hi thought i'd start a new thread as the last one is completely full and won't let me post.

Well I've just spoken to a very understanding man on the phone who confirmed that my daughters application is with the decision making team and I should hear within the next 3 weeks which would take us up to 16 weeks.
I told him I would like to make a formal complaint about the inordinately long wait times and he assured me he would make that known and pass it along as soon as we were off the phone.

Is it an ehcp?as I'd say yes I would send it

CharleneD · 13/09/2023 20:32

@CoffeeLover90 absolutely send it as it backs up everything you’ve said about the amount of help that is needed! And shows that it’s not just at home either! Ring up for an update too xx

Not an ehcp, he has an independent care plan and if he needs more he'll go through the process for ehcp. Very good support in this though, he has 1 on 1 for the majority of the day and an intimate care plan to help him change after accidents. This is in mainstream. He loves it after one week! So pleased I seem to have made the right choice.

Jolouise1986 · 13/09/2023 20:40

Awww that's brill happy for you both I would probably inform them of it I just like to be thorough I sent my sons my support plan, ehcp and educational physiologists report off

RonniePickering · 13/09/2023 20:59

Yeah I’d definitely send it @CoffeeLover90, glad your son is enjoying his school, I know what a relief that is.

RonniePickering · 13/09/2023 20:59

Congratulations @afrikat 👍🏻

SENASD · 13/09/2023 23:00

Was told by DWP today the wait is now 19weeks.

Jolouise1986 · 14/09/2023 07:34

Great that means I've still a few weeks off yet then my scan date was 15/6.do they send it backdated from when you call for forms plus your next 4 week in advance?

candywoo · 14/09/2023 10:09

We are the 12th June. I've seen some late may's have been awarded. Hopefully not too much longer.

Im waiting for my ds's diagnosis report to be sent to me so kind of hoping it's still a couple of weeks yet. First I've said that lol

Homesweethome93 · 14/09/2023 11:46

Iv just called and iv been told 28 weeks 😩

Jolouise1986 · 14/09/2023 14:36

No way!!!!that is ridiculous 🙄

CHDmumma · 15/09/2023 07:52

No way!! How can they justify these wait times. I called on Tuesday and was told 17 weeks, I sometimes think not even the call handlers know the actual times.

Mumofgirlsxxx · 15/09/2023 08:16

Jolouise1986 · 15/09/2023 10:55

So dies it make a difference to uc if you get dla?

RonniePickering · 15/09/2023 11:15

Yes it does @Jolouise1986. If they’re getting middle or higher too it also turns your work commitments off, so you don’t have to be looking for a job.

Jolouise1986 · 15/09/2023 11:26

Ahhhh right thank you I'm self employed but on uc ,but recalculated my earnings or something and taking money off now but it will go up a bit again if he's awarded middle or high?

RonniePickering · 15/09/2023 11:33

Yes, it’s a disabled child element, so if they get low or middle it’s the extra payment of £146, high gets an extra £456.
If they receive middle or higher the parent may then be entitled to the carers element of UC which is around £180 a month.

CoffeeLover90 · 15/09/2023 11:36

@Homesweethome93 Is this for a new claim?

Jolouise1986 · 15/09/2023 15:00

Oh is the extra for carers allowance?don't want to do that will be worse off he's at school 9-3 so may aswell work and I think you're limited to the hours you can work
