DLA wait times 2023 Part 10

JimnJoyce · 21/07/2023 10:43

hi thought i'd start a new thread as the last one is completely full and won't let me post.

Well I've just spoken to a very understanding man on the phone who confirmed that my daughters application is with the decision making team and I should hear within the next 3 weeks which would take us up to 16 weeks.
I told him I would like to make a formal complaint about the inordinately long wait times and he assured me he would make that known and pass it along as soon as we were off the phone.

Can anyone please make sense of this?! Is anyone really good with figures who can break this down for me?

I’ve been on hold for 1hr and 56 minutes and it has just cut off!!! That was after 48 mins at 930am this morning. Why is ringing them such an issue!

DS has had middle rate care since 2021. I sent the renewal, scan date 23rd June.

I had our normal payment of £272 on Tuesday, however £370.15 went in on Wednesday. I haven’t got a clue what this is for and of course I’ve not been able to speak to them and now they’re shut for the weekend!!

The rates are:

Care
Highest 101.75
Middle 68.10
Lowest 26.90

Mobility
Highest 71.00
Lower 26.90

Our current claim ends on 6th October, like I’ve said I sent his renewal back in June and the scan date was 23rd.

I can’t understand what the £370.15 is? Is it one of these amounts backdated to 23rd June? Or is it the last few weeks of the claim and it means it’s been refused or something. Or does it mean we now get mobility?!

No letter has arrived either!

I’m sure someone on here is intelligent enough to tell me exactly what it may be 🤣 I don’t know if it means he’s been awarded mobility and stayed on middle rate, I can’t work it out and I’m panicking incase it’s a mistake or it means it’s coming to an end! Help 🤣

Happy Friday x

RonniePickering · 15/09/2023 17:52

It looks to me like they have increased the award to HRC, the difference between MRC and HRC is £33.65.
11 weeks since scan
33.65 x 11 = £370.15

Hope it is for you 👍🏻

Oh is the extra for carers allowance?don't want to do that will be worse off he's at school 9-3 so may aswell work and I think you're limited to the hours you can work

It’s for carer’s element on UC which is different to the carer’s allowance.

CharleneD · 15/09/2023 18:45

@RonniePickering thank you so so much! No mention of mobility but I’m not going to dare ask because ds had high rate the other year and when I asked for mobility when he turned 3 they dropped me to middle rate care and didn’t give mobility 🤣 so won’t take the risk! Xx

CharleneD · 15/09/2023 18:46

@RonniePickering also can’t believe you worked it out that quickly like I haven’t been sat with a pen and paper baffled 🤣🤣

for anyone wondering, my scan date was end of June but it was a renewal so they work backwards from your end date x

CharleneD · 15/09/2023 19:12

@Jolouise1986 it’s completely seperate it’s not carers allowance it’s another amount on UC. I got it when I was on UC in 2021, it’s another element on the statement. x

CharleneD · 15/09/2023 19:29

Sorry just to add, I was still working then and it didn’t affect anything. I’ve never claimed the other carers allowances because I’m sure you can only earn something like £150 a week to be entitled. X

Jolouise1986 · 15/09/2023 20:08

Yeah why I won't claim it I earn more than that so don't see the point especially when he's at school full time,I didn't know you get extra on uc for getting dla though

RonniePickering · 15/09/2023 20:52

No problem @CharleneD 👍🏻

CharleneD · 15/09/2023 21:58

As soon as I started working full time and got a mortgage we lost our UC and it’s a shame as I was earning more with that than I do now working full time! It’s frustrating that there’s no benefit to bettering yourself!

Thanks for everyone’s help! I’m still keeping everything crossed for you all and I’ll update when I receive a letter !

Also from June - now, I’ve never received a text from DLA or a letter bar the one that said they received my pack! So if anyone’s not heard anything don’t lose hope x

Homesweethome93 · 16/09/2023 23:10

No it's for coc but I don't think it even matters...maybe just all get put on the same pile 🫨

CharleneD · 18/09/2023 11:54

Just spoke to them (1 hr 16 min hold!)

Guy who answered was absolutely lovely.

DS has been awarded HRC and LRM! Was absolutely worth the 50 pages of evidence 🤣.

nic00000 · 18/09/2023 12:53

@CharleneD is yours new claim or change of circumstances ?

CharleneD · 18/09/2023 14:10

@nic00000 renewal 😊

CharleneD · 18/09/2023 19:40

Thank you everyone!! If anyone needs any advice let me know. I’m still waiting for you all to update your news too xx

Muva306 · 18/09/2023 20:42

Finally getting around to filling in the MR. We were all wiped out with a sickness bug last week. I do feel they didn’t really pay much attention to my original application as there are points why they declined that weren’t raised on the original application

Fingers crossed for some good news for you. I never received my letter so I asked them to resend and he told me the award again. I was so confused as I thought it went up to his 16th birthday but it actually goes beyond it. They gave him just short of 5 years to 2028! He's turns 16 in 2026. The guy said it will be paid while applying for pip and appointee and then when the decision for pip is made for him regardless of outcome it will stop.

Carly19 · 20/09/2023 09:42

Hi everyone. My lo has just been awarded from 14/03/2023. Does anyone know if I will receive the disability cost of living payment(£150) and how this is paid? Good luck to everyone waiting. Mine took 21 weeks 😫 xx

StephanieCee · 20/09/2023 10:38

Hello, does anyone know what about DLA are upto with their forms? I had mine scanned the 6th June and I’m now on week 16, I’ve tried to ring but the number goes so far and then cuts me off. Has anyone got a number for them as I’ve tried multiple times to ring and the same keeps happening. Thank you x

RonniePickering · 20/09/2023 10:41

It will be the same number @StephanieCee, it took me 5 times to get through a couple of weeks ago, it cut me off 4 times after I’d been waiting 20 minutes. You just have to persist sadly, and for the best chance ring at 9am on the dot.
I think new claims are taking up to 19 weeks.

StephanieCee · 20/09/2023 10:47

@RonniePickering thank you hun, I’ll keep trying see if I can actually get threw to them, I think it’s ridiculous the wait time for it, I applied for my daughter 6 years ago, she never got it however it took about 4 weeks for the decision, now I’m trying to claim for my son who’s got autism and it’s a hell of a wait. However I’m not banking on getting it for him as I’ve seen multiple posts off other people saying they haven’t been able to get it, even with the evidence they have sent in x
