DLA wait times 2023 Part 10

JimnJoyce · 21/07/2023 10:43

hi thought i'd start a new thread as the last one is completely full and won't let me post.

Well I've just spoken to a very understanding man on the phone who confirmed that my daughters application is with the decision making team and I should hear within the next 3 weeks which would take us up to 16 weeks.
I told him I would like to make a formal complaint about the inordinately long wait times and he assured me he would make that known and pass it along as soon as we were off the phone.

Mine got awarded from the 31march so she was lucky by 1 day I called up yesterday as they have to do it on there end

EB82 · 06/09/2023 18:42

@Soph194 did you ring the DLA?

Soph194 · 06/09/2023 19:17

Yes they did it for me over the phone 🙂

Mumofgirlsxxx · 06/09/2023 22:38

just looking for a little bit of info
I applied for dla for my daughter in march she got declined
I asked them to look again and she has recently been awarded high rate care
does anyone know how I am able to claim the £150 cost of living for disability?
also could someone please explain how it works with telling UC about my daughter being accepted for dla
I am on the sick element of UC myself due to my own illness and I’m worried this might mess my own claim up?
Thanks x

Great news, they changed the decision.
You need to ring DLA to ask for the payment.
You'll still get the sickness part of UC but you wouldn't be able to claim carers element on UC. You could claim carers allowance but it would be deducted from your UC payment.
You can still claim child disability element though 😊

@Lo89 Have you had any news on your MR yet ? I had a notification to say you mentioned me in a post but I am unable to find it.

Just wondered if you had heard anything...

The DM phoned me and had a long conversation as she needed to verify a few things. She would not accept referrals or anything I basically said unless it had all been backed up with evidence letters from doctors or physio. From the evidence letters I sent in for the MR she said she would probably award me but only the low rate (She is also waiting to see the latest physio letter, which they only got on Monday to verify what had been said). So I just need to wait for the letter to come through and see what's what. 🙏

Muva306 · 07/09/2023 09:43

Oh that is fantastic news@Mumofgirlsxxx can I ask why they originally declined? I found out my claim was declined last Thursday. Still waiting on the letter with detailed reasons.

how long have you’re been taking @Lo89 and @mooneigh

mooneigh · 07/09/2023 12:18

@Muva306 The letter states MR can take up to 11 weeks. However I was told on the phone it will be with a DM in 2 weeks. Then the 3rd week a DM phoned and wanted to verify a few things.

So it's in the process, which is good and didn't take too long thankgoodness to be looked at. Just awaiting the outcome now.

RonniePickering · 07/09/2023 14:27

Ugh change of circumstances are taking up to 29 weeks now, only another 5 to go 😑

Mumofgirlsxxx · 07/09/2023 19:36

They reasons were: my daughter wasent taken to hospital in the past 6 months!
I argued that she’s been seen by the GP numerous times
also that even tho she has a plan in place at school she didn’t have a risk assessment in place
they were wrong again because she does have one in place
since asking them to re look at the claim it took around 4/5 weeks I randomly received a phone call they were asking me lots of questions because they haven’t received the extra info I had sent in
at the end of the phone call she told me not to send in the evidence again they no longer need to see it
I had a letter about a week after and then a payment the next day

good luck everyone!! It’s hard but keep fighting you will get there in the end x

Mumofgirlsxxx · 07/09/2023 19:46

Thank you for the reply
I’m so worried that if I tell them my daughter is now on dla they will stop my sick element of UC xx

CHDmumma · 11/09/2023 10:39

Happy Monday everyone, anyone had updates? Week 15 Wednesday for my boy.

Jolouise1986 · 11/09/2023 10:41

Hey quick question what does scan date mean?does it it mean when they tell you it's being looked at?I phoned for the forms on the 24/5 and received a letter saying being looked at on 15/6 so should it be sorted soon?thanks

RonniePickering · 11/09/2023 11:02

No updates here, 25 weeks and counting 😬

@Jolouise1986 the scan date is on the letter they send when they state they received the forms. I sent mine back on the 15th of March and received a letter 6 weeks later telling me they received them on the 21st of March, that’s my scan date.

CHDmumma · 11/09/2023 11:03

@RonniePickering wow that is such a long wait! Is it a new claim for you?
I really hope you get answers soon, it's not right you've been left waiting so long 😢

RonniePickering · 11/09/2023 11:05

It’s for a change of circumstances that I put in @CHDmumma , put in in March and could take 30 weeks. His renewal is due in December, I’d honestly just have waited for that if I knew it was going to take so long.

Jolouise1986 · 11/09/2023 11:09

Oh OK so my scan date is 15/6 the 15-18 weeks they claim it takes is that from your scan date?quite a bit of evidence was sent off does that make it take longer driving me mad not knowing anything

CHDmumma · 11/09/2023 11:11

I hope you get answers sooner than the 30 week mark, and also your son gets all the help he deserves!

A friend of mine was awarded last week, her scan date was 16th June. (No special circumstances or fast tracked) There seems to be no system even though they say they do it in date order. I'm pleased her LO is getting the help they deserve.

RonniePickering · 11/09/2023 11:20

Yes counting from then @Jolouise1986, I don’t think more evidence necessarily means you wait longer.
Thank you @CHDmumma ❤️ yeah some of them seem to be done much quicker than others. Hope you hear soon.

CHDmumma · 11/09/2023 11:21

@RonniePickering thank you 😊

Jolouise1986 · 11/09/2023 11:31

Right so 13 week from my scan date so guessing got a bit to go yet great 🤨 ,it gets backdated to when you call for the firms doesn't it thanks

RonniePickering · 11/09/2023 11:37

Yes @Jolouise1986, hope you’re not waiting too long.

Jolouise1986 · 11/09/2023 11:43

Me too thank you just frustrating waiting so long I'm quite sure I will get it just not sure what rates

RonniePickering · 11/09/2023 11:49

Don’t know if you’re on Facebook or not but there’s a group on there that has loads of advice on it, good tips for if you need to do a mandatory reconsideration or appeal the DLA decision. It’s called DLA for children: Advice and support.
Members also say where they’re up to with their claim date so you can usually get a good idea where they’re up to with your own scan date.

Carly19 · 11/09/2023 12:35

Hi everyone, I had a call from a DM 3 weeks ago requesting more evidence. I sent this first class signed for and it was received on Tuesday 29th August. Does anyone know how long it takes for them to scan it on please? Scan date 25th April 😞 Thanks and good luck to everyone waiting 🙏
