DLA Wait Times 2023 (Part 10)

Pb12three · 22/05/2023 18:17

Hi All,

I have been reading previous threads related to this which all seem to be full so apologies if this is wrong (Im new). Applied for DLA for my 18month old son, scan date was 11/04 and had letter saying upto 15 weeks for a decision. Question is, i received a 2nd letter from DWP asking for my sons original birth certificate to be sent in and it would be sent back immediately. Has anybody else had this?

Thanks

Starting to think I’ve probably been declined and will have to go through it all again. Scan date was 14/3 and so many from over a week later have heard

Laneypie · 11/07/2023 23:05

@CherryKolaKubes have you called them? That's such a long wait

SARAHJ19830 · 12/07/2023 05:55

Woke up to a nice amount in the bank. Scan date 23rd March. Hopefully a few more get some good news too.

Catsandcupcakes · 12/07/2023 08:44

@LannieO I've seen lots of people not get texts and the money just appears. Give them another ring hun.

Ring them hun. There seems to be no consistency with the order they are getting awarded.

Gone back up to 16 weeks I’ve just phoned week 13 I’m on good luck everyone ❤️

LannieO · 12/07/2023 09:10

nic00000 · 12/07/2023 09:12

i’ve just got straight through for 29/03 not with dm and she said it won’t be untill earliest next wednesday at 16w so should hear by end of month she said

LannieO · 12/07/2023 09:26

I'm on hold now, they've ready hung up once..I have missed calls off private number yesterday so wondering if it was them as anybody else would leave a voicemail

Pippisqueak · 12/07/2023 09:27

Just phoned DLA - finally we have been awarded middle rate care, which is what I was hoping for. Scan date was 21/03. Back pay just over £1,000. What a relief 😅. For info, it took around 24 hours from it going to the DM to make a decision. I’ve had no text to confirm this. Good luck everyone

LannieO · 12/07/2023 09:28

Ideally need to know either way before half term...my sons school can't afford the one on one he needs without the extra funding they would get if he is entitled and there not managing with him as it is..so unless I get this he won't go full time next term

Aww amazing, buzzing for you hun you've been waiting the longest time aswell..woohoo 💃

GG89 · 12/07/2023 10:21

Also on hold… 50mins so far.
scan date 24th, was with a Dm so hoping for a update in decision when i get through. Will keep posted.

GG89 · 12/07/2023 10:29

Still with an assigned Dm since monday. Still no decision.
i cant make out how some Dm make the decision in the same day they receive, yet we are day 3 with a Dm.

Gerrataere · 12/07/2023 10:39

Is anyone actually getting through then? I haven’t heard a jot to say they’ve received my mandatory reconsideration (I know RM delivered it but I also know how things go missing after that). Every time I ring, I go through all the tedious messages, right after the stop the line cuts out 😡

Believe me it may well be better for you in the long run. I sent a CoC in December. Rang on the morning 14th of June and it was still in the holding pile for the DM. By the end of the day it had been moved to the DM who instantly denied HRC. Considering the amount of evidence sent (including a full EHCP), it’s quite obvious they had skimmed through it and passed it over. I’d have rather they took a week with a decision than waste a 6 month wait.

LannieO · 12/07/2023 10:43

Mine has been with a decision maker since last Wednesday I'm currently on week 17...I officially give up whatever will be will be...anyway here's to hoping everyone gets what there babies need all the best x

I think we must be on the same pile lol. Mine is exactly same

PaperDreamsHoney · 12/07/2023 11:05

I made claims for both my DCs at the same time. DD was awarded last week and the letter came yesterday - scan date 20th March. Just got through to ask about DS's and it's with a decision maker (scan date 21st March, even though I posted them together!) Lady on the phone said it's taking 16-17 weeks now. Fingers crossed for everyone!

barelyfunctional · 12/07/2023 11:08

Argh I’ve missed a call, got an immediate text saying they’d phone back between 11am and 2pm, hoping they actually do… assuming this means one of my claims is with a dm and they need more info

I have read quite a lot about hrc is only awarded if the child has substantial night needs.
Ehcp, and all help/care during the day will only be awarded with mrc.
i completely get your frustration but when you have been waiting 16 weeks and people are being awarded from april dates when march arent even complete it can become quite tiresome. To then add that the DM keeps it on there pile for several days.

I wouldn’t have applied for my son if I wasn’t absolutely certain that he should be in receipt of HRC. I only mentioned the EHCP in regards to there being too much paperwork for it to be passed through so quickly. I’m not the only one, I’ve had contact from several people waiting from the same date I was and they all had their CoC denied. Some for HRM when their children are in wheelchairs/severely physically disabled. Whatever happened for claims around that date, there’s a collective of us who feel our applications were barely opened.

Sunnyshine12121 · 12/07/2023 11:23

Hi everyone can you please help me as to were it is I send a report from school please its just explaining more about my sons moods and the support he is receiving at school 10hrs a week 1 to 1 and then access to the sanco team at anytime he needs it . Is there any point in sending it in as its only 2 pages 🤔 thanks in advance

barelyfunctional · 12/07/2023 11:31

Phew they phoned back, just wanted to know whether or not he’d had a diagnosis in the wait time. The dm hasn’t finished looking at the claim yet to decide which rate but has said we’ll definitely be getting something!

I would definitely do a MR and if no luck there go to tribunal.
only us as parents know how much care we give to our children.
ive heard some shocking reasons why people have been declined
