@Aussielover We got a 1.5 year award. He is 3.5years I was disappointed at the length but that's the length they give at them ages. I'm hoping at renewal it will be until 16 I will fight really hard for that

We were also delayed because we hadn’t claimed child benefit. We didn’t get any acknowledgment that we’ve even sent the form from the date the Royal Mail special delivery showed it was signed for (19/12) until late February. When I called it was because I hadn’t claimed child benefit. My older dc where we had claimed child benefit had an NI number already and we got a text with a scan date within a few weeks.

MissHavershamReturns · 30/03/2024 08:39

@Jadexxx92 I’m confused by this list. I have another dc who got dla last year age 11. HRC, LRM awarded for only 3 years.

Hi. This list is the gov guidance for dla awards for the DM.. them award lengths are for Globle development delay. They have different award length guidelines for each condition/disability, I applied for my son at 2 was awarded until his 5th birthday

MissHavershamReturns · 30/03/2024 08:46

Hi @Jadexxx92 thanks so much for explaining. This makes more sense now and really hope you get up to 16 next time.

I have a horrible feeling we will get a really short award this time.

No problem, just pop that into Google and download the sheet, there will be a long list of conditions and disabilities that will hopefully give you a rough guide of what to expect.. good luck with your children's awards!

Oh thats makes sense! i think what happened is they paid me from my scan date as i sent the forms back late (i did put on the forms it was late due to waiting for a letter from the teacher)
do you think its worth calling and asking to be paid from my call date instead?

My son was awarded HRC LM until 2025 🥹😭

Im so happy i don't have to do this again for a while either! ♥️

So sorry I've been busy with the kids being off school for Easter.
You could try and see if they'll award based on it being the teacher who delayed it so out of our control. X

Is that a list of conditions that are mostly to be accepted by DLA ?

Aussielover · 31/03/2024 07:10

@Jadexxx92 thank you I have seen this already and in my opinion, my child is severe with his behaviours, I will go tribunal for an award until 16 because describing my sons self harm and non verbal and cannot gesture - nothing, it hurts to say never mind the fact I had to come to terms with it myself x I'm hoping between now and decision I'll have the sen school offered to me and at Mr I'll have that as evidence because a sen school shows the severity x

Aussielover · 31/03/2024 07:29

@Jadexxx92 is your son diagnosed? X

Jadexxx92 · 31/03/2024 10:18

@Aussielover yes my boy idls diagnosed GGD ASD. The ASD does not cover much of SMI were GDD Does. My boy self harms bites head buts him self others. He goes to a specialist nursery only 5 children and 7 staff members and will be going special school. He can't understand ANYTHING. no words no geusters nothing. I will be expecting an award until 16 once he turns 5. I understand why they wait until that little but older, as some may say that there 2.5 year old should be entitled until 16. But 2.5 is a little but to young and so it 3 so I agree with the award being long after the 5th birthday. Also its not possible to MR award length or I possible would have done it my self.

Jadexxx92 · 31/03/2024 10:23

@Aussielover is your boy in a special needs nursery, I think this helped us an awful lot as he could not attend a mainstream one his nursery wrote ample reports on him.

Jadexxx92 · 31/03/2024 10:27

@Kaz87 hi. That is a list for the DM to go by from the government website. I think all are acceptable with enough evidence to back up conditions/ disabilities along with care needs.

Thank you 😊 x

Aussielover · 31/03/2024 11:29

@Jadexxx92 he isn't in a special nursery but has a lot of intervention from professionals who go inside the nursery to guide, we don't have a sen nursery anywhere near us.
If you research the milestones and progress of a 3 year old, if your child doesn't do anything then it wouldn't be top young to argue his age and his inability to do stuff because it would be expected at this age - being non verbal vs a child age 3 knowing over 500 words is a huge gap between peers, I will take it to tribunal because there is a doctor and/or disability expert on the panel and I'll show them videos of how he is to give them the bigger picture xx

Jadexxx92 · 31/03/2024 11:38

@Aussielover I'm happy for now we have been granted what he deserves through SMI when it comes to the renewal then I will expect a bigger award and will fight it all the way. There is no way to challenge the award length I have looked into this. My sons special needs nursery is over 1hr away he goes 2 times aweek it's really hard as it's so far away so this mobility will be a god send. I thought I would have to go to tribunal to fight for it to start with I see so many cases getting rejected for children in a full time special needs setting so was preparing to fight at court, I wish you luck with your children's awards x

Jadexxx92 · 31/03/2024 11:45

@Aussielover has your boy had Genetic Testing for Developmental Disabilities, Intellectual Disability, and Autism Spectrum Disorder, this is a good thing to put forward to DLA. I know this can take over 6months x

Aussielover · 31/03/2024 14:47

@Jadexxx92 no we didn't get offered this, not sure if it's because he's so young? My son is diagnosed with Autism and gdd
Hes been diagnosed for a year now, no further forward than 12m ago which is why I think he meets the criteria, I have a lot of professionals who think he needs it too x

LyndaLaHughes · 31/03/2024 18:12

How long after you get awarded does the confirmation letter come? I've still not had one and award was two weeks ago.

Our post takes ages to get to us, plus theres the easter holidays so probs taking slightly longer?

Lauzyparkzy · 03/04/2024 13:11

Just a heads up looks like renewals are taking just as long I had a letter about our renewal with a approx 15 week time scale on it, or is thus just a standard letter does anyone know? If not looks like it all take just as long as a new claim

Cannotbearsedanymore · 08/04/2024 08:40

Finally got awarded after a long wait and then continuing to fight. I don't feel the award is correct and I have further evidence.... Do I send it in and fight for a higher rate?

Or best leave it and be grateful my child has something. Worried it may effect it and get nothing.
What have people done in this situation ?

Definitely fight on if you’re not happy we have currently 7 weeks into a MR I don’t think they can lower it at MR they use that to scare people not to do so good luck you also have more evidence send that with the MR

Parking 🚗
Scan date 12.12.2023
Week 17th and so far nothing no outcome.
This is so nerve wrecking 😩😣

Amystar787 · 09/04/2024 09:18

Long time lurking first time posting.
My son has finally been awarded, low rate care element but we were expecting that.
Scan date 11/12/23, I recieved 2 letters at the start and nothing else.

Have had a back payment in my account today.

We have been chilled and just waited but it feels great to finally have an answer. 😊

Just the long wait for the conformation letter.
