Pb12three · 22/05/2023 18:17

Hi All,

I have been reading previous threads related to this which all seem to be full so apologies if this is wrong (Im new). Applied for DLA for my 18month old son, scan date was 11/04 and had letter saying upto 15 weeks for a decision. Question is, i received a 2nd letter from DWP asking for my sons original birth certificate to be sent in and it would be sent back immediately. Has anybody else had this?

Thanks

I'm 5th April. I'm going to give it until the 16th week and see if what I was told is true should off heard before then was told. It will be week 16 next weds so until then I'm holding back from complaining. Good luck all waiting and putting complaints it shouldn't have to come to that but they time frames are exhausting so I get where everyone is coming from.

I said exactly the same thing. As soon I hit that 16 week mark I'll be on the phone pushing it forward.

I believe we were both told on the same day this week it was 15.5 weeks and we have the same scan date so definitely keep me updated!

Lianney84 · 19/07/2023 23:44

@Lolli0511 I will let you know off any updates.

Yes we were told the same thing .
fingers crossed we don't have much longer to wait.

Barefootandwindswept · 20/07/2023 07:59

Just wanted to point out that it really wasn’t my intention to ‘skip the queue’ so to speak, i was just on an emotional rant. However, it goes to show that when given a kick, they do speed things along.
As a nation as a whole, we are so placid and apologetic, but the time frame given was 12 weeks so therefore anyone has a right to a moan who is over that time in my opinion. It seems a common theme on this thread that when nudged, they can make decisions faster.

Good luck to all!

My scan date was 30th March, called for forms on 9th March. I'm one of those who complained today and got a decision a couple of hours later. I would say if you are waiting more than 15 weeks then absolutely complain as this means they have gone over their own timescales. If less than 15 weeks then wait until the 15 weeks to complain as otherwise you are potentially pushing those who have waited longer than you further back in the queue which I don't feel is fair. We all want the same thing after all. I just said to the lady that I spoke to that I'd like to raise a complaint and for it to be escalated to a senior manager as I've now waited longer than 15 weeks and the manager called me back less than an hour later and I had a text with the decision within an hour. Good luck to everybody waiting, I hope you get the decision your child deserves xx

@Hayles8 Firstly congratulations. I am going to complain as my scan date was 29/3.
Can I just ask, when the manager called, what did you say.... how did you address the complaint to the manager?

Sorry I am rubbish on the phone and not sure what to say.

Thanks

@mooneigh the manager who called already knew why I was complaining, she was really lovely. I just said in my initial call please can I raise a complaint and can you escalate to a senior manager please.

When she called she apologised that I had been waiting so long and said she has personally passed my claim to the case manager and I would have a decision within 48hrs.. I had the decision in less than an hour.

Good luck, will keep fingers crossed for you xx

mooneigh · 20/07/2023 08:38

@Hayles8 Ah ok, Thank you xx

Muva306 · 20/07/2023 08:49

@Barefootandwindswept was in only 12 weeks you were originally told? In that case the
time scales were pushed back by 3 weeks in 8 days. I was told 15 weeks for scan date on 28th. It must of been all the bank holidays they had in April/coming in May that made the timing even longer. Hoping you get an answer today 🤞 keep us updated ☺️

MammaLBlue · 20/07/2023 09:12

Hi everyone just an update I rang up this morning got a really lovely man on the phone. Told him I’ve been told different dates 3 times my scan date is 3rd April and they have added an extra 2 weeks on. He said they do tell everyone it will go to DM after 15 and a half weeks then are giving a 2 week time scale incase they need to ring around schools/doctors ect. I said understandable but people way ahead of me have been accepted so it’s not making sense? He did say he will take it to the team leader and let them know and get someone to call me back. I hope they do or else I will be waiting 17 weeks!

Jt1985 · 20/07/2023 09:13

I’ve just rang as I’m 16 weeks today, and still not with a case manager. I asked to make a complaint and the women tried to tell me I had to do it in writing 😬I told her no I want a call back with the case manger as I’m sick of being fobbed off! She then told me I have been waiting a very long time and she will request a call back but can’t guarantee! I also told her if they need to speak with the school, they are breaking up tomorrow so won’t be able to speak with them for 6 weeks! She then apologised again. So im hoping I get a call back today, if I don’t by 3 I will be calling again! I also said all telephone calls are recorded, so you can see the different time scales I’ve been told, im not holding my breath for a call back! It’s so frustrating not even with a case manager at 16 weeks! Wtf!

Barefootandwindswept · 20/07/2023 09:53

Yep we were told 12 weeks and had actually been relying on it for her private occupational sessions to start 🙈 Just had a text message to say she qualifies so just hoping i don’t have to appeal the rates now 🙈🤣 Filling the forms out are so hard, writing perceived ‘negatives’ about your child is a horrific way of applying.

MammaLBlue · 20/07/2023 09:55

@Barefootandwindswept congratulations 🥳! I’m hoping your words of advice work out in my favour today when they said I will get a phone call after complaining 😂

Beccibooxx · 20/07/2023 10:09

My scan date is also 3rd April I’ve been told 3 different things already this week! Let me know how you get on with your complaint because I’m gonna complain too if you get any joy 😂🤣

MammaLBlue · 20/07/2023 10:10

@Beccibooxx im waiting on a phone call so will keep you updated…. That’s if they even ring me 🙄😂

Muva306 · 20/07/2023 10:12

Awwwww congratulations @Barefootandwindswept fantastic news that’s you’ve had a response!! Are you able to call regarding the rates?

Good luck! Our phone call last night wasn’t until nearly 6pm so don’t lose hope as the day goes on! ❤️

MammaLBlue · 20/07/2023 10:15

I’m glad you said that 🤭 thank you lovely

Jadepac22 · 20/07/2023 10:16

Scan date 3rd April, called this morning to make a complaint. Had someone call me back and there are going to have my claim looked at before Monday as Monday is 16 weeks. She said will most likely be looked at over the weekend fingers crossed x

Hollie120490 · 20/07/2023 10:25

Currently in the que waiting to speak to sombody, im 16 weeks waiting today so im going to ask to complain if there id no progress since i called last week, will keep you all updated

Everlong1234 · 20/07/2023 10:26

Hi, I've been following this thread for a while. Our scan date is 5th April, I have held off calling until today. I spoke to someone who was quite rude to be honest, they said I haven't hit 15 and a half weeks yet and that's the earliest it gets passed to a case manager and thats just to be put in a queue to be allocated to a DM. I said I'm quite anxious because my child's school breaks up tomorrow and she's in Y6 so will leaving, she said we know the schools break up so we'll seek evidence in other ways! But all my daughter's referrals & support came from school, we haven't gone through the GP. So now I feel more anxious!

Awwwww congratulations @Barefootandwindswept fantastic news that’s you’ve had a response!! Are you able to call regarding the rates?

Curiosity got me and i did call. We were awarded High rate Care and no mobility, which was expected as she is only 3 and no way needs high rate mobility. Really relieved! We thought we would maybe get middle rate so high rate is just so much help :)

Jt1985 · 20/07/2023 10:52

Well I had a call back from a manager within 20 mins and explained my concerns about the school closing etc as I’m 16 weeks today, she stated that mine should be in the over time pile over the weekend and she personally will keep an eye on it and call me back Monday with an update! So we will see. 🙏🙏🙏🙏

Jellyfish00 · 20/07/2023 11:03

Finally been awarded 😁

Scan date was 30/3. Rang up yesterday and they tried to fob me off saying he might be picked up at the weekend. I said that’s not good enough I want to complain. Man I spoke to said a manager would call me back. Nobody did so I went to bed raging.

This morning just after 9am a manager rang me, very apologetic and said she could see from her email I was promised a call back yesterday, but she’s not sure why he said that as she was on leave yesterday. Anyway she tried to fob me off again, I said no that’s not really good enough I’m already at 16 weeks I don’t see why I should wait until the weekend. She said she would get somebody to look at it today and an hour later it’s been awarded!

I made it clear I am not complaining about the staff and I can’t imagine how difficult and stressful their jobs are. I said our children are being let down though and we need change. She fully agreed and urged me to email my MP about what impact these waiting times are having on our children as they need to know. So that’s what I will be doing.

Muva306 · 20/07/2023 11:10

@Barefootandwindswept that is fantastic!! Thrilled for you and little one, the wait is over and you’ve got what you deserve 💗💗💗

Lo89 · 20/07/2023 11:11

@Jellyfish00 congratulations 🥳 it's worth complaining then. That's it I'm back on the phone still waiting on 29/03 scan date. Schools close tomorrow

Muva306 · 20/07/2023 11:13

It’s crazy they even admit to having an “over time” pile!! If they are state wait times in the initial correspondence, they should stick to those.
