Pb12three · 22/05/2023 18:17

Hi All,

I have been reading previous threads related to this which all seem to be full so apologies if this is wrong (Im new). Applied for DLA for my 18month old son, scan date was 11/04 and had letter saying upto 15 weeks for a decision. Question is, i received a 2nd letter from DWP asking for my sons original birth certificate to be sent in and it would be sent back immediately. Has anybody else had this?

Thanks

Finally been awarded 😁

Scan date was 30/3. Rang up yesterday and they tried to fob me off saying he might be picked up at the weekend. I said that’s not good enough I want to complain. Man I spoke to said a manager would call me back. Nobody did so I went to bed raging.

This morning just after 9am a manager rang me, very apologetic and said she could see from her email I was promised a call back yesterday, but she’s not sure why he said that as she was on leave yesterday. Anyway she tried to fob me off again, I said no that’s not really good enough I’m already at 16 weeks I don’t see why I should wait until the weekend. She said she would get somebody to look at it today and an hour later it’s been awarded!

I made it clear I am not complaining about the staff and I can’t imagine how difficult and stressful their jobs are. I said our children are being let down though and we need change. She fully agreed and urged me to email my MP about what impact these waiting times are having on our children as they need to know. So that’s what I will be doing.

@Jellyfish00 so so pleased for you!

It's appalling that we have to complain in order to get our children what they are entitled to.

Fully agree regarding the staff, it's absolutely not their fault, the workload must be horrendous and I genuinely feel for them.

I'm also going to send an email to my MP, as clearly more staff are needed for the volume of applications that are coming in..

My son is 15, and turns 16 in February so I'm already bracing myself for the transfer over to PIP next year when we are sent the forms 😅😂

So got through and the lady was nice but also did try and fob me off so had to ask to complain my scan date was 30/03 so 16 weeks iv been waiting now. Eventually she said sombody will call me back within the next 48 hours 😑. She said they only escalate for people waiting over the 15 and a half weeks. But clearly thats not true as people under that have been able to escalate it. Fingers crossed mine is sorted before weekend but didnt seem promising though but really had to push to get a call back.

Ch91 · 20/07/2023 12:04

Does anyone know if they work Saturday and Sunday?

Muva306 · 20/07/2023 12:18

@ch91 I’m sure I’ve seen someone a few pages back, that they have been told by a call handler that they are working Saturdays

Ch91 · 20/07/2023 12:04

Does anyone know if they work Saturday and Sunday?

DMs are working overtime at the weekends but call handlers aren't. I don't know if they actually send out messages pm the weekend but I know a few people have been called by DMs at weekends x

Lo89 · 20/07/2023 13:03

Gutted been rejected- apparently her behaviour is that of someone her age even though her rages etc are linked to tourettes syndrome.
She's also very disinhibted which means she can act out in dangerous ways caused by her tourettes not like other children
Said she doesn't have an education plan at school either- and additional support she is getting isn't enough

So annoyed

Ch91 · 20/07/2023 13:10

@lo89 I'm so gutted for you! Appeal it. What evidence did you send In? X

Lo89 · 20/07/2023 13:15

I'm going to appeal it at the time I only had initial letter from paediatrician but now have school reports detailing more her behaviour and support he has at school which I didn't have the first time.

She is still under the paediatrician aswell for her tourettes we've since had an appointment another appointment in this waiting time and future ones booked to monitor her tics etc

Ch91 · 20/07/2023 13:26

@lo89 I'm genuinely gutted for you. Its a very long time to wait to be declined. I hope you fight it and recieve an award x

Muva306 · 20/07/2023 13:28

Gutted for you @Lo89 was yours one of the ones who was sat with a DM for a while and you’ve had to chase? Is the MR process long

Lo89 · 20/07/2023 13:38

Thanks guys @Muva306 once mine went to DM they said decision was made within 24 hours.

Once I get the letter I'll do an MR I think on another thread I saw a lady say it only took around 3 weeks her MR but she was awarded so worth a shot

Ch91 · 20/07/2023 13:41

@lo89 good luck, keep us posted to let us know how you get on

Kiki2023 · 20/07/2023 14:09

Has anybody been awarded from April at all

Jadepac22 · 20/07/2023 14:10

Made a complaint this morning, just had another call to say that they are looking at my claim now but need extra info. She said they usually go to school but they no there not going to get a reply from them so are going to talk to our paediatrician. This is all done by post and they expect to know a decision in 4 weeks. That would then take me up to 20 weeks wait, x

Muva306 · 20/07/2023 14:21

@Lo89 yes deffs do the MR. sometimes I think if they lived with our children and did the level of additional care we all do for them daily, they might think twice about the lengthy process.

Ch91 · 20/07/2023 14:25

@Jadepac22 that's ridiculous

candywoo · 20/07/2023 14:42

@Jadepac22 how annoying is that! 20 weeks is a joke!

Did you put evidence in?

Everlong1234 · 20/07/2023 14:57

Not yet, we are 05/04 scan date. Very anxious that DLA aren't going to be able to access additional info from school if required.
I applied for my son last year, the wait was 12 weeks and it was nowhere near as awful as this.

Jadepac22 · 20/07/2023 15:08

@candywoo yes did send evidence, 8 years worth. My daughter has septo optic dysplasia recently been referred for cahms? So I called dla to says she’s been referred a few weeks ago they said they didn’t need the referral letter.. but that’s what they want evidence for to say that the hospital has done the referral

Ch91 · 20/07/2023 17:07

A quick update for you all. Scan date 05.04 I rang today to ask to file a complaint, the lady I spoke to said the wait is between 15 and a half to 16 weeks but she would get someone to call me back today. She called me around 30 minutes ago and asked if anyone had been in touch, I said no then she told me my daughter had been awarded HRC and LRM. Can't believe it! What a relief that the wait is over. Good luck everyone x

MammaLBlue · 20/07/2023 17:11

I rang and complained this morning! Waited all day for a phone call and nothing! Currently on hold to see what is going on 😵‍💫

Missycoco1 · 20/07/2023 17:21

I rung this afternoon finally got through at 4.55pm after an hour and a half on hold. This is my daughters 1st claim. Scan date 29th March, I've been told mine is with a DM and I should have a decision made today or tomorrow. They told me some DMs work in the evenings to get through the back log.

Jt1985 · 20/07/2023 17:21

Honestly it’s a joke!! I called this morning they said I couldn’t complain on the phone I had to write a letter! I said no way I want a manager to call me back, they did call back after 20 mins but reassured me she will personally keep an eye on it and ring me back Monday! I don’t know how they are sorting these defo not in date order as I’m the 30/3 and still not with a dm!! I’m ringing again tomorrow, I just want to know either way! I’ve never had stress like this before.

Hollie120490 · 20/07/2023 17:22

Iv had no call either after complaining this morning feel if i ring now ill be on hold until they close and get cut off 😩🙄

MammaLBlue · 20/07/2023 17:24

This will be the 2nd complaint of the day from me, saying I shouldn’t of had to be waiting all day for a no show phone call, hopefully this sorts it out
