DLA wait times 2023 Part 10

JimnJoyce · 21/07/2023 10:43

hi thought i'd start a new thread as the last one is completely full and won't let me post.

Well I've just spoken to a very understanding man on the phone who confirmed that my daughters application is with the decision making team and I should hear within the next 3 weeks which would take us up to 16 weeks.
I told him I would like to make a formal complaint about the inordinately long wait times and he assured me he would make that known and pass it along as soon as we were off the phone.

No you can’t send photos or videos unfortunately @Muva306 , would be so much easier if we could.

SENASD · 04/09/2023 10:30

Hi good luck to every one applying. I'm very early in the application process, I sent the forms in 3 weeks ago but I haven't heard anything at all. Can I ask when people first heard they had received the application and how they were contacted?

I tried ringing today but it just told me they were and cut off. I will try again later and Tomo. I just want to know they have received it.

TIA

CoffeeLover90 · 04/09/2023 10:44

@SENASD For me, it was almost 3 weeks before I got the letter saying they had the forms. Could be a delay with the bank Holiday and their backlog. I've found it easier to get through first thing in the morning, if you can

CHDmumma · 04/09/2023 12:17

@SENASD I received a letter about 4 weeks after I sent the forms, the day after I received the letter a text message was sent saying they were still looking at the claim.

RonniePickering · 04/09/2023 12:29

6 weeks before I heard @SENASD

CharleneD · 04/09/2023 13:36

They do seem to pick info up fairly quickly I rang on Friday about extra info I sent on the Friday before, and it was already scanned on xx

Fundeasy22 · 04/09/2023 17:29

Has anyone been waiting for universal credit to pay back pay for disabled child element? We are coming up to 4 weeks now with nothing I've contacted UC they just say no time limit, just wondering if anyone else is waiting or recently been paid back pay by UC to see how long people have waited thank you

CoffeeLover90 · 04/09/2023 17:50

I did fill in a complaints form for ex MIL, was about 2 years ago and i cannot find the bloody form.
Found complaints procedure, maybe CAB could help?
They say there's no time limit but it's just a case of taking off statements, adding the elements and that's that. Maybe it's mundane so they take their time?

Still waiting notified them on the 26th July! Only got verified Friday! So they’ve only just done the sent to dm for back payment! They have said no time frame to be given

Fundeasy22 · 05/09/2023 08:10

@Jadepac22 @CoffeeLover90
Thank you both.
It's just madness how long they take, some people seem to have it resolved in 2 weeks yet others are just left waiting weeks on end.

WorseDecision · 05/09/2023 09:46

Day 5 of being with the decision maker and still no answer. Worried they're going to decline my son. FlowersSad

candywoo · 05/09/2023 10:12

So after 2 letters and second text today still waiting. How long did people wait after the 2nd text if you received them?

Have faith, there were a few people who were accepted at the same time as he who were with DM for a while @WorseDecision did you sent enough evidence

Muva306 · 05/09/2023 11:39

@Soph194 have you had any acknowledgment of your MR?

actually is that a thing? Once you send off the MR do they write to let you know they have received it?

Yes sent in hostipal discharge of being in DKA & then diagnosed with type one diabetes & 3 constulant reports of his other condition and 4 pages of his prescriptions (he has a lot lol.)
Only thing I failed to send was his care plans for school, starting to wonder if I should of sent them now but surely it's obvious a 7 year old would need help with injections etc?

Feeling worried.

WorseDecision · 05/09/2023 13:21

Only problem I have is that diabetes isn't like autism, I have another son who has learning disabilities & autism and I have stacks of evidence for him like his echp etc.
diabetes isn't like that. There's not much of a paper trail.

Mykidsmyworld4 · 05/09/2023 17:55

Hi, just wondering when your waiting time starts is it from when you send the form back off or when they scan it? I sent mine off the 24th and they received they 25th, I know I have a very long wait ahead but didn’t know when you count the weeks from, after reading stories on Facebook about them still saying haven’t received forms even when signed for I rang to check they had it and they said no ring in a few more weeks to check it’s on system

I received a letter about 3/4 weeks after it was signed for and it said we have received your form on such and such date, I've gone by that date as the scanned date. Not everyone receives a letter though.

RonniePickering · 05/09/2023 21:10

@Mykidsmyworld4 its from the date it’s scanned. I sent mine on the 15th March and it was scanned on the 21st of March.
When I rang last week the advisor said it was counted from the 21st.

mooneigh · 06/09/2023 10:21

@WorseDecision Being a type 1 diabetic myself. If your child is struggling with there diabities and you need to adminster medication and monitor your childs food /diet etc this is all valid reasons and extra care needed that a child without diabities would not need. So I wouldn't worry and just make sure you state about the medication/injections and monitoring and diet / food intake as to make sure your child does not go into a hypo or goes hyperglacimia.

mooneigh · 06/09/2023 10:24

For those of you awarded and your scan date was before 1st April 2023. Did you automatically get the cost of living payment ? Or did you have to apply for it ?

WorseDecision · 06/09/2023 12:07

I’m trying to add my son DLA claim to my tax credits claim but they’re saying we can’t get the disability element as I don’t work?

However I get the disability element for my eldest child and I’ve not worked (can’t work as I’m a carer for my eldest child!)

Has anyone else heard of this?!

EB82 · 06/09/2023 13:44

@mooneigh I was looking at this just last night. As far as I can tell it hasn't been paid with the backdated and online it says you have to ring the department to which the benefit comes from. I'm going to wait and see if its paid before the first payment is due if not then il try calling the DLA
