Hello, just a quick question is it Universal Credit or Child Tax Credit that has to backdate my son disability element. I moved over to Univeral Credit at the beginning of June and found out about his dla in July. But they said they can only verify it from the beginning of June. So what happens to him being backdated from February?

I'm no expert but as tax credits is effectively obsolete now I think it will likely go from when you moved to UC. Completely unfair, and only UC/tax credits will have ultimate answer. Congrats on the DLA award😊

We have a paediatrician assessment on Wednesday and I've been told after that it can take up to 8 weeks for the report? I don't know if it differs per area 😊 x

Thankyou, I phoned the social and communication pathway today and they pretty much said they have all the inormation they need from school ect, they are just waiting on her main caseworker to give me her feedback, I'm almost certain she is diagnosed, just awaiting, never been through this before, her dad is diagnosed high function autism, I am diagnosed ADHD as an adult, I am very organised, get really distressed without an answer their and then. Something I need to work on. So stressful 😫.

am I correct in thinking todays date 26th will be my payment day every month
also what do I need to do in regards to universal credit do I just need to tell them his been awarded and to mention back pay?
also good luck to all those still waiting x

Robstersgirl · 26/07/2024 01:33

I had a payment yesterday, no letter, text or request for birth certificate (I put his passport number on the form) We waited 18+1. I then called today as I wanted to know the rate and award date for UC. My son has autism and I’m so pleased he got HRC + LRM. His EHCP said an iPad would be great for him as he has severe learning difficulties, so we went out yesterday and bought a brand new one, it’s something we could never afford otherwise. It’s helped him so much already! As evidence I sent his EHCP, SALT, ED-PSYCH reports and school attendance records, showing he’s been doing half days for 15 months. I also sent them evidence of him being excluded from school on numerous occasions. I rang them at week 14 to let them know he has a special school place for September. I just thought it might help others if I pointed out what I sent as I found it hard to know what was relevant. Good luck to everyone who’s still waiting, the wait is agonising. I hope all your little people get what they deserve to make things easier for them.

Forgot to quote you in my last post, sorry it’s a duplicate post!

@Tiny1994 ive been through this. I moved over one week before the award. I fought UC over it for months because my TC claim was closed. Turns out you can tell TC but it has to be within 30 days. Theyll reopen your claim and manually do the backdate. Nobody told me until month 5 after my award. I fought TC for a further 3 months and gave up after MR decline because the 3k wasnt worth anymore stress. HMRC will not give in on the “you needed to tell us within 30 days” even though i stacked evidence of why thats so unfair and unreasonable. Please call TC. Good luck ❤️

Thank you @TheSnappyTurtle I will do

Morning all, just called to be told that my file is booked to be passed to a case manager this weekend. Scan date is 28/03, sounds positive I'm going to believe it and hope for the best!
Hope you all have a nice weekend x

Tiny19944 · 26/07/2024 09:54

Phoned CTC up been told it can take 10 weeks to sort any backdation. But because they only just found out about Carers allowance which I told them in 2022 for my son. But doesn't look like on system to recalculate everything before backdating.

I’m scared to call 🤣 my scan date is the same as you so hopefully hear something soon 😊

Im expecting to be rejected 😞 I played down a lot and played down the meltdowns because I didn’t understand exactly what meltdowns covered, it was so hard to fill them in and I wish I’d asked for help 😞

My claims apparently been with a dm to be looked at since Tuesday, he did say though that it could still be 2 weeks for a decision. My scan dates 1st April

16 weeks today 5/04 & still waiting! congratulations on people awarded & good luck to everyone else still waiting 🤞🏻

Just a message to anyone on edge about ringing. I finally braved it today after many failed attempts (i have severe anxiety also) and tbh it was a little bit pointless but still helped in anyway. The lady was so lovely to speak to which eased things for me but all she said was she confirmed I was 16 weeks and that it hasn't even been handed to a decision maker yet. She then told me to wait till 20 weeks which she worked out would be 23rd august. My little boys birthday is the 25th so even more fingers crossed for a good outcome within the next 4 weeks🤞🏻 still was comforting to have confirmation that they do still have my claim and don't need anything as of yet etc... hope this helps anyone like I said nervous about ringing or anything else x

Hi all!
scan date is 12/6
I received my son’s official diagnosis last week and currently waiting for the report to come through the post.
I will have to send it off to dla as further evidence but where do I send it and what do I need to include? TIA x

Cassiex · 26/07/2024 17:07

Hi, so I had. Missed call from a mobile number at 16.15 (I was working couldn't answer) could this have been DWP as when I call it back it says the number you have called is not recognised?
Tia x

Don't send originals. I made this mistake and they must've lost it as was never scanned on. Photocopy if you can.

I quiered this a bit further up, was told by someone when dm called them it was a 0800 number and they left a message saying they'd get back to them. I did message the number back and had no reply so still unsure who it was.

@GemzZ92 definitely! Good luck to you! How are you feeling because I know I am emotionally and mentally drained from this wait 😩

Ellie75su · 27/07/2024 08:22

Hi! I've been reading everyone's comments for weeks but haven't posted 🫣 firstly congrats to everyone who has been awarded for your little ones. For those who are still fighting, don't give up 💪

My scan date is the 28.3.2024. I've had only 2 letters, one to confirm receipt of forms and one to say sorry we haven't made a decision yet it could take up to 15 weeks. I'm getting worried now. Whilst my girl doesn't have an official diagnosis she has been referred for an ADHD assessment by the wellbeing service. She was sent to the wellbeing service by the GP because she doesn't sleep (around 3/4 hours of broken sleep a night) recently she was screened for dyslexia and results showed she was a high risk for both dyslexia and working memory. Lots of sensory and behavioural issues. I only really had the letter from wellbeing service to show a plan and that she had sent the forms to school for an adhd referral. I had a SALT referral and report. Supporting letter from my daughter's grandparent supporting my child's struggled with sleep and day to day issues. We had a school nurse letter to say school had referred her and they had accepted her. School reports that showed she was behind her peers and struggled with friendships and focusing. School didn't write a supporting letter but said I could put the SEN contact details as she is suooorted by the SEN department. Being just over 17 weeks and not hearing anything I'm wondering if I should expect a decline for her. Thanks if you've gotten this far! And good luck to each and every one of you xx

Morning all, just querying - my daughter recently awarded HRC after a tribunal- was told that now she has turned 5 I would need to apply for mobility now I believe by doing a COC just for mobility. Can DLA change her awarded HRC rate if I put in a COC for mobility to be added? TIA X
