@TiredTilly she's 2 she will be 3 in August. I knew from her being around 10 months old. My oldest son who is 21 was diagnosed with mild autism at 17 year old. He is now in a mental health care home. We are in leigh Lancashire near Wigan. I waited a year n half for her first pead app. Shocking really.

Oh wow your’re near to me. So strange how things are done differently. My son is the same 2 becoming 3 in August. All the professionals have said he is severely autistic, the paediatrician, speech therapist, SEN specialist & the HV. They’ve put him on the pathway for August and he will get the diagnoses at 5, they don’t diagnose any child below. Very strange.
im glad things are moving forward quick for you 💐❤️

24/11 Parking

Stookey · 19/03/2024 11:51

Waited on hold for 1 hour to be told, still waiting on a decision. Asked if it was with someone who makes decisions and she said ‘it’s in a queue for a case manager’, asked if she had any idea on timescale and was told end of next month!!! The whole process is painful. Asked if I would be updated when it’s processed and was told ‘they should get in touch with you’ 😩 Scan date 28/11

Parking 22/11

Parking again 17/11

Just a quick update for those of you that have also been told they’ve had to send off for a reference number / NI number.

I called HMRC yesterday to try and find out roughly how long this process can take. They said it can be anything from 3-6 weeks for this number to be generated. She said it can then take a bit of extra time to start moving though the DLA system again once they’ve got the number.

so I guess the timescale that DWP gave me of end of April / beginning of May would be about right 🙄

On the plus side, HMRC have different music so at least now whilst I’m chasing them for the number I’ll have something different to listen to 😂 xx

Squadmum41 · 19/03/2024 12:03

Parking 19/01 and 29/01.......the never ending story continues 🤦‍♀️

3boysand2girls · 19/03/2024 12:03

@TiredTilly have they actually told you that you won't get a diagnoses until 5 ? So strange because speech specialist has just told me that it's her assessment that will be approved by consultant and diagnoses will be given in a few months at my daughters next app she did say that because all my daughters genetic testing came back fine it rules out any other reason for elizas symptoms and autism is definatly the diagnoses needed. Also waiting for o.t she said she may have hypermobility.

Omg that long

I know 😩 but they did say it may be sooner so 🤞

I only found out that they’d requested it yesterday. I’m sure you said you were waiting at least a week ago weren’t you? So hopefully you should hear before end of April at the very latest 🤞 xx

I didn’t get the option of genetic testing. Yes they said legally they can’t diagnose a child under 5 because things may change. Even though he is exactly like his older brother who is severely autistic non verbal GDD incontinent. They’ve agreed that both my boys are the same but just ‘legally’ the doctor can’t diagnose till 5. I think I’m being lied to ☹️

This is way too long 🙁. Have they mentioned anything about escalating your case?

Parking.... 8/1, I called yesterday to update an appointment we have coming up. I was told still in a holding pile and should know by mid April x

That's good to know as I'm 4/1

End of next month!

I know 😩😩😩 I am praying she just said that to get rid of me and stop me calling again. End of next month would make it 21/22 weeks for me so praying she’s wrong!

Summerrabbit · 19/03/2024 12:30

Hello again 👋. 12/12 so imagining I’ll be here a while yet. Good luck all!

CornishMama2 · 19/03/2024 12:33

When they say 'its been allocated to a DM on this date (past)' , does that mean its actually with the DM, or its in a holding pile awaiting to go to a certain DM?
Its so confusing! (put this in old thread by accident earlier 🙈)

Carrotstick123 · 19/03/2024 12:34

01/12 - called this morning, I'm still in holding que. At worst I should have heard by 19th April. Hoping it happens quickly now!

No, nothing. But I didn’t ask if they could. Maybe I should have.
It’s a long time isn’t it? End of April will take me to nearly 24 weeks xx

3boysand2girls · 19/03/2024 12:42

@TiredTilly I didn't request genetic testing the consultant said that because of how severe her symptoms are he wanted to rule it out and then that would make diagnoses quicker. I would definatly be querying it.

I think when it's in a holding pile, it's literally just in a massive random pile with thousands of others, waiting to be allocated to a DM. So I do think when it's with a DM, it also means it's been dwindled down into a smaller pile that's been put on a DMs desk/computer waiting for that specific DM to look at your file as they're allocated a certain amount to work through hence why it could be with a DM for a certain amount of days/weeks. A lot of other factors come into the wait while it's with the DM as in them waiting to hear back from a schools/doctors etc some reply back to the DWP within a few days, others could take longer to reply which holds it up.
