DLA wait times 2023 Part 10

1000 replies

JimnJoyce · 21/07/2023 10:43

hi thought i'd start a new thread as the last one is completely full and won't let me post.

Well I've just spoken to a very understanding man on the phone who confirmed that my daughters application is with the decision making team and I should hear within the next 3 weeks which would take us up to 16 weeks.
I told him I would like to make a formal complaint about the inordinately long wait times and he assured me he would make that known and pass it along as soon as we were off the phone.

Oh no!! Keep fighting. I’m doing a MR aswell I’m not happy with rates. They told me it a 3-4 week rate not so sure on this.
they awarded her LRC &LRM. They didn’t even read my claim. Because when I called it was ina. Que for a case manager and then when I got off the phone literally 10mins she got awarded so most deffo didn’t read the forms over 20oages extra evidence I sent. She diagnosed with ADHD and has to take medication and has no semce of danger ATALL. EHCP plan in place the lot. So going MR finger crossed they actually read it. Hopefully you get the news you want soon x

Muva306 · 31/08/2023 17:43

I’m just glad I have an answer and that feeling in limbo feeling is gone!! Plus it means this thread has to deal with me sticking around for a lot longer 😂😂 have you started your MR yet @Soph194

Soph194 · 31/08/2023 17:50

And with me to haha. Yes did it over the phone with them yesterday morning and received a text saying thanks for asking us to look agian 😂 should hear up to 4 weeks. X

Muva306 · 31/08/2023 19:32

Oh so you haven’t had to fill in the form @Soph194 winner winner

CoffeeLover90 · 31/08/2023 20:35

Sorry to hear this @Muva306 Hope you hear from MR soon

Soph194 · 31/08/2023 21:15

Samiieyy · 31/08/2023 22:35

Nowmum43 · 01/09/2023 03:44

My dd's payment has just gone through 😃😃😃😃
Not sure what she has been awarded but this means we can afford the £100 an hour therapist that helps her 🙌🏼

Muva306 · 01/09/2023 08:14

I’m up and ready prepared to come home and call and start the new form 🥊

Muva306 · 01/09/2023 08:28

Actually I don’t know if anyone can answer this question. In my original form I included that son has massive issues around food, he has horrendous bowel movements his whole life which we are unsure if due to his diet but as you can imagine him going to the toilet is a nightmare, screams for “wipe my bum” toilets being blocked because he’s put a whole roll of toilet paper down there, poo usually covering him and the bathroom, he’s taken his bottom 1/2 of clothing off and then refusing to get re-dressed. He has has massive avoidance around food, doesn’t use cutlery as the food “falls off”, will under chew and make himself choke and then makes himself sick at the dinner table, over chew 1 mouth full and say he’s done. We are due to see a dietician is nov. However Peds suggested just let him eat what he wants and have him tested for celiac as they are unsure if bowel movements are toddler diarrhoea or food intolerance. He was taken for the blood test last week, need to call ped next week for results. Is the poss food intolerance, something I should been including on the form?

CoffeeLover90 · 01/09/2023 08:59

@Muva306 I would, explains extra care needs related to that. Best of luck!

Hi everyone, I had a call from a DM last week requesting more evidence, after waiting 18 weeks already! I sent this first class signed for and it was received on Tuesday. Does anyone know how long it takes for them to scan it on please? Thanks 🙏

When I spoke to them the other day they told me they had roughly 12,000 claims unscanned at the moment. So a couple of weeks I'm guessing.

Kels2023 · 01/09/2023 10:37

For the universal credit...do I report the change and choose the change about the child or is it the option someone you are caring for? Hope this makes sense

Lovely17 · 01/09/2023 11:20

Hi everyone, I got a text the other day saying they were still looking at the dla1 claim and I’m just wondering… are these just standard texts or does this mean my claim is with a DM now? Thanks in advance x

EB82 · 01/09/2023 11:42

@Muva306 I would, my son has an issue with food will only eats certain things and has to be the correct brand or he just won't eat, he also doesn't use cutlery and has bowel issues. I put it all in. @Kels2023 you do both, change the child to receiving DLA and the caring part for your caring responsibility. Then add a note on your journal in payment option telling them what they have been awarded and the date from and that you would like both disability and carers element to be backdated. They will sort the rest but not in a hurry 😂

CoffeeLover90 · 01/09/2023 11:49

@Lovely17 It means nothing, I had one a month ago and the same the other day. Just sending them in masses, possibly to try and get people to stop calling for updates, they've sent me a letter too as well as the 2 texts. Obviously this is much easier than changing the timescale on the initial letter (sarcasm) 😂

Lovely17 · 01/09/2023 11:52

@CoffeeLover90 thanks so much for your reply.. aww this doesn’t give me much hope then! DWP are useless, no matter what benefit it’s for. Sick of waiting, I don’t think my wait is anywhere near a lot of people on here though. Well fingers crossed I hear before Xmas… then I’ll be happy haha x

RonniePickering · 01/09/2023 12:05

Just taken me 1.5 hours to get through to change my address 😐
I put a change of circumstances in on the 15th March, still got another 2-3 weeks to go 😬

Muva306 · 01/09/2023 13:03

I called and it was down to lack of evidence ( I knew I hadn’t sent enough) because he hadn’t seen SALT, had that appointment now. He was on no medication for sleep, constipation (🫠🫠 I don’t think they understood from the initial application, the ability to poo isn’t the issue) and no medication for skin picking (is that a thing) his skin picking, he’s now started to include ripping at his hair and skin in anger and no EHCP in place. The school are starting the process for EHCP when he starts back next week

mooneigh · 01/09/2023 16:51

Hi all. I was wondering if anyone can help ?

A few are mentioning about UC. Is this something you are already on OR is this something you can get if your child qualifys for DLA ?

Thanks

CoffeeLover90 · 01/09/2023 17:34

@mooneigh Me personally, I'm already on it. If you're not eligible for DLA now, it may change if child I'd awarded DLA, you get a disabled child element, it's about 180ish a month, higher for high rate care and carees element for middle and high rate care. Be best to use benefits calculator to see if you could then claim it

mooneigh · 01/09/2023 17:54

@CoffeeLover90 Ah I see, ok. Thank you so much.

Muva306 · 02/09/2023 13:06

Does anyone know if you can’t send photos to DLA? Either with original application or MR? My sons woken up today and over the past few days he’s persistently picked behind his ear(with out me noticing; he’s now found new areas to pick after I was on top of his finger, hands and face picking) I’m really disappointed in myself for not realising and I could of shown the drs yesterday because it’s like incredibly sore. The problem with his picking is, he doesn’t feel the pain. I think when you hear skin picking it can mean many things to diff people and I don’t think they understood the severity of how bad it was.
