Thank you 🤞🏻 I really appreciate your positive thoughts. I wish I could be more firm with them. More than 26 weeks from scan date 🙃

Edited

I know bless you it has been hard I have sort of picked up on things going on through reading the thread and always felt so bad what you been put through with all this and hope this person you spoke to today will actually get this sorted for you as you deserve to know and hoping it is a good one so you can move forward from all the worry with this at least and it is awarded for your child 🤞 ❤️

I have a question. So I’m on the benefit cap, I asked someone in my journal if this will be lifted and they kind of just ignored the question and sent something that don’t make sense. I called them up and the lady on the phone doesn’t have a clue if the cap will be lifted with HRC and HRM. She said I needed to apply for carers element of UC is this not the same as carers allowance? I’m honestly so confused of what I now need to apply for or who to tell. I’ve posted a picture of what they said and they have completely ignored the question

@Fee89 @Zoes3d1 thank you so much for this emotional support 🫂💗
They have no idea how much they affects my mental health as well to letting me go through this all. I mention that even on my letter that I do understand it's unusual case and they need to do additional check ups because with that survivor's pension. But have they ever thought how much it triggers and upsets me that the reason of this delay is extremely painful and traumatic. That on every single call I need to go through that again and again. And it's not even about my boys special needs and support he deserves.

No carers element is different and is part of uc but carers allowance is where you become a carer for a person or child

So do I apply for both? Or do I only get one or the other. I don’t want to apply for things I’m not entitled to and I don’t want to take the p**s if that makes sense 🤣 I e never done this before and they are making it sound so confusing

Zoes3d1 · 23/05/2024 12:23

@Matilde08 honestly it's heartbreaking what you been through and I did think that every time you call having to go over and over must be so triggering and it's not fair at all 😢 I honestly don't understand the ins and outs of the system but I thought dla was not means tested and anyone no matter income savings etc could get it for child if needed? so confused why this would of held this all up for you for so long and just so sorry its causing such trauma and have everything crossed this person today will be on it for you to get to the bottom of it all and outcome you truly deserve it 🤞 ❤️

  • Scan date: 12/02
  • Received two letters
  • Received two texts on Monday and Tuesday stating they are still reviewing the claim
  • Called on Monday – the claim was still not with the Decision Maker
  • Called today – the claim is still not with the DM. I was politely advised not to call until 1 July, as the current waiting times are around 20 weeks.
222a · 23/05/2024 12:28

@Kell85 you are exempt from the benefit cap if you claim DLA and carers element on uc,

My scan date 6/2 and very similar time line to yours apart from only had 1 text last week and was told it was with decision maker when I called but from reading these threads will take that with a pinch of salt lol as seen others been told that on one call it's with decision maker and the next time they call someone else tells them it is not with decision maker yet 🙈 I'm going to hold out to not call again untill 20 weeks as it is to stressful ain't it not knowing who you going to talk to at the end of the phone and it just leaves you deflated xx

That's exactly it has been stated that no others incomes should affect it.. and he's eligibility to have that support as he's special need kid. It means just because he was a bit unlucky to loose his daddy at such a young age means he's not eligible for DLA support. I do not have any other support from his dad's family, not even emotional (don't want to go into details as it's already tragic what happened) but here I am trying to move on with my life and look after my boys as best as I can and to face this doesn't make any sense.
I really hope this lady today really meant what she said. I wish I could ask for a time line at least approx, but I was too anxious to hear the same any time soon now and another week passes by with nothing.
@Fee89 when you were told back then it will be treated like an emergency, what do they mean by that.. within days, week?

Zoes3d1 · 23/05/2024 12:52

@Matilde08 it definitely does not make any sense at all to put you through this 😢 I'm so sorry for all you been through and I hope and pray this mess gets sorted soon then I would seriously consider putting in complaint and let them realise what they have done to you over these last months. You certainly are one strong mumma bear ❤️

I heard back within one working day (friday priority, monday awarded). Im hoping they do the same for you. It could be worth calling tomorrow at same time you called today, explain what she said and ask if she has left any notes on your case. Just so you are kept updated x

I think I should consider that no matter what's the decision. Because like @Fee89 said I don't want that to happen to others. I am patient person, but I don't think it's OK how my boys claim have been handled.

Seems like HRC LRM , £2110 divided by 16 weeks works out around £131 something a week HRC £108.55 a week which makes £434.20 a month and low rate mobility is £28.70 a week which makes £114.80 so total per month is £549 your total of £2110 divided by 16 X by 4 weeks is £527 a month for the 16 weeks u was waiting rates went up only in April so probably why it’s a bit less hope this helps x

Thank you 😊

carers allowance affects ur UC for every penny you get so do not apply for that apply for the carers element of UC as that doesn’t affect your money hope this helps x

Carers allowance is separate to uc, if you go on gov it’ll tell you everything about it, if you wanted to claim it it’s totally separate from your uc and it’s about 81 pound a week they pay which gets deducted from your uc £ for £. There is an income threshold though so your earnings can’t be above x amount to claim. You can still apply for carers element on uc regardless of whether you have carers allowance or not and there’s no threshold on how much income etc regardless, but your wages etc will deduct from uc as normal as a whole

To claim carers element on your uc account go to report a change and click caring for someone and then fill in the details

whether you claim carers allowance or not there is no difference in your total income per month, it just means that carers allowance is paid weekly and deducted from uc rather than having the full amount paid monthly with uc

you should be exempt from benefit cap with DLA and carers xx

Hi, I've been a long time watcher of the posts, this is my very first post. Scan date for my son is 28/03. We have been through this process before with my son who's 13, to be honest didn't even know about DLA until we were told by his key worker.
My youngest is on the autism pathway, he's 2 in a few weeks. After speaking to the health visitor we applied for him, I know how long this can take as my older child we applied in July and it wasn't completed (MR) until February!
What I wanted to ask to anyone who can help if possible is I've noticed some people say they are awarded high rate care from three. Is it the case that under three year olds are only allowed middle rate? I know there is no mobility before they reach five but I thought high rate care based on day and night needs was possible? Or am I completely wrong? Thanks so much!

There’s no age limit on care rates as far as I’m aware xx

Thanks so much, I did think that was the case but saw a comment earlier about high rate care from age three, then another one on another forum about middle rate as under three. It had me wondering!
Thanks again for getting back to me xx

I called today scan date 16/2 and she told me I would hear by the end of the month which would make me 15 weeks, shes also put me down to receive a text because the reality of me being able to call on half term week is non existent
