@Sloulou20 sounds very similar to my youngest and I got HRC LRM. He has seperation anxiety and if I even move room he melts down. We have to use sand timers for every single transition so it takes alot to just to get him from say, eating to getting changed. We had plenty of evidence to back this up from school xx

Thank you! I feel for you it’s such hard work isn’t it! I’ve sent what I can, a fair bit from school and his EHCP / reports from camhs school / assessment etc but always worry it’s not enough!!!!!

I like the idea of sand timers I might have to try!!!

Does being on prescription for melatonin show as evidence for night time needs?
I read on a really old Dla forum that they won’t consider nighttime needs into account if the child/young person has melatonin? Do you think this is true or just aload of sh**e xxx

I don't think it's right, because it only helps to fall asleep

@Emma2345 i honestly thought this might be our final thread but it’s only lasted a few days so get ready to make a new thread when we get to page 39?

Me too😢!!!! I will be making a new thread soon 🤞 this will be our last one

@Margot82x my daughter is on melotonin and we got HRC. Obviously other needs also, but the melotonin doesn't actually make her sleep instantly, takes hours sometimes and sometimes doesn't work at all! So this then leads to more night time care. So I wouldn't worry if that's what Ur child is on. x

Is anyone able to explain the difference between uc carers element and carers allowance I currently work part time and have notified uc about the dla award yesterday. From what I've read so far carer allowance is deducted from uc so what is the advantage of applying for that over carer element?

Something to do with national insurance contributions?
also you can apply for both anyways, it’s not one or the other.
im planning to apply for carers allowance as it will provide official paperwork for if I ever need proof of being a carer.

Carers element does not affect ur UC you get this paid on top however Carers allowance is deducted £ for pound I would recommend claiming the carers element rather then the allowance

@Komahra Thankyou xx

Had a payment into my bank account today. It looks like DS has been awarded middle rate care which I am happy with. It’s frustrating that the won’t backdate it until September as it spent 2 weeks waiting for them to open it. Scan date was 9/11.

Margot82x · 08/03/2024 07:36

@ThatsGoingToHurt congratulations! Their mailing system is so frustrating! Xx

Sarahdestiny · 08/03/2024 09:11

Quick question
If you win a madatory reconsideration
Will dla back pay you from the day you rang for the forms at the beginning of your claim or just from the date they change there decision
Hope this makes sense lol

Hi when doing an MR or tribunal they will backdate to the start of your claim if their decision was found to be wrong and your child was actually entitled to it it will go from the day you requested your forms not the day you done your MR hope this helps x
