Hi,

Does anyone know if universal credit back date the child disability element from when you first called dla for the claim form (which dla too will back date) or does uc child disability element start from the date dla make the award?

Thank you

Hi @MrsW12 … I don’t think they’ll say no to you. It’s a horrible wait. I got my letter on Friday after waiting over 3 weeks the woman said she would escalate it. I got my back payment letter today & told me what im owed. Good luck I hope you hear back soon x

Justanotherboymum89 · 15/04/2024 14:57

After 8 weeks since submitting my change to UC and filing a complaint a couple of weeks ago, today I received my second letter and an apology regarding my complaint and the amount of time it has taken. He said in the journal message he would submit payment later today and within 10 mins the money was in my account. So it’s been a total of 31 weeks on Wednesday since I applied for DLA for my son to finally get the DLA and disabled child element backpay. That’s it’s now until next September when he turns 12 and we need to do our renewal.

Thank you so much for your kind words. I have ADHD, so I don’t do well with the unknown! I’m also waiting on a primary school decision (that’s tomorrow so that’s not long ☺️) and a couple of other big things, so I’m all tense! I’m pleased you have all of yours sorted x

Oh bless you. That’s such a long wait. Did they say why it took so long? I’m glad it’s finally sorted for you though x

Woohoo happy for you! I complained again today just in my journal and a woman got back to me saying there's no timescale on these things etc and was quite rude to be fair, she then said she would escalate this & within 45mins I got a letter saying they accept special circumstances... not sure about when I'll get that but I'll message them again on Monday to ask x

Finally!!! Have you had the backpay yet? I've been MIA with the half term 🤦‍♀️. I've not heard anything about mine since I got this month's add on sent through x

Lozca93 · 16/04/2024 11:10

Hey , I have been waiting 31 days so far since I told them I get DLA for my 2nd child , today my statement was through and theyved added the child disability element for them onto it but hey still no decision for back pay. Does anyone know how long this will take? I heard back from them last year within this time for my 1st child and I had the money backdated by now. Could really do with this money. Chased them up on journal that's a joke and I've phoned them and they just say it's still with decision maker 🙃

MrsW12 · 16/04/2024 19:47

I got my confirmation letter today ☺️. Just don’t know how much and when it’ll be paid. But I’m very happy. Thank you all x

Hi,
Just wanted some advice I updated the change on universal by ringing them up .
Do I still have to leave a message on my journal for backdated child/ disabled element or will they backdate themselves and also what option do I leave the journal message ?
many thanks

Lovely17 · 17/04/2024 06:49

@Ash93 hi, I would 100% put it in your journal and make sure to say you would like to request it backdated to the date your child was awarded! And then if it’s on there it’s in black & white & the actual date you put it on xx

Lozca93 · 17/04/2024 10:14

How long has everyone waited for the back dated payment? I told them 32 days ago, I was told it was straight to decision maker. Last time I had a decision and accepted and paid by 33 days. Still absolutely nothing they just keep saying it goes in chronological order and they couldn't tell me when they would be at mine yet for the back pay. It's already been added to my statement for this month. Just frustrating as I could really be doing with the money right now 😭

I put mine in on the 21st, got the letter today for special circumstances. I just wrote on my journal every day for the last week for an update.

Not sure how long they take to sort payment though xx

Lozca93 · 17/04/2024 11:15

Ok I'll write on it again today

Hello..

On 3/04 I updated the changes and left a message requesting the disabled and carers element to be back dated as I'd been unable to inform them prior to this date due to the DLA wait times. The following day they left a message saying it had been referred to a decision maker to consider back dating. 10/04 I queried how long it would take until I would have confirmation on what the decision maker decides and the response was 'there is no set timescale, but it generally takes several weeks.' Is UC several weeks equivalent to DLA 16-20 weeks? 🤣

I informed UC on 22/02 and only got my money earlier this week so was just under 8 weeks! I ended up putting a complaint in because they weren’t giving me any level of valid communication for the length of time it took

You'll have to tell us when you get a payment. I put mine in on 27th March. X

Lozca93 · 17/04/2024 13:35

Thats shocking. I just keep getting told they won't know til I do either. It's an absolute joke.

Just keep on at them, I was messaging twice a day! You’ll never meet these people in real life so just keep being annoying & they’ll soon get back to you! Xx

Samgib90 · 17/04/2024 14:30

I received my 2nd letter on 15th with the amount the owe me! But I still not had payment I've put to messages asking when will I receive it, but no reply! I'm sick of checking my journal!

Jollyrauncher24 · 17/04/2024 14:54

I’ve had my letter from the DM and award amount letter today aswell. 21st March was when I put in the request. I just messaged every day and then said I’ve seen people who applied after me get accepted. It worked 😂

I'll try that, I put in a complaint yesterday about the amount of time this is taking. I put in my request on the 16th march!

I done mine in Feb! I've put another message now saying why have you changed me statements and not paid me yet and no one is replying to me so will see if I done her by lunch time tomorrow! I will make complaint

MrsW12 · 17/04/2024 19:20

I had mine referred to a DM on 21st March. I had my decision letter yesterday, so just shy of 4 weeks. I have no clue when I’ll get paid though. I have my monthly statement tomorrow so I wonder if it’ll be on there.

Fudgie9922 · 18/04/2024 15:49

Finally got my letter on my journal to say the DM has agreed to back pay after me leaving a very stong worded message on my journal finally its been just over a month since I informed them 🙃
