Just found out my little boy has been awarded MRC for 2 years. Scan date was 15/02. Text on 31/05 to say still looking. Decision was made on 7/06. I haven’t had a payment yet or a letter but a very helpful lady called Maya gave me all the details when I rang just now. I burst into tears. I think I’d parked it and just expected a decline. So pleased for my little boy.

thats amazing congratulations ☺️

Can't remember if i've commented. Parking scan date 30/04. Anyone with similar time to me? x

Me! I'm 29/04, so at 6 weeks now (which has gone surprisingly fast!).

Hello to anyone who may be able to give me some advice? I received a letter 18th April saying they received my sons form on the 5/04/24. I then got another letter on 23/05/24 saying they still haven’t got a decision, it could take 15 weeks, do not need to contact them etc. I’m just wondering what I expect now based on peoples experiences? I do not put my son or myself above anyone else’s needs but the urgency for this DLA is becoming unbearable. I’m hoping someone can help with what sort of letter I should receive next or a rough date of when my son should be awarded or even if I should be contacting them at some point to see what is happening. I understand fully it’s a long wait but can’t help feeling this helpless to our situation

Brittany95 · 11/06/2024 20:51

Firstly just want to say congratulations to everyone who has been awarded today i am very happy for all that have been awarded .

im feeling abit low today and just feel like i need to get this of my chest in hopes that ill feel somewhat a little cleare headed …. So I know im only on week 10 today (11/02/24) SD is 02/04/24
but i am honestly just soo stressed and anxious with all this waiting for a decision from DLA. I know it sounds stupid and i probably have no right to feel stressed about it as everyone else is going through the exact same thing and alot of people have been waiting soo much longer than me, but i just cant stop thinking what iff i dont get awarded it for my son i feel like ive fought soo much soo far and somedays i just feel so low like i have no strength anymore i just feel useless even though im doing everything i possibly can to get my son the help and support he needs and deserves. ( i wont give up)

i just hope and pray that once i get a decision its a possitive one🤞🏻
i got my sons keyworker at nursery to fill out the part of the form of someone who knows my child well. I didnt have much evidence to send as my son is still waiting to be assessed for autism but i did send copies of 2observations from the Local authority/cleveland unit , both copies of SEN plans and also information from the EHCP refferral as there was alot of information on there from myself and my sons nursery about his needs ect.

im just hoping that iff DLA do want more information that theyll contact my sons nursery as the manager/SENCO is amazing and will go into soo much detail as she also wants whats best for my son too and obviouslt knows him soo much better than the peadiatrician/ doctors

Chin up your not alone everyone's feeling more the same.. I got awarded 2 year ago with my son first time I ever applied for him and I had no diagnosis just sent letters of appointments and explained what he was like.. he was awarded hrc he's due for renewal September and he's now got his diagnosis for autismand awaiting adhd assessment.. you will be fine fingers crossed for you.. I am now waiting to here for my other son he's younger not diagnosed but is exactly the same as his brother he's waiting for diagnosis.. I feel I ain't wrote enough or sent enough for him but time will tell it's so stressful but keep putting notes on paper what you think will help if you need to ask for it looked at again cos I think I've missed alot out and things I forgot to add as your brain goes blank filling the forms.. you be okay and will hopefully get the help he deserves ❤️

Hi,
i sent my sons forms 28/03/24
DLA recieved them 02/04/24
i then got the same letter appologising on no decision yet which was dated 20/05/24

I also feel similar to how your feeling but from reading others comments it looks like it could be 15-20weeks before we get a decision. So possibly another 5-10weeks

fingers crossed we hear something soon 🤞🏻

Work out 15 weeks from your letter date and if you don't here anything after that date ring up and ask them what's happening.. any time before that date they just fob you off

i phoned the ASD team last week and i was told that my sons final diagnosis appointment is looking to be feb-march 2025 meaning that the asessments ect will begin early jan 2025. They did say it could be earlier as they are trying to put on more clinics to get through the waiting list quicker but atleast i have somewhat of an idea how much long i have left to wait for the assessment process to begin for my son.

im happy to hear your son was awarded 2years ago and now has a diagnosis . And i hope your not waiting too long for adhd assessment for you son🤞🏻
good luck for your claim for your you ger son i have fingers crossed for you that he gets awarded also… it deffinitely is stressful, my mind also went blank i had my mam help help me she asked me the questions i explain and she wrote it down as it was easier that way, then i went back and added more before sending it… yeah thats a good idea i have quite alot wrote down about how my son is and his needs and im sure his nursery will write something for me too iff i need to do a MR but hopefully we will get awarded and i wont have to ask for it to be looked at again 🤞🏻

I went through this process last year - took 18 1/2 weeks and absolute torture. I'm now waiting for my other child and on 15 weeks + 1 day. They seem to be processing slightly quicker this time round. The 15 weeks letter you got, apparently they were "going to change that" last year because it's rubbish. Looking at the current pattern, about week 14/15 you'll get a text saying they're still looking at the claim. Shortly after that it will be sent to a decision maker. From there it can be same day or 4 weeks before a decision is made. Some get a text to say they've been awarded but not everyone. I'd fight the urge to call until about 16 weeks, not many are going to find anything out before that. If awarded then it's 3 to 5 working days for the backpay to be in your account. So by 20 weeks, hopefully you'll have the money In your account. Once you know the rates, if you're on UC, you put a note for your work coach on your journal saying the dates / rates of dla and can it please be passed to a decision maker for backpay on disabled child element. ( Think you need to change child's circumstances too. ) Now the note you need to copy before sending. Then add another journal note under payments and paste. Work coaches can take weeks to get back to you, payments do it in days. Then it's about 2 weeks for uc backpay to be paid. Also do the same for carers element if you're not already getting it and change your circumstances to caring for the child from the date awarded dla.

Strawbsss · 11/06/2024 23:21

Curious - is anyone's scan date a weekend? Mines 26th Feb and a Monday. Hoping I'm 2 days closer than I think to decision on the pretence that 24th and 25th scan dates don't exist 😂

It's agonising making everyone wait as long as they do its also unfair you have to pled your case to people who no nothing about our kids or even disabilities.. they need a major update to how you claim and waiting times.. hopefully you get the award your looking for but can always ask for it looked at once you receive more information.. my sons adhd assessment is looking upto 5 year with the backlog and due to is been longer than 6 month since his autism diagnosis they cant take it from there, it's sad children in this day and age can't get the help they need quickly, my other sons autism assessment is looking at another year but then he's got to wait till he's 6 for adhd assessment aswell.. it's so annoying knowing your child is struggling but no help around.. if you ever need a rant I don't mind if you want to pm me.. hopefully we not waiting for long and we get some positive outcomes.. ☺️

Timeline for a COC:

Scan date 14/02/24
Decision made 11/06/24

Good luck everyone :)

Hope you got the outcome you were expecting :-)

Same scan date for COC as me. How did you find out your decision had been made? Letter, over the phone or a payment?

wurlycurlywurly · 12/06/2024 05:54

@TeamNoSleepHere I called and they told me on the phone (HRC, LRM), I've had no letters or texts at all other than the original we've received your documents. Also awarded to 2031 so that's a relief as it has been every 2years up until now!

Hope you hear soon and it's a positive outcome :)

Ring to do a manditory reconsideration then send the evidence in for it and it should get backdated high rate to the start of claim x

to register her as blind I have to sign a document with one of the doctors so hopefully the appointment isn’t too far away and then I can send off the extra evidence 🤞🏼x

My SD is also 26/02 I've not noticed anyone with a SD of 24-25, I was wondering the same as you, although at this point I think we are probably clutching at straws for answers. Fingers crossed we both get favorable outcomes soon 🤞🏼

my scan date is also 27th feb not seen anyone awarded around that date yet? in the last week ive seen people scan dates from 15th to 20th being done debating wether to phone again as its been 15 weeks and still haven't had a text

RachCCE · 12/06/2024 08:34

Morning everyone,

Scan date 06/03

Woke up today to see back pay clearing in my account later today (monzo so comes a day early)

I called yesterday to ask to prioritise as had to deregister from school last week. Can't really think a priority request works that fast? But I was exactly 14 weeks from scan date when I called yesterday (22 weeks from phone call).

From rough workings looks like MRC and LRM. Really pleased as just started mat leave and now means I can access and pay for things that I wouldn't have been able to afford for him like swimming lessons, and forest school - his favourite parts of school!

Fingers crossed for everyone getting decisions soon. It's been a long old time since I called January 2nd!

I've not had any communication since the original letter confirming they had received the claim form. It's such a long anxious wait isn't it. I may call them later, slightly put off calling as the guy I spoke to before was really off with me, I felt like I was an inconvenience to his day!

KLCA · 12/06/2024 08:37

What time does DLA open? I just had a missed call from no caller id and no voicemail left. I’m wondering if it was them?
