DLA Wait Times 2023 (Part 10)

Hi All,

I have been reading previous threads related to this which all seem to be full so apologies if this is wrong (Im new). Applied for DLA for my 18month old son, scan date was 11/04 and had letter saying upto 15 weeks for a decision. Question is, i received a 2nd letter from DWP asking for my sons original birth certificate to be sent in and it would be sent back immediately. Has anybody else had this?

Definitely adding more time as they go along.
Im 16 weeks tomorrow, been with a Dm since tuesday and still no decision.
One person you speak to says 1-2 days with a dm, yet the one i spoke to today is saying we cant give you any time frame because although we can see who its assigned to, we dont know there work load, working hours etc.

Everytime i call i get a different answer in regards to how long they expect it to be when i called the other day its still not even with a DM my scan date was 30/03. I was told weeks ago decisions are being made around 15 weeks and thats defo not the case!

Honestly best thing you could do is forget about the whole process and just be surprised when they call/text/ect they take the piss and add time on and stuff, every person you speaks to tells you something different. So if you don't cope well with stress I'd just find a way to distract yourself because this process could send a sane person crazy

Hi guys i received this today. Does this mean everything is now done and sorted on uc.

And then i got that so does that mean ill get 2 different payments

Mentalhealthmummy it looks like the career element of uc been paid separately which is £185.86 a month but don't forget February and March will be lower as the 10.1% increase only taken into effect from April not sure what the rate was then hope this helps .

@MENTALHEALTHMUMMY did you notify them when your award was successful? Mines not through yet but I'm wondering if it all just happens automatically or do you need too put a note on your journal/ring them ?

I have just woken up too 3 payments. Child element backpay, disabled child backpay and the £150 COL payment. And last week i received dla backpay. So yes everything is now sorted and I've updated all changes. Good luck to everyone still waiting.

P.s i wrote in my journal I'd like to request my backpay and why it took so long too notify them and then followed the steps from a previous post to report changes and how I've started caring for someone.

Yay so happy for you, I had my Dla backpay last week my disability child element and carers element yesterday and the one off payment of £150 today.

so glad it’s all sorted for us now , but feel so so sorry for all the ones who arnt gettin the support they need . Xx

Got awarded today finally...when it goes in Tuesday if anybody is genuinely struggling to feed there kids ect send me a pm and I'll see if I can help...glad this process is over now

No I just rang them, got through in 25 mins and told they made the decision yesterday scan date was 22nd March x

Thank you everyone, my scan date was 22nd March no text or call was told on the phone today the decision was made yesterday and payment was sent.. honestly tho inbox me Monday if your struggling but I'll be expecting it back..I've struggled for past 4 years with no support it's been tough so glad my son can get the care he needs..genuinely hoping everyone gets what they deserve. Patience is a virtue.

I got my back pay from carers yesterday too but not the COL £150 did you get a letter or a text or just a payment x

I got my COL payment this morning. No letter text ect just paid straight into bank x

Did you have to request for this x

Yes you have to go on the gov website and report it as a missing payment will take about a week after to receive x

Hey, I'm the same scan date 30/03, I have given up ringing to be wasting over an hour of my time on hold to be then cut off a million times, anxiety through the roof...they told me 15weeks.. yet still no decision and still not even with a Dm.. apparently it's in Overtime, absolute joke, told me if I've heard nothing by end of July to ring them back haha.. some advisors been really helpful and some others make you feel like Š+++ and a Nuisance just for ringing for a claim status. I think well maybe if we had regular updates from you we wouldn't be ringing every week or nearly every few days. This system is messed up and from what I have been told some of these Dm's work from home too, I'll bet they're just sat there with sofa snacks and Netflix all the time we're here worrying at home and thinking after all this wait it's just gonna be a no!! just want an answer uhhh... :)
