Hi,

Does anyone know if universal credit back date the child disability element from when you first called dla for the claim form (which dla too will back date) or does uc child disability element start from the date dla make the award?

Thank you

I informed uc on 9th April. Awarded from Nov 2023. Had my scottish child disability payment backdated, will I get anything on uc backdated?

Thanks.

Update from my side. Had a call yesterday asking for my son’s CDP award letters. Sent them over. Got two letters today. Money was in my account tonight. Got the money just over three weeks from first report and out a complaint in two days ago because they were messing me around. 14 months of carers element and disability high rate backdated.

Have just received a letter in my journal saying they will backdate disabled child and carers element, took 21 days from going to the decision maker, letter states how much will be paid, but doesn't state when.

hello usually within 3 working days hope that helps x

I asked about backpay on the 21st of March and my case manager put it to the decision maker on the 21st of March. I recieved the decision letter on the 19th of April and I'm still waiting almost 2 weeks later for the second letter to say how much is owed and when it will be paid, I've messaged on my journal several times with no reply at all for the past 2 weeks and I even rung up asking for help but the lady on the phone basically said she couldn't help me. Not sure what to do about this.. so frustrating!!

Finally recieved second letter today!!

Hello does anyone no if you can get a element on uc for claiming pip like u can with children’s dla u get the dla element

Relaxinghammock · 03/05/2024 10:30

@Mummyto5beautys if you mean is there an additional element when the claimant receives PIP then no there isn’t. If you mean is there an additional element when a qualifying young person on the claimant’s claim receives PIP then yes.

Hi I made the change on my uc on the 22/4 for disability for my son and the carers. I have contacted them and it’s still not verified how long does this usually take? All my case manager is saying that it’s a different team and she doesn’t know how long it will take

Mine took over 4.5 weeks to be verified and paid and that was last month.

Mine took almost 3 weeks to be verified but you can ask them to escalate it after 2 weeks I’m currently on 2 weeks of waiting for the decision maker to put the letter on my journal too

Samjjd1 · 06/05/2024 11:00

thanks I’ll ask them to escalate it but I’ve a feeling I’ll just be told to wait until they contact me. Hopefully your not eating much longer

GrandTheftWalrus · 06/05/2024 13:42

Is it two weeks from when I updated the claim or when I last saw advisor? As I updated claim on 13th April but saw him on 26th and he told me to put I'm caring for someone etc now.

Thanks.

Hello it’s 2 weeks from updating the claim that you can ask for it to be verified

Hi guys

So I put in a complaint last week, just before the BH weekend. I have had a missed call today, and then a note on my journal to say the complaints manager tried to call. They said they will escalate it for me and should hear back in due course. Does anyone know roughly how long it takes to get a decision after escalation? I put my coc in 27th March (6 weeks ago).

Thanks

Because they had to verify the change first and this took them 3 weeks to find out they a joke honest if we owed them money they would sanction us and give us extra fees on top yet they drag there feet when they owe us money xx

Oh absolutely!!!
I have just recieved my first letter, but thr letter is headed "caring responsibility" and disability element is not mentioned?? I don't know why as I changed that as well on the same day 🤦‍♀️🤣. I hope it means both of them or I'll be having a kick off about that as well 🤣 x

That’s only for the caring element and not the disability element I would write on your journal and ask your work coach to sort the backdate out as it takes them 2 minutes to do and to ask if it includes the disabled child element backdate x
