DLA Wait Times 2023 (Part 10)

Hi All,

I have been reading previous threads related to this which all seem to be full so apologies if this is wrong (Im new). Applied for DLA for my 18month old son, scan date was 11/04 and had letter saying upto 15 weeks for a decision. Question is, i received a 2nd letter from DWP asking for my sons original birth certificate to be sent in and it would be sent back immediately. Has anybody else had this?

My scan date is 20th March. I phoned them today they said I’m looking at the end of July as claims are now taking 16-18 weeks 😩 xx

I was awarded from the date they sent the form out to me. I think they say if you send it back
Before the end date on the form which is 6 weeks after the date you receive it then you get it from the date you receive the forms otherwise its the date you sent the form off (does that make sense 🤔)

My scan date was 13/3, I rang a few weeks ago told gona be middle.of June beginning of July, I'm tempted to ring again to see what's happening but I don't like to be a pest. This is a frist time claim.

Oh it's definitely worth an ask yours should be with a decision maker atleast 🤞🤞 fingers crossed its not pestering 😊 best bet is to ring 9 am so call times aren't as long 😊 good luck

Hi, has has anyone had any luck claiming for a child with allergies and asthma? My scan date is 24/03, will be 14 weeks this Friday. I sent in 129 pages of evidence which basically included her allergy testing, prescription information such as the fact that she is an epi-pen carrier but most of it consisted of 111 calls and hospital admissions which were asthma related. Even though I've sent all that in though I keep thinking that maybe I've not sent enough 🙈 I will be absolutely gutted if I've waited this long for it to just be rejected!

Hi, I’m new to this and I’m so glad I’ve come across this thread as I’ve been going out of my mind waiting and wondering. I rang for a DLA form for my son on the 8th of march, my scan date was 20th march I rang last Friday and the lady told me should be with a decision maker on week 15 which is next week. I’ve had 2 text messages whilst waiting saying they are still looking at my claim. Feeling really nervous right now. Good luck to anyone who is still waiting x

My application was accepted!!! I'm so ecstatic. It was decided on the 21st of June

I called up on the 6th and it was scanned on the 16th i called yesterday and got told they are now taking up too 16-18weeks. But by looks of it on here people are getting decisions just before the 15week mark. Fingers crossed for you, keep us updated x

I'm 15 weeks today and still no decision it's a nightmare xx

I called yesterday and it isn't with a dm yet no xx

My scan date was 9th of March

I called up Friday just gone and she said should be around week 15 xx

I rang this morning and was told it was gona be looked at on 3rd July my scan date was 13th March so hopefully I hear something next week.

Just a heads up too once you're awarded if you're on tax credits let them know straight away because they recalculate your claim and you get a little extra for the disability element amd it also gets backdated 😊 good luck all 🤞

Can I ask how you find out you’re awarded? Do you just have to call up? As I know letters are always delayed and also how soon do you receive your first payment? Congratulations 🎉

They sometimes text but not all of the decision makers or case managers have access to that so I just rang them on Monday morning just to find out progress (I spoke to them Thursday too and was told it was with the case manager) and i was told that I was actually awarded on Thursday. 22nd June and all the back pay went in today 😊

ooohhh good luck 🤞🤞 leave it until Tuesday 🙂 and ring there's more of a chance of a decision then 🙂 my 15 week mark was Friday and our decision was made on the Thursday so hopefully yours will be done early too 😀 🙂 .
Payment takes 3-5 days so you may get the money in your account by next Friday 🙂🙂
