It's agonising making everyone wait as long as they do its also unfair you have to pled your case to people who no nothing about our kids or even disabilities.. they need a major update to how you claim and waiting times.. hopefully you get the award your looking for but can always ask for it looked at once you receive more information.. my sons adhd assessment is looking upto 5 year with the backlog and due to is been longer than 6 month since his autism diagnosis they cant take it from there, it's sad children in this day and age can't get the help they need quickly, my other sons autism assessment is looking at another year but then he's got to wait till he's 6 for adhd assessment aswell.. it's so annoying knowing your child is struggling but no help around.. if you ever need a rant I don't mind if you want to pm me.. hopefully we not waiting for long and we get some positive outcomes.. ☺️

It really is unfair how long they makes us wait for decisions , hopefully we will hear something about our claims soon🤞🏻

and thank you i appreciate that alot and same goes for you too, you can pm me too iff you need a rant ☺️

weve had a bad nights last night pretty much got no sleep at all and at same time ive came down with sickness bug i feel awefull so lazy day at home for us

I have everything crossed Friday is your day I pray for you that you have ur decision this week 🤞❤️❤️ i can’t believe the 1st person couldn’t see anything and was just like why u calling 🤣😩😩 their system is an absolute joke xx

Right 🤦🏻‍♀️ Even though it's an option "if you have waited more than 20 weeks and calling for an update" and she even started the call with "can you confirm you call for an update" 🤭 when she started to have a checks if there's any evidence missing for his special needs, I realised she can't see anything about additional check ups or my call history etc. Not putting too much hope as I don't want to feel disappointed.. but will give a call them on Friday for sure. But just wondering which option to choose.. 512 or 523 🤔

Thank you for your positive thoughts ✨️ 💕

Yes I completely understand I’m half of your wait time and sometimes I have to give my mind a break too it is extremely awful DLA do not realise, I cannot comprehend how you feel the time they have made you wait is unacceptable 😔

Hi everyone, congrats to those who have had their awards. And sending thoughts to you who are still waiting!

I have a question regarding calling DLA for priority. We are not in financial hardship at all, but my son's nursery pulled me to one side this week and explained that his needs are very high (a lot higher than initial assessments showed). He needs a 1-1 and additional support / funding now and this can only be qualified for once you have a DLA award. They can't fund this kind of support even on a temporary basis. They're honestly doing all they can and pushing regular rules to help as much as possible.

I applied 18/12/23, scan date 05/01/24. Declined in April (basically because I didn't have enough evidence at the time but we do now). MR scanned 06/05 with new evidence sent and received. So we are 5 weeks in, 6 weeks minimum to go. It will be school holidays if I wait. I'll most likely have to pull him from nursery for the rest of this term and September he won't be able to start until everything is sorted. I'm so sad as he has settled in well after a lot of work since April but he just needs a 1-1 etc. He's currently got emergency 6 week assessments in place to try and give him more but again the DLA is a huge barrier to what is available.

I was wondering if it would be worth calling and explaining this to see if priority is an option. I feel terrible to do this as we are not in financial hardship but on the other hand my boys made good progress and it's being harmed by this wait. It will set him back massively to have this huge gap, the 6 weeks out would be bad enough as he won't be able to go during holidays without the support in place. Any advice would be appreciated, thank you x

I called for similar reasons this week. Asked if it could be considered as DS has now had to be deregistered from mainstream so extra costs will now occur. I called Monday. Payment showing for tomorrow. I was 14 weeks yesterday for scan date so it was probably due in the next month anyway. But I would say worth the call. Means you can sort everything out ready for September and get the academic year off to a good start.

Hi ✨️ just called them. And used 512 option so straight to. After all the security questions lady is asking what's the reason of my call 🤦🏻‍♀️ She couldn't see any updates, not even the brief history of my calls or the reason of such a delay, so I needed briefly explain it myself. She then said she can transfer me to main department. Was on hold for a bit and the guy came back with information that it's with the decision maker so fingers crossed any time soon. E mail has been sent on 4th of June to chase this case up... so, pretty much similar outcome I have had before and unfortunately nothing happens. BUT one thing gives a bit hope without me asking he said Can I call them back on Friday as if decision will be done they will let me know by phone call 📞

Hopefully not too much longer now then 🤞 you've had to wait way too long as it is! How did your boys party go? Did he have a good day?xx

Thanks so much ♥️ glad you got sorted! I did call and they've not prioritised it as such. But they've added a note of the circumstances so hopefully it helps x

Congratulations to all getting positive results… good luck to those waiting still ….. Little update and questions …. Back pay went in on Tuesday, I’m assuming it will now be every 4 weeks from that payment ? …. Question 2 lol … so I wrote on my journal for Uc and filled out the change for Matthew now he has his dla award MRC & LRM , got the letter today too which was a surprise as expected it to be a week or two also took into school so they can get a photo copy for applying for stuff from my borough as they are the next one along and super stingy because our post code lol , sorry I side stepped lol , any way I’m concerned no one’s replied on my journal at all since I updated them last week … I’ve had no reply to my questions or comments for weeks but I thought maybe I’d get some sort of responses, how long roughly do they take to update and sort out the £150 ish , I’m assuming it will also be back dated to 16-01-24 like the dla was ?

So mines be refused!!! My poor 4 year has a speech delay. She gets frustrated and constantly has meltdowns. She doesn’t sleep. She’s waiting for an autism assessment. She has no danger awareness. Speech therapy have discharged her cause she’s gone from 5 words to 30. I’m sick of fighting a shitty system that’s failing my child! I’m so angry 🥲

Thischarmlessgirl · 13/06/2024 10:20

Hello, my child’s DLA renewal is up in July, the renewal application was received by DLA in March. My child receives Higher rate care and lower rate mobility currently. Today I randomly received a credit into my account for quite a substantial amount but no letter explaining what it’s for, I’m assuming perhaps they’ve awarded more mobility but I can’t get through on the phone. It’s the first time I’ve renewed so not sure if it’s something else, would appreciate anyone’s experience:advice? Thanks

I was awarded last Friday and updated UC straight away, they didn't respond to me either. I started messaging on my journal daily and this morning i've finally had a response.

all they said was that my change of circumstances had been completed correctly and that my case is with a specialist team to confirm my sons MRC award. I asked twice about back payment and she kind of ignored that bit, so I will go back and ask again.

So you received your award letter from DLA? i'm waiting for that fingers crossed it arrives today

So sorry 😞

Can you look into a MR? The best thing to do is call and ask for a statement of reasons why it was rejected. Sometimes they allow you to do the MR over the phone with them

i'm not sure and don't have any answers as i've never done a renewal before but have you tried calling and pressing the option for "update after 20 weeks" I can usually get through in 10 mins that way and they should either be able to answer if you have been awarded or put you through tk someone who can
