DLA Wait Times 2023 (Part 10)

Pb12three · 22/05/2023 18:17

Hi All,

I have been reading previous threads related to this which all seem to be full so apologies if this is wrong (Im new). Applied for DLA for my 18month old son, scan date was 11/04 and had letter saying upto 15 weeks for a decision. Question is, i received a 2nd letter from DWP asking for my sons original birth certificate to be sent in and it would be sent back immediately. Has anybody else had this?

Thanks

Iv had no call either after complaining this morning feel if i ring now ill be on hold until they close and get cut off 😩🙄

well apparently I’ve got to wait for a call Monday😬that’s if they actually call me! Tbf I’ve told that much I don’t have any faith any more. I did ask if they make a decision over weekend will I get a text, she said probably not! Monday can’t come quick enough so I can find out one way or another 🙏and this is my first claim.

Jt1985 · 20/07/2023 17:27

I said the same! People being awarded in April and I’m march and they said they may have exceptions. I told her no I know some one who has been awarded and doesn’t! She then started apologising and did get me a call back!

AllGoodThingsWillCome · 20/07/2023 17:27

Hi @Ch91 congratulations to you and your daughter first of all 🥳 please can I ask what sort of evidence you provided just so I have a rough idea. Thank you x

Hollie120490 · 20/07/2023 17:31

@Jt1985 its ridiculous they are making out everyone is having to wait these times when that actually isnt the case when april claims are being dealt with when they havnt even finished march! Wouldnt mind as much if it was actually in date order but its clearly not. Then if it gets rejected we have to go through the MR process. Honestly its terrible

MammaLBlue · 20/07/2023 17:35

58 minutes on hold to get a voice note saying sorry we can not take your call right now! Can not believe it 😳

Jt1985 · 20/07/2023 17:36

It is😫😫😫I didn’t even think about it for the first 12 weeks and then I get fobbed off the phone, now I feel like going mad! Its obviously who gets yours as some are way quicker and are probably on there April pile! But mine still with the feb pile probably😬as I was told the other day they still working through February! I really hope I don’t have to do a MR 🙏🙏🙏

Hollie120490 · 20/07/2023 17:47

Yeah feel like our claims are just being used as bookmarks or coasters or somthing 🤣 i have a friend who sent her claim half way through feb she was awarded about 6 weeks ago now

GG89 · 20/07/2023 17:55

Evening all.
finally after a long 17 weeks, i found out today my sons claim was declined.

  1. because he has no echp in place, however does have a IEP.
and a few other reasons over the phone was read out which were appalling like “he has a small group of friends” “his in a mainstream school” therefore the dm believes his needs are no different to any other child of his age (7).
Jt1985 · 20/07/2023 17:55

🤣🤣🤣🤣probably!

Jt1985 · 20/07/2023 18:01

Honestly that’s rubbish! I applied for my son when he was 7 he had no EHCP at the time and went to mainstream and he was awarded! I would defo do a MR.

MammaLBlue · 20/07/2023 18:04

@GG89 so sorry to hear that after you waited so long! Deffo MR and pray you get what your son deserves

3mummy3 · 20/07/2023 18:06

I hope all of march get your decisions by next weekend. fingers crossed what you hope for. It is crazy how they can't make a decision for weeks but as soon as a complaint is made they can do it within hours, I think they have been like this since last summer as last year as i saw somewhere on a different thread from around october people that had applied in july/August 22.. when I applied march last year took 9 weeks and declined but I didn't MR.
So,braved it new claim again (may) Today, I had to make changes today he reckons will get a decision before September I'm gonna guess literally end of August.

Weenie1993 · 20/07/2023 18:19

I'm 13+2 today scan date 18/2
I really do hope for the best for you all waiting the system is broken for our kiddies 😥
I rang last week and was told I would get a desicion by the 8/8 but time just isn't moving whatsoever and watching people wait 17 18 19 weeks really isn't giving me any hope whatsoever. Any April scan dates awarded yet ?

Muva306 · 20/07/2023 18:22

Oh wicked news @Ch91 over the moon for you!! It’s crazy to think of you weren’t calling up, how long might it actually take for your application to be looked at

Ch91 · 20/07/2023 18:26

@AllGoodThingsWillCome thank you! I sent the child psychologist report off with my claim form and on Monday I sent off her neurodevelopment referral. I'm not sure if that would have been seen though with it only being 3 days ago x

Probably the worst reasoning ive heard. My friends daughter gets it without no echp, and minimum help within school settings.
My son has an iep in place which gets reviewed every 3 months, and is under the mental health team within the school x

Ch91 · 20/07/2023 18:55

@Muva306 thank you! I can't express the relief, the wait is a nightmare it's the not knowing. Wishing everyone on this thread the best of luck x

Ch91 · 20/07/2023 18:57

Does anybody know how I go about getting the disability element on UC? X

AllGoodThingsWillCome · 20/07/2023 19:12

@Ch91 Thank you for that info, I believe you just need to write in your journal that your child has now been awarded and from what dates- correct me if I’m wrong anyone lol x

Lo89 · 20/07/2023 20:19

@GG89 I was declined too one of the reasons was mainstream school and not dissimilar to a child of the same age so stupid

Defo MR I am!

They need a day in our lives that's what they need 🤣

Hi. I've been following for a while. I was also declined last week after waiting 17.5 weeks!! How are you going to MR? Call them or write to them? I'm not sure if I can be bothered after the stress of waiting so long

Hollie120490 · 20/07/2023 20:44

Omg how dare they say because ur childs in mainstream and no ehcp in place means they dont qualify! My son has autism and had no ehcp in primary school and was in mainstream and was awarded a few years ago! Thats so wrong it is not criteria that these are in place to qualify! My son has left his secondary mainstream school now he only lasted half the year so needs to attend a school specialising in autism now and weve applied for ehcp aswel but he didnt have any of that when we applied last time thats disgraceful they have given that as a reason!

Lo89 · 20/07/2023 20:49

@Zeela they're awful aren't they. I actually have no idea how to MR. I'm guessing I wait for the letter with the reasonings on it to then dispute them

Lo89 · 20/07/2023 20:50

I know I felt so deflated after this long wait but at the same time I saw online 50-70% of claims are awarded after an MR so it's boosted me to try 😂
