DLA Wait Times 2023 (Part 10)

Hi All,

I have been reading previous threads related to this which all seem to be full so apologies if this is wrong (Im new). Applied for DLA for my 18month old son, scan date was 11/04 and had letter saying upto 15 weeks for a decision. Question is, i received a 2nd letter from DWP asking for my sons original birth certificate to be sent in and it would be sent back immediately. Has anybody else had this?

I spoke with a man who works for HMRC. The same rules apply with DLA that if you're not happy with the service for whatever reason. Put a complaint in, that way you'll be seen faster. Worth a try!

Hi all, I am not sure if this is the right thread.... as this is about wait times. So apologies. I am waiting 16 weeks this week!

Looking back over my forms I sent in, I have realised I made a mistake and on 2 of the questions I put no and it should have been a yes and also ticked an extra box.

I phoned to say my child now has a diagnoses and also sent a letter (which they have scanned in with my claim) saying a few things including my childs extra care needs and confirming she does have issues in regards to the 2 questions I wrongfully answered.

However do they take into account the extra letters sent in or just run off the answers in the claim pack.... I am worried this will mess up my chances .....

Has anyone else done this and had a good outcome....

Not long got off the phone. 20th April Scanned and been told i should hear back second week of August. However, reading how delayed they still are, i won’t be holding my breath!

@nic00000 well I mean that's some progress at least. So does it go to a case manager before a DM ? It's so confusing lol. I guess they're telling people 2 weeks max once it's assigned which is still depressing

I'm also 29th March, so 16 weeks on Wednesday.

@mooneigh Thankyou,, your welcome and u wasn’t the only one I was the same nearly cried but was shocked to get a message a couple of days later I hope it’s not much longer now for you and fingers crossed it’s the decision you want,,, you can request them to give you a response by text and let you no when they’ve made a decision it saves you ringing all the time I was every other day then every week aha but was so happy to see the text on my phone because it tells you weather they’ve qualified or not this is the one I got then I rang them to find out rates and back pay excetra hope this helps

I’m the 30/3 rang earlier spoke with a rude women, told me mine was in the pile waiting for decision maker expect to hear end of month beginning of august. She said I was advised the time limit on Thursday when I called😬even though a man told me It goes to a decision maker 15 and half weeks and if I haven’t heard anything from them by next Friday call back! I told her this and she said oh Well time scales are changing. They literally change the date every time I call!! Absolute joke!

Sorry. I meant the missing cost of living £150 DLA payment you can report it missing. I reported mine missing on the 5th July still haven’t heard anything so wasn’t sure xx

Oh I see. So despite waiting all these weeks (as long as you get DLA) if it was scanned in before the cost of living payment was due... you can claim it ?

I rang up again last Friday morning and the man said to me that my claim is with a case manager and that I’d probably get a decision over the weekend. He said that during the summer months a lot of people are off. He said they lose about 1/3 of their staff as they work term time only.
anyway I called them first thing this morning and a decision has still not been made. She told me to try again towards the end of the week. I’m 16 weeks tomorrow. Ugh
may try and call them tomorrow afternoon to see. Can’t ring first thing. So annoying. I hope us march lot all get awarded by the end of the week. It’s draining

I’ve been wondering this too. Seems unfair that so many of us missed out on it because the DWP are taking far too long to process applications.

If I'm correct you have to of been in receipt of DLA on April 1st as I think that's when the assessment period ends. So anyone with a scan date of 31st March of before should be entitled to it and it is just a case of reporting it not paid. My scan date is April 5th 😩

I believe so. I questioned this when i spoke to an advisor and she said yes as your claim if awarded would start from before 1st april i think was the cut off x

Horrific wait times isnt it. Whats your scan date hun?
im 24th and on 16+3. Also called friday and was told should be either today meaning friday, monday or tuesday latest. Called again this morning still no decision x

My scan date was 29th March so 16 weeks Wednesday. It is horrific.

My scan date is the 20th march apparently the claim went to the decision maker on the 5th July I rang this morning and still no decision I give up 😩
