Child disability element universal credit

Hi,

Does anyone know if universal credit back date the child disability element from when you first called dla for the claim form (which dla too will back date) or does uc child disability element start from the date dla make the award?

I finally got a letter today too and a date for payment! After a complaint and messaging them all week 😂 a whole 33 days that took.

@Lozca93 I only got a letter to say it will be backdated but not how much yet, they put 2 on my journal but ir was the same letter 🤣🤣 been waiting since 13/03 I put a note on my journal yesterday asking if I could have a complaint form and that it was not ky fault the DWP were taking so long 30 mins later I had a decision how funny is that ...

Can I ask if the date is close to the date you received the letter? I had my letter on Tuesday but nothing since.

Received the letter yesterday, getting money on Monday.

Ah what a coincidence 😂😂 I got the first letter then I messaged asking what about the money and then got another a couple hours later 😂

How long do.people usually wait before putting a complaint in?

Yeah I left a message the morning asking them to tell me how much and when this will be paid no messing around now 🤣🤣

I waited a month and then asked nice but stern because I was bored of waiting to be honest 🙃

I'll wait another 2 weeks before I do then!
Don't understand why it takes so long once it has all been verified 😕

Hello there ladies just a message to give a guide I first received my award letter on 6/3/2024 but my sons DLA of HC was awarded on 12/10.2023 thats when I first called
so what happened I reported change of circumstances on 6/3/2024 on my journal as a message PLEASE DON’t do that no body will get back. to you you have to go to ur universal account select add journal entry go to payments option and thats where you let them know asking for a back payment please don’t forget to include the award date I had to call UC my self wondering whats going on because they didn’t get back to me reported the change properly then on 25/3/2024 haven't heard anything since i got first letter 3 days later on my UC saying it went to DM no time scale so I added journal entry regarding payment again on 18/04/2024 and that day I had my first decision that they agree to back date under special circumstances then just yesterday I received letter telling me how much just not sure yet when I will actually receive the back pay

I was also waiting 6 years for my child's diagnosis and just a week ago I finally received my child has severe significant autism which I already knew but it can still make you emotional confirming it it Must say system can be funny you have to fight for everything literally I had to hight with SeNd team fixing his EHCP plan school for years then. i had to scare them with court because i wanted special school which i knew my child needed but now I finally have all this done on my own it is hard ladies but its all worth it So my advice is don’t give up keep fighting
sending my support to you all ladies but to single mothers as well as I know how hard it can be no matter what your dealing with

I requested backpay on Universal Credit on the 21st March. Ive messaged a few times on journal and been told its with a decision maker with no timescale.

I made a complaint yesterday has had no update at all. The new rates have been included in my most recent statement.

They should be advising how long process can take 😞

Hiya. I’ve been following this thread for a while so thought I’d give an update 😊

Our award is 28/04/2023, we got the award letter December 2023. 8 months wait! I found out about disabled element through this thread!

I made the change on the 26/03/2024 and heard nothing for 3 weeks. The disabled element got added on but no response. I made a complaint on 16/04/2024 through the link on this thread. More journal entries, nothing. So I called UC 18/04/2024, they put a journal entry in for me and I got my letter 19/04/2024 (yesterday) for approval and amount. I’m getting paid on Tuesday. 7 days from complaint, 3 messages within those 7 days and a phone call got it sorted 🙌🏻

I was really happy until I saw the amount. They’ve done it from when my UC account started in November so only 4
months. I had to move across from tax credits due to the transition. They’ve taken payments from me for money I owed due to two Tax Credits payments whilst I changed over to OC. But they won’t pay me the money I’m owed even though it was them that told me I had to covert over or my payments would be stopped. So here goes on a mandatory reconsideration! I’m also on Month 2 for DLA wait for my oldest. I’ll be glad when I can disconnect from DWP! 😩😂

hey there lovely you have to annoy them and keep asking otherwise they wont do anything and they will take time responding just keep asking them for updates etc

19th March. It was given to a DM on 21st March. I’ve added another journal entry today as it aaa approved 6 days ago and I’ve had nothing since.

I messaged them again this morning as its 3 weeks Wednesday that it went to a decision maker, asking for an update and weather the elements would be on my next statement. Still waiting for a reply 😬 did you hear back?

Messaged everyday, originally requested back pay 27/03 was sent to a decision maker 02/04, nothing since, I have made a complaint over a week ago an still nothing. What else can I do?

Still nothing. It took 4 weeks from requesting to approval (I think I this seems to be about average). I just don’t know what the hold up is with giving a date for the money to be paid.

The elements went straight onto my statement by the way. Its just the backpay that’s taking the time.

I called them and they said there’s no time frame. The money will just turn up in my bank account but they don’t know when.

That's ridiculous isn't it, they'd soon demand the payment if you owed them 🤦🏻‍♀️ I got a response today saying it will be on next month's statement but they have no update from the decision maker yet

I'm 13days in since it went to decision maker.

After calling today, I got my letter with how much they owe me. Will it be another week until I get the money 🤣
