Scan date 28/06/24, so 15 weeks today, should I ring ?

Can't do any harm to call...

Garfield456 · 12/06/2024 09:15

I called them yesterday and was told claim has been with a dm since last week, so thought i would try today, got someone called Sam, have to say she wasnt very nice at all, told me it wasnt with a dm and basically not to call back 😂. Scan date 28.02

CeePee23 · 12/06/2024 09:16

First time poster.

SD 22/02. Phoned two weeks ago to be told it was with a decision maker. Phoned yesterday to be told it wasn’t and it wouldn’t be until the end of the week, and to then expect it to take at least two weeks from there 😞

happyclapper12 · 12/06/2024 09:23

Is options 532, the best

Garfield456 · 12/06/2024 09:24

@happyclapper12 yeah

Mummyof6love · 12/06/2024 09:27

16 weeks today and still not with a DM. Scan date 21/02. Hopefully next week. Good luck everyone waiting and congrats on awards already given xx

CeePee23 · 12/06/2024 09:28

@Garfield456 sounds like you had the same person as me! They did pause for a very long time and muttered “where is it” so I’m assuming it had been lost somewhere hence why it didn’t go to a decision maker at 15 weeks…

Garfield456 · 12/06/2024 09:31

@CeePee23 aw i hope not, it might be that she hadnt put your details in, tbh i felt that she didnt even check mine and just wanted me off the phone.

CeePee23 · 12/06/2024 09:37

@Garfield456 just can’t work out the way they send to the decision maker as how can people with dates from the 20th have received decisions/money, but scan dates two days later haven’t even been sent to the decision maker?

My son is on a reduced timetable at school at the moment so just feeling mega stressed in general and the wait isn’t helping. Think I thought it would be 15 weeks max!

Garfield456 · 12/06/2024 09:42

@CeePee23 It might be with a decision maker, some of them just say its not to put you off ringing back up, they all say different things so its hard to tell what is actually happening. I dont think most of them understand how stressful it is for us parents waiting a long time to find out if our child is going to get the support they need/ deserve or if we have to fight even more than we already do.

Adaisy · 12/06/2024 09:49

I got a text from DLA on the 20th of may “still looking at claim” my scan date is 12/02, still not heard nothing, should I ring?

Garfield456 · 12/06/2024 09:50

@Adaisy yeah, hopefully you dont get sam 😂

CeePee23 · 12/06/2024 09:51

@Garfield456 hadn’t thought of it like that. It’s really frustrating how inconsistent it is. I think that if the decision isn’t going to be made within the 15 week timeframe that they should at least message you and give a revised timeframe.

you’re right about the stress. I feel like my application will be rejected because my son has a complex condition that’s not fully recognised by the nhs. Can’t imagine doing an MR though 😞

Sarahdestiny · 12/06/2024 09:54

Hi guys wondering if anyone can help me
I recieve high rate care componant for my son he turns 3 in December so I have rang to request to add mobility on for when he's 3 and they said they will be sending the forms out ..I am wondering
Do I have to re do the whole form again like it's a whole new claim or do I have to just sign the mobility part of the form and leave the care side empty and send that in I am confused 😕

Adaisy · 12/06/2024 09:55

Garfield456 · 12/06/2024 09:50

I am not sure ,, I doubt you’d have to do the whole thing again i wouldn’t mess about with the whole of it just in case !! I would just do the mobility section and send all evidence you have as to why he should have HRM add a piece of paper writing as my son is now 3 i am now applying for mobility under what rules or what reason your applying for HRM ,, & just say this mobility section has been filled in and completed and for this to be added onto your current award that’s what I’d do hun xx

Sarahdestiny · 12/06/2024 10:06

@Emma2345 yes il do that as don't want them change care componant rate again after I've just won the MR for that and also I still haven't sorted UC out they taking piss lol x

Garfield456 · 12/06/2024 10:08

@CeePee23 yeah exactly or there should be a way for us to check progress online, the call handlers ( some of them) have an awful attitude but if we didnt call them they wouldnt all have jobs.

ThatWittyRuby · 12/06/2024 10:18

I think by the time I hear anything I'll have to complete PIP forms, my daughter will be 16 in September 🤦🏼‍♀️

SD 26/02

Adaisy · 12/06/2024 10:21

Been on the phone they said no decision still, he’s messaged the decision maker to try and push it, which I couldn’t be happier that he done that fingers crossed I hear by the end of the week

CeePee23 · 12/06/2024 10:22

@Garfield456 so true!

Think im just going to leave it until 20 weeks now as I just can’t face being given a generic response anymore

I've not had any communication since the original letter confirming they had received the claim form. It's such a long anxious wait isn't it. I may call them later, slightly put off calling as the guy I spoke to before was really off with me, I felt like I was an inconvenience to his day!

I'm sorry to hear that, I don't know if your like me but calls like that make me feel anxious all day. I've rang a few times and it's hit and miss. One guy sounded so angry I'd bothered him another was absolutely lovely. I put it down to them probably having a bad call earlier. Still doesn't make it right but I hope If you have to call again you get a nice one.

sayasand · 12/06/2024 10:34

Hi everyone, congrats to those who have had their awards. And sending thoughts to you who are still waiting!

I have a question regarding calling DLA for priority. We are not in financial hardship at all, but my son's nursery pulled me to one side this week and explained that his needs are very high (a lot higher than initial assessments showed). He needs a 1-1 and additional support / funding now and this can only be qualified for once you have a DLA award. They can't fund this kind of support even on a temporary basis. They're honestly doing all they can and pushing regular rules to help as much as possible.

I applied 18/12/23, scan date 05/01/24. Declined in April (basically because I didn't have enough evidence at the time but we do now). MR scanned 06/05 with new evidence sent and received. So we are 5 weeks in, 6 weeks minimum to go. It will be school holidays if I wait. I'll most likely have to pull him from nursery for the rest of this term and September he won't be able to start until everything is sorted. I'm so sad as he has settled in well after a lot of work since April but he just needs a 1-1 etc. He's currently got emergency 6 week assessments in place to try and give him more but again the DLA is a huge barrier to what is available.

I was wondering if it would be worth calling and explaining this to see if priority is an option. I feel terrible to do this as we are not in financial hardship but on the other hand my boys made good progress and it's being harmed by this wait. It will set him back massively to have this huge gap, the 6 weeks out would be bad enough as he won't be able to go during holidays without the support in place. Any advice would be appreciated, thank you x

Put the manditory reconsideration in in the mean time as they taking 15 weeks to do xx

I’m going to give them a call later on and ask for some advice, I don’t want it to seem as though I’ve taken the back payment and then decided to reconsider🤣hopefully I speak to someone nice 😅xx

Garfield456 · 12/06/2024 10:44

@sayasand I would give them a ring, it wont hurt to ask them as surely you should be given priority because of the circumstances, your child basically cant go to nursery without the dla being sorted.
