@MrsRawl literally UC are so ignorant but when they put something on there for you to do you have a deadline and have to do it and they are absaloutly useless it's a joke how shite they are 😄 n sounds like they have proper messed yours up ffs hopefully they will sort it all out soon for you there so stupid honestly x

I have just unfortunately been through similar after making a new UC claim last month after receiving a migration notice.

The response or lack of from messages on the journal is poor but when i've contacted them over the phone, there's not much of a wait time but usually you'll get through to someone miserable and snotty.

I gave all the correct information when making our new claim and by the time the first statement came in, they still hadn't done the child verification part which meant there was no child element on our first payment, no disabled child element and because of the children missing, they subsequently reduced the HB too as they said we had unoccupied bedrooms.

It took several phone calls and a complaint to get it sorted out. It's frustrating that they are telling people that they must move over to UC but at the same time, they can't complete new claims in a reasonable timeframe.

We’ve been on UC since 2019 so it’s all we’ve ever known really. Up to now we’ve never had any issues but soon as we get the DLA sorted they start messing everything up. We’re still waiting for my son to be verified so they can add the disabled element on, I’m surprised there is no faster system for it all, especially with having everyone migrate over from tax credits etc. I bet it’s so stressful when it’s missing so much off your statement. We only get a very small top up because of my husbands wages, we usually get around £300 and this month we’re getting nearly £1300, with no reply and it due to be paid tomorrow I’m going have to just with draw it and put it to one side and wait for them to contact me, wouldn’t mind but over paying some people could cause so many problems because if people are struggling they’ll just spend it but I know we’d suffer months after anyway so that’s why I’ll put it away.
i don’t think I’ll ring them, I never rang dla because I can’t cope with rude people on the phone

Aussielover · 23/05/2024 16:28

@SK2024 thank you so much for that. I think a lot are overturned for the better when it goes to MR, its almost like our way of saying I won't give up without a fight.

I will definitely do it via letter, over the phone is a trap and people can't think straight when they are in that mist of frustration and anger.x

@Mommy2boys30 just curious as to why they are waiting until your little one is 3 to award hrc. My daughter only turns 3 in August and she was awarded hrc till August 2026. Maybe an idea to query it with them

I have no idea the guy who told me he's got middle rate care but on the notes says it goes to high rate care from August I think I will call again tomorrow to double check what was said I was just overwhelmed knowing he got awarded

My COC form was delivered 14th May and just got a letter today 23rd May (letter dated 16th May) to acknowledge they received it on the 14th May and it goes on to say to only contact them if I've not received a decision in 11 weeks.

I'm 12 weeks now my coc is 4/03 , I have not even got 1 text or letter

Fee89 · 23/05/2024 18:35

@Aussielover I suggest starting your MR over the phone then writting a letter and sending it in as 'evidence'. I wrote to request an MR. Sent it on the 7th, they scanned it 9th, i rang to check it was scanned on the 15th. I spoke to a lovely guy called Dan. He stated if he starts it as a phone request it will be accepted straight away but when you write in it takes longer to be accepted.....so although its scanned on the 9th it doesnt register as a MR until its been checked over and allocated to that dep. Thats why you find letters are dated way after your scan date. The date of the letter is when you form is accepted and sent to correct dept......hope that makes sense. I got letter today dated 15th as thats when he logged it xx

Does anyone know how back pay from carers allowance works if we’re on uc?
I’ve put a note on uc asking for disabled element and carers element to be backdated, and I’ve just applied for carers allowance so I’m expecting a back pay from them if they accept my application,

will uc offset the carers element they owe against the CA back pay and then just take monthly payments off my uc every month? So confused with it all!

Kla1913 · 23/05/2024 18:44

Thought I'd make a new thread as this one is filling up xxx

when I did mine last year, uc will backdate your disability and carers element but usually wait til you’ve confirmed carers allowance ( which they are quicker anyway ) and your back payment will come from carers allowance instead of uc, I had alittle bit from uc from where the benefit cap was taken off but not a lot. Going forward you will get your carers allowance and it will just come off your uc but you won’t loose any money as it the same amount as the disability and carers element. I hope I haven’t confused you lol

Brill thanks!
I did put a note on my journal about disability element and carers element and did COC on my uc account before I applied for carers allowance as I wasn’t sure how to go about it all🙈 do i need to inform uc I’ve applied for CA or is it best to wait until CA confirm our application? As when I did COC on uc it asked when I put caring for someone if we receive CA and i put no because I hadn’t applied for it at that time? Xx

Aussielover · 23/05/2024 19:22

@Fee89 thank you. I have more evidence I'm just waiting for sen school placement to be accepted which will be soon, shall I just send what I've got and then send the acceptance letter or wait and send everything together? Xx

Jempeech · 23/05/2024 19:24

Anyone awarded this week know how long for back payments ?

I did my carers allowance straight after aswell, I just put a note on my journal saying I’ve just applied for carers allowance and they replied asking to inform them when I hear back from them, when I confirmed I was now getting CA they sorted out my uc the day after

MR wait is about same time as new claims atm. If you know its going to be soon then just send it all off together. You get one month to request a MR so you dont need to rush xx

Aussielover · 23/05/2024 19:37

@Fee89 I'm hoping it will come through in the next 2 weeks, once MR is in, can you send additional evidence during the wait time? Sorry for so many questions xx

Ask away 💖. I got told to just send key info and get it in within 6 weeks. He saw i had LOADS of evidence so said i shouldnt need to send anymore as they go back over previous evidence aswell xx

I can’t directly help with your query but can you believe how shocking the service is ran.
i bet they’d have no issues sending out a sanction but trying to get a reply is ridiculous. I’m due to be paid tomorrow but they’ve some how fluffed my statement up, so are paying us a lot more than we are due, we’ve got the carers element added but no disabled child element as they said it takes ages to verify that and they have no time frame ( so why pay me carers now then too ) and somehow 2 of my husbands wages are completely missing off our statement and his work are so confused because they’ve done everything they usually do, but my god trying to get a reply from them is awful. Is calling them any better do you know or is that just as shoddy 😂

Same happened to me. I was overpaid one month as they said I had no earnings for that month. My employer has paid my wage for 5 years and reported to HMRC for me so why would they stop all of a sudden. I think the issue is with them. I was told to speak to my employer about to sort it out. They don’t know what they’re doing half the time.
