Hi I had that letter too on Wednesday last week , SD 16/01/24 MR date 7/7/24 , I sent extra evidence off called two weeks later to make sure they had it and while I was on the call I was informed that anything from first week of June won’t be looked at until September.

MR 7/6/24 sorry not 7/7/24 🤦‍♀️

SendProsecco · 05/08/2024 14:16

Hey there…. So I spoke with the HV this afternoon she said that Early years team and SALT are pushing for me to get my son into a pre school so they can do assessments and I explained I applied to 8 near me all refused him as they don’t have the staff even for the 15 hours free a week ( apparently he will be lucky to get even a half day as the 15 hrs don’t add up cost wise so most won’t give more than 8-9 hrs ?? ) any way she said they will want DAF ( funding for a child on dla with SEN needs ) she said he needs dla to get daf and thy will want it for 1-2-1 possibly…. she told me to phone and request to be made priority or marked as urgent as this was dragging since January and I’ve already had to do two applications for the funding as the code is time limited and I run risk of them removing him again from everything as they can’t get access to him in a setting ?? Any way I did call and they have agreed to the reasons she told me to say but she said it can still be a few weeks … has anyone had luck turning around a no to a yes on a MR with a urgent request for a 2 n half year old non verbal autistic who has no danger factor runs is aggressive and eats everything non edible but refuses food unless it’s puree ? ( would be just care as they won’t give mobility under age 5 I think ? )

@GemzZ92 I'm wondering why the gentleman wouldn't tell me over the phone I'd really love to know what he's been awarded so I can update my uc x

Mumto3L · 05/08/2024 14:25

Congrats to those of you who have been awarded 🙏

Does anyone know, with regards to the text, do you get one if you have been declined or is it only for approved applications? TIA

When my middle son was awarded in June I didn’t get any text at all , nor when my youngest was refused , I phoned them while on holiday and found out he was awarded MRC and LRM two days before. When I came home I got the letter around a week or so later… my youngest was turned down even though his care needs are much higher but he is only 2 yrs old and I didn’t have much evidence as still waiting on reposts from a few professionals, I put MR in and sent the reports and today was marked as urgent so in hope of getting the no turned into a MRC or HRC 🤞🤞🤞🤞 ( the won’t give mobility for under 5 year olds )

The basic CO won’t be able to tell you but you can ask them to transfer you to a different department where they can tell you , you will be asked the security stuff again … letters usually turn up 4-7 days after a decision but they say’s allow 10-14 as Royal Mail are not the best the last couple years .

I phoned up last week and asked them to text me as hadn't received any so far, they said they would but wondering if that's for both successful and unsuccessful applications.

I hope your MR is successful 🙏 I have a feeling we will end up being refused and need to do one.

Scan date 4/4 Rang today my daughter was awarded on the 2/08 hrc lrm till 2026, didn’t receive a text, but im happy the worry and waiting is over 😅

xxholr5xx · 05/08/2024 16:12

Scan date 10/04 and nervously waiting now. Struggling to find anyone with the same scan date. With the amount of evidence sent in we are confident our son should receive MRC (although I’ve sent in loads of evidence of night needs but know this is so difficult to get). Also nervous as our child is 2yrs and 8 months but he already attends a special provision nursery and is under every professional going, medically and within our local authority so I go between being confident and doubting what I’ve sent in 🙈

Good news for me finally. Scan date was 5/04 I rang this morning I was told my son has been awarded on 2/08/24 and would be back paid from 8/04/24. They are unable to tell me over the phone the rates for my child which is really unfortunate and I’m not sure why and he said that I will have to wait for the letter but said the letter should be with me in the next 10 days depending on Royal Mail. I'm currently crying my eyes out. Took 17 weeks x

Omg i am sooo happy for you that you have finally been awarded , i know how much this means to you for your son 🩷 but id deffo ring up tomorrow at 9am and ask for rates as they can tell you over the phone lovely .
but again congratulations i am over the moon for you xxx

Hi , I’m struggling to get any school/pre school or nursery setting in place I was refused a spot for our son by 8 locals places … how do I go about to find him a special provision place please ? We are under paeds and salt and early years teams and HV regular but no ones helpful in getting him a placement but all keep telling me they need him in one for them to do the assessments and for him to progress , he is 2.6 yrs non verbal, runs , no danger awareness , eats everything non edible but refuses actual food unless it’s mushy/soft or crisps/crackers , stinks a lot screams high pitched but no clear words he don’t even know his own name he can clap now but can’t feed his self at all , he can’t suck straw cups/bottles but can a 360 cup , no waving or pointing and rubs his chin on everything when excited or a new object , climbs on everything and breaks most toys quickly , he can be quiet aggressive as well when he is frustrated and he wakes 3-8 times a night most nights , he don’t understand how to put anything on like arms in tops or legs in pants , and soooo much more smaller details that seem OCD behaviour … he was refused dla on 7th June after applying in January , I am waiting on mr and it’s marked as urgent as of today , he has a section 23 with council for early years inclusion but 8 places have refused him as they all don’t feel they can meet his needs/don’t have the staff/can’t get DAF because he isn’t on dla … I feel trapped in my house with this and I don’t feel I can meet his needs alone he needs professional support from a school type setting who know what they are doing but I don’t know where to turn or who to ask as the professionals we meet say it’s down to me to find it.

sorry for the long rant but in hope more info might help you or someone else that reads under stand and be able to point me in a new direction with a better outcome

I’m so sorry to hear this, it sounds incredibly difficult. We live in Wales and are eligible for the 2 year old funded Flying Start scheme (2.5 hrs free childcare each morning term time from 2-3 years old) my twins started in a setting but my one twin was already diagnosed with GDD at 18 months and suspected autism. After support from the Flying Start advisory team who got the local authority involved to observe, our one twin now attends a Flying Start provision for additional needs as legally by the Equality Act they have to provide suitable provision. They only take 6 children and have 4 adults. He will then move onto specialise provision for 3 year olds in Early Education.

If you’re in England, until compulsory school age you are right I believe that they do not have to take the child but do have to provide reasonable evidence as to why. Also yes because 1:1 costs more than 15 hours you get less hours unless you fund the extra yourself unfortunately. Many parents in the nursery I worked in had to do this 😥

Give them a ring again in the morning somebody different may be able to tell you.
I had no issues this morning...i forgot when they said he was awarded from so had to ring back so i could update UC. Thats another thing....i dont always recieve UC each month depends on how my partners pay day falls. Will we still get the extra elements even if we get a £0 award that paeticular month? Xx

Thank you! I'm going to ring them tomorrow to try and find out, hopefully they will tell me as I've seen some people have been refused any info over the phone.

Hi not the same date but I'm 11/4 so close. Not heard anything yet and don't want to phone. We'll be 17 weeks Thursday so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a decision around then.

My scan date is 20/04. I have seen some Facebook new claim awards between 02/04 and 19/04 today.

I did call last Friday as I hit 15 weeks on Saturday, and was told mine was still in the queue.

I’ve been following the speed and dates for a while. I think 10/04 will start to be seen this week, with decisions starting to come in the next few days/next week (or at least that would be my bet 🤞)

hope you get good news soon x
