DLA wait times 2023 Part 10

hi thought i'd start a new thread as the last one is completely full and won't let me post.

Well I've just spoken to a very understanding man on the phone who confirmed that my daughters application is with the decision making team and I should hear within the next 3 weeks which would take us up to 16 weeks.
I told him I would like to make a formal complaint about the inordinately long wait times and he assured me he would make that known and pass it along as soon as we were off the phone.

@Carly19, I sent my forms off on the 15th of March and his EHCP off a few days later, when I rang 2 weeks later (to ask if they’d sent me the correct forms- they hadn’t 🤦🏼‍♀️) the advisor told me the EHCP had been added to his claim on the 24th of March, so it is pretty quick they scan them in.

RonniePickering · 11/09/2023 12:52

Sorry, they scanned his forms on the 21st and his EHCP on the 24th.

I'm 15 weeks this week. Anxiety worse than ever now

Chloe1233 · 11/09/2023 16:18

Finally uc got back to me about backdateing my disabled child element they have said under special circumstances they agree to back date from the date I've told them so now hopefully don't wait long for payment

I'm 15 weeks too! Every time my phone comes up with message the anxiety goes up

I'm the same! I've just got the idea in my head that it's going to be a no.

CHDmumma · 11/09/2023 18:36

@CoffeeLover90 I'm thinking the same because of his age but his care needs are so different to others his age.

My husband has said to call but I really can't bring myself to only to be told no or x amount more weeks x

CoffeeLover90 · 11/09/2023 19:08

@CHDmumma I promised myself I will call week 18 if I hadn't heard anything.
I'm so sure I have underplayed his needs in the form, it was so difficult to only write his struggles - for time spent brushing teeth for example, I put 5 minutes. In reality could be 2, 10 minutes or not at all. I have also noticed (weirdly) his needs have decreased the last couple of weeks. A lot less meltdowns although constant reassuring, explaining, guiding is still needed, if that counts.

CHDmumma · 11/09/2023 19:19

@CoffeeLover90 I think its so hard to only write the negatives when there are so many wonderful things we could say about our children.
I too didn't write as much detail as I probably should have, my son is NG fed has been since birth due to complex health needs and I wrote what we do etc but the amount of minutes of setting up his feeds vary so much depending on aspirates etc.

I think I'll call next week if I haven't heard anything just to see.

CoffeeLover90 · 11/09/2023 20:50

@CHDmumma If you do can you add on here if the wait time increased please? I'll keep fingers crossed 🤞

@Chloe1233 how long have u waited since putting in for a backdate? And are they back dated to when u notified uc or from the start of dla claim? I’ve been waiting over 6 weeks to hear back

So I told them on the 31st July about the change then I heard back from them on the 15th August that they had sent it to a decision maker and then I waited 4 weeks for them to accept it and yes they are backdating it from the start of my dla claims all together I've waited 6 weeks

Welshmun · 12/09/2023 12:49

Hiya does any one know how long it take to receive the letter after the awards has been made. I’m on week 4 of waiting for the decision letter tried to ring to today 4 times and every time I get all the way through the options it put the phone down I worried now my letter has been lost .

CHDmumma · 12/09/2023 13:05

@CoffeeLover90 I just thought I would update you, I had to ring DWP this morning due to receiving a new piece of medical evidence about my son that we thought would help. But I thought I would check I had time to get it in. The bloke I spoke to was really lovely and said its not with the case manager just yet and it's probably not worth sending the new info in because they are getting around to our date/s. He said the latest I should hear is the 27th Sept and I should keep this new info in case I need to do an MR, as by the time they receive it/scan it in our forms should have been looked at. Hope this helps you x

CoffeeLover90 · 12/09/2023 15:58

@CHDmumma That's good news, hopefully not long then. Thank you for letting me know and best of luck

If I get a message, backpay or letter I'll let you know. Could you keep me updated your end please. Good luck 😃

CoffeeLover90 · 12/09/2023 18:29

Of course, I'll add an update on here if I hear anything or if I end up ringing. 27/09 would take you to 17 weeks. So I'll assume its still the same timescale I was given 😁

CoffeeLover90 · 12/09/2023 18:31

@CHDmumma That was for you, I don't seem to have the quote option

Jolouise1986 · 12/09/2023 18:58

CoffeeLover90 · 13/09/2023 15:48

Opinions please? Im 15 weeks today- just received updated care plan from school, he now has 1 on 1 support for the majority of the day! Great, thought I'd have to fight for that. Worth posting a copy of this or not?
