a specialist school.

Has anyone ever requested the award period to be extended and if so did you have to send more evidence ?

At this rate i will be competing forms every year for each child.

Shorty180 · 27/11/2024 10:56

All I had was a supporting statement from the school Senco 😢 I feel I’ve got no chance but getting up at 5am when he sleeps in my bed every night due to anxiety as a single parent just isn’t sustainable it affects my ability to work I don’t know what else I can do 😢 just desperate for help at this point, only just submitted my claim anyway. I’m feeling so broken x

My son’s award was 2 years, was supposed to be jan 2025 renewal. However I did a coc this year in march for mobility, they extended his care award until 2032. They follow a guideline on how long to award for. Personally I would wait until renewal now and then hopefully they should extend it.

Sd- 01/08 nc,
I haven't dared phone as of yet, this group is the only thing keeping me sane!

addies · 27/11/2024 11:01

@Shorty180 so sorry to hear you're feeling so low. Many applications with little evidence are awarded. You've applied and that's the best any of us can do. The system has a lot to answer for. Whilst I appreciate every need is different, the awards are so inconsistent that it leaves us all a mess and bundle of anxiety. Hugs x

Sometimes I think it’s just pot luck on the mood of the DM! We should get mrc and lrm. But wherever we get that is another thing! It’s a waiting game! My own anxiety is going through the roof! With Christmas around the corner we need the money! She so fussy on food and clothes etc! This will make a huge difference to us! But I’m not going to give up a fight to which she has the right to! She suffers with incontinance can’t spell it! She’s 14 so we always have to carry spare clothes and can never travel without a toilet nearby as she doesn’t know when she goes she has no feelings. We applied last year for DLA. For help with travel and clothes as you can imagine she goes through some! But we got refused saying she doesn’t need more care!! Wish I had mr it back then!

addies · 27/11/2024 11:06

@Tasham25 best of luck. We shouldn't have to wish 'luck' that you get a DM that awards correctly, but this is where we are! I've done my best. The wait is awful though

This is sad☹️ positive thoughts and always hope for the best. It is hard I feel like I’m running on fumes all the time, but we always gotta remember why we are doing this! You have got this! If we didn’t fight for our children no one would. Everyone on this thread is so lovely and have honestly helped me through the horrible wait times so do stick around we are always here for support, advice and a little rant now and then😂

Shorty180 · 27/11/2024 11:25

Thank you, just feel broken down by the system. My Universal Credit is currently under review, whilst my work capability assessment is also pending (did the form in Feb!) Just feel attacked from all angles and am supposed to be able to afford a solicitor to fight to keep my home in my divorce 🤷‍♀️ honestly what, my sons Dad doesn’t even see him but thinks he can sell from under us while I have health conditions and our son has additional needs. Honestly couldn’t make my life up sometimes 🤦‍♀️ Thanks everyone x

I hope everything sorts itself out for you. Don’t let all the knock backs kick you down, fight fight fight always! You have got this!

Seen a few middle of July decisions on Facebook and also another September. Still have no idea how some September dates are slipping through but with mine being 12th September, it’s making me constantly check the bank and look out for the postman 😂

This is me😂😂😂 whenever I see an MR around the same date or after😂

Kc1999x · 27/11/2024 12:01

I caved and called, got through instantly. Not allocated yet, wouldn’t tell me nothing except the rehearsed speech🤦🏽‍♀️

Hanacrusis · 27/11/2024 12:02

New claim, scan date 15/7. Was told yesterday it should have been done at the same time as he’s twins but it wasn’t. Did receive back pay for other twin today and have requested statement of reasons to do MR. I’m just fed up of it all and I don’t want to do it any more!

Mum21056 · 27/11/2024 12:14

Do uc always back pay to when your claim was sent? Also with the disability element if two of your children are on mrc would you recieve £156 disability element per child? And also is carers element back paid to?
if I read all right carers element can’t affect my wages?

yes but you need to request back pay. You’ll have the disability element awarded per child, and carers is back paid too but again you need to request it. The carers element won’t affect anything

Bless you, I feel in a similar situation it’s so difficult. I had very limited evidence just autism referral letter and letter from my sons senco. I’m expecting a decline. I can’t work at the moment, I had to give up my job last year because I couldn’t put my son with a childminder. He’s very aggressive, headbutts, kicks, bites consistently, not even just when he’s angry, i think most of it is stimming. Nursery won’t take him even part time at the moment. And on top of that universal credit have put me on the restart scheme and are forcing me to apply for work even though they know I’m awaiting the outcome of the DLA claim so I can hopefully apply for carers until he can go to Nursery either Full mornings or a full day. It’s just a never ending nightmare isn’t it! When is your scan date? Fingers crossed for you that you get some positive news 🤞❤️x

Original SD 11.4.24
MR 22.8.24 praying everyone gets their awards soon it's not right we have to wait so long for each part of the claim
Dread doing my other 2 ASD children's claim but Currently on the pathway for ASD assessments and have no diagnosis for either seems like we always have to fight for our children's rights when we have so much going on day to day with the challenges we face it's not fair
