I just rang UC but she wasn’t very good English. I requested back pay and she mentioned that I had to make a change on journal for carers? I explained was just wanting the additional one which I thought was carers allowance. I’m so confused as I work 20hrs a week and they take £ for £ on one of them which I didn’t want.
she wrote on my journal saying she has asked a case manager to respond to my questions by second December but didn’t know about the back pay.

I called too. They’ve asked that my husband sends a message through the journal asking for it to be sent to a decision maker

Hi all 😃

SD was 17/07 and I called yesterday on the off chance after being told 20 week wait (I thought I’d just call again on the off chance someone would update me I should of waited until 4/12 that was the 20 week) and my son has been awarded MRC and LRM I was lucky as both people I spoke to were lovely I will receive the back payment in 3 to 5 days and have been awarded for 2 years finally I can give my son the extra help he so urgently needs being a single parent this helps soften the blow and I may look at private healthcare for him now to speed up for him. How do I claim the UC now please can anybody help?
I do hope this message gives people some hope with similar SD to ours good luck all 🤞

Congratulations on your good news x

A bit of good news this morning if we can call it that. My son refused to get up and ready for school so we had to turn his taxi away. His chaperone said he was very upset in the taxi yesterday and was throwing his things about during the journey. I have asked her to provide us with a letter stating what he is like while in the car. She said she would get that done and pop it round tomorrow. I’ll be sending that as additional evidence

I rang on Monday SD 20/8 . I was told would be end of Jan before I get a decision !!

They are making it up as they go along. We are SD 06/08 and was told they’ve got until 28th January to make a decision in which case our decision would be sooner than yours if they are telling you end of Jan

They really are because the lady who just posted above was told yesterday it’s taking 30 weeks and today she’s been awarded x

I called too. They’ve asked that my husband sends a message through the journal asking for it to be sent to a decision maker

All she wrote on my journal was
After speaking today, I've asked that a case manager looks at your case and responds to the questions you raised. They will respond by 2 December 2024, before 6:00pm.

i put the changes on and updated and wrote a message I’d seen on here. And mentioned back pay on phone. Xx

Ringing again Friday morning so keep eye out! I said to my husband we waited long enough! It’s a free number so I’m going to bug them every other day 😂

Scc1991 · 27/11/2024 09:52

SD 14/08 NC

15 weeks and feels like I've been waiting forever. Previously been told to call back after New Year if decision not made by then but desperately hoping its done sooner. Can't believe so many in June/July still not completed.

@Lauden hope your all doing OK and wishing a speedy recovery for your little one. Surely with all that evidence she should be accepted. My little boy is 2 and hoping they understand he has a lot more needs and care than the average child his age too. No other diagnosis other than GDD. Also despite being able to get into a crawling position he didn't actually start crawling till he turned 2 (28 months now). Didn't sit unsupported until a couple of months before that. Not yet standing or talking. Also under quite a few professionals so 🤞🏼.

Good luck everyone. Hoping things speed up in the lead up to Christmas.

I’m having a day off 😂 it wasn’t assigned to a DM yesterday so won’t be today either ☹️

addies · 27/11/2024 10:16

@Tasham25 that's totally understandable. I haven't rung as I am convinced it's going to be a decline 😞

I have plan a and b 😂. My daughter has a number of issues including high functioning autism and adhd, and sensory processing disorder. If we get declined then it’s mandatory reconsideration. If we get the lowest on everything then that’s fine something to help is better then nothing

My sons chaperone is doing a letter, I’ll send that off tomorrow. They are welcome to ring school, they’ll say the same although I think the older he gets he tries to mask which is why he doesn’t want to go in as it’s an effort!
