Not heard anything as yet.. I phoned a few weeks ago as the letter I’d received said 15 weeks and we was past that and they said it’s not yet been looked at and not to bother ringing back till after 25 weeks!

Someone on here MR date 23/07 was awarded a few days ago. So might not be the full 25weeks x

Thank you so much for your well wishes! She’s certainly kept us on our toes lol, didn’t even know dla was a thing until June this year when the community nurse mentioned it. I’m petrified for the heart surgery but she needs it asap otherwise her little body will never fight off an infection ❤️ thank you again xx

You're most welcome. I hope little ones surgery is a success and you all have an extra reason to celebrate at Christmas.
Just looking at the amount of professionals that she is cared for by I would say she should be entitled to HRC. She’s a bit too little yet to get mobility. Honestly, it can be a minefield. If anyone here can help you, I’m sure that they will. xx

Lauden · 26/11/2024 23:18

Thank you so much! Felt a bit naive filling out the form as they asked so many things she can’t physically do yet same as any baby her age but hopefully the amount of professionals she’s under should help. Fingers are crossed! Thank you again. I know mobility won’t be until a later date if needed, I hope it isn’t but it’s so hard to tell atm! X

Hi all 😃

SD was 17/07 and I called yesterday on the off chance after being told 20 week wait (I thought I’d just call again on the off chance someone would update me I should of waited until 4/12 that was the 20 week) and my son has been awarded MRC and LRM I was lucky as both people I spoke to were lovely I will receive the back payment in 3 to 5 days and have been awarded for 2 years finally I can give my son the extra help he so urgently needs being a single parent this helps soften the blow and I may look at private healthcare for him now to speed up for him. How do I claim the UC now please can anybody help?
I do hope this message gives people some hope with similar SD to ours good luck all 🤞

PollyH3 · 27/11/2024 06:34

@Jenxoxo Follow the steps in the photo and then you can copy and paste (edit) the below text

Hello
I just made a change for my child NAME, reporting them as disabled from DATE, as that is when I applied for their DLA. Unfortunately due to high demands it has taken this long for a decision maker to make their decision on the claim. Please can their disabled element and carers element be backdated to the DATE in line with the award.
Many thanks.

Literally not slept last night between the kids and worrying about dla. (and the course I'm on today is a boring one so I'll definitely be needing matchsticks). About to check if report has arrived yet. I'm hoping once it's scanned on the dm will re look at the claim, but going to try and call at lunchtime to check and ask if the dm can be messaged to look at the evidence. @MrsW12 was your decision made the same day the school report was added on or the following day?

Hiya everyone, best of luck on all claims awaiting a reply ❤️

just wondering if anyone else on here is claiming for a child under 2?!

My daughter unfortunately had a severe stroke at birth which affected 5/7 parts of her brain meaning she is weak on her right side, pretty delayed (can’t crawl yet at almost 18months old) she is also now having open heart surgery just before Christmas which we were told just over a week ago. She’s under paediatrics, consultant, cardio, dietician, physio (weekly), hydrotherapy (weekly) constipation team and epilepsy team.

im just a bit worried that our case isn’t strong enough despite giving a large amount of evidence. I know it’s really hard to prove care needs for any child under two but this money will really help us whilst our little girl is recovering from open heart surgery meaning my partner can assist me without worrying about rushing back to work.

has anyone else’s little one suffered a stroke and been awarded? Tysm ❤️

Hi I am sorry to read this hope you’re all doing okay! I have for dla for one of my boys since he was 3 months old the hospital my son was first cared under helped me fill the forms out there was a service called family liaison and they were fantastic even sent it off for me so it maybe worth seeing if they can provide you a supporting letter and sending it into dla

sending well wishes xxx

SD 14/08 NC

Was told when I rang I should hear by mid December, but based on what I've seen on here I'm not holding out much hope. The wait to find out is driving my anxiety up the wall.

Finding this thread really helpful, good luck and fingers crossed you all hear something positive soon 🤞

zoeybrooks45 · 27/11/2024 07:19

Good luck for today everyone! Hopefully we hear of more awards now that it is mid week xx

I think it was decided the following day, but I think my DM wasn’t in. Keep chasing though as I stewed all that weekend for nothing! Best of luck 🤞🏻 x

i dont understand how they can keep doing this to people im 19/07 nothing got told to wait 20 weeks then a further possible 5 weeks and someone 18/07 rang and got told 30 weeks yesterday so I don’t understand it at all

Ivytor · 27/11/2024 08:21

My case has been picked up by a DM!!!! SD 06/08 I am so nervous, I know it doesn’t mean anything but just to know we’ll hopefully be finding out answers soon is amazing.

im so glad I stuck up for myself with regards to that horrible call I had, thank you for supporting me through it guys

I am 23.08 and have been told 10th of january. It could be before that or after that. They don’t know. No one does. Don’t listen to them really. I have seen awards at 16,17 weeks. If the claim contains all the evidence they need, they can make the decision on the spot. The reason why people have to wait so long is because they need to contact some of the specialists or schools for clarification. So you really don’t know what is going to happen. They don’t know either. I got to that conclusion really fast. Everyone is clueless but the DMs. Keep positive!

They will definitely factor in that your daughter is under all those professional which a child under 2 wouldn’t be unless there were more needs than a regular child of their age. Send in everything you can, even anything that you receive while waiting for them to look at your claim. Good luck to you and your little warrior! My daughter had surgery at 12 days old, although not heart surgery, the 4 hours she was in theatre were the worst. x

Congratulations on the awards today. I hope to see more as the week goes on. Just a heads up, I put on my UC journal about back pay and got ignored , so I called and got through to a lovely man who escalated it. Getting paid on Friday! Please call if they don’t respond to your journal x

I just rang UC but she wasn’t very good English. I requested back pay and she mentioned that I had to make a change on journal for carers? I explained was just wanting the additional one which I thought was carers allowance. I’m so confused as I work 20hrs a week and they take £ for £ on one of them which I didn’t want.
she wrote on my journal saying she has asked a case manager to respond to my questions by second December but didn’t know about the back pay.
