DLA Wait Times 2023 (Part 10)

Hi All,

I have been reading previous threads related to this which all seem to be full so apologies if this is wrong (Im new). Applied for DLA for my 18month old son, scan date was 11/04 and had letter saying upto 15 weeks for a decision. Question is, i received a 2nd letter from DWP asking for my sons original birth certificate to be sent in and it would be sent back immediately. Has anybody else had this?

Thats amazing. I sent diagnosis report etc with mine. So hopefully it will be awarded.
Ill give them a call tomorrow if i dont hear anything. Do you know when yours went to a Dm?

Been awarded high rate care but nothing for mobility apparently 3 year olds don't get it , called them now I have to appeal the mobility 😩 has anyone had to do this ?? Scan date was 21st they have backdated me to the 21st of feb also ☺️

I think under 5s can only get high rate mobility and it’s quite strict criteria, for low rate mobility they have to be age 5 and up

My little girl has got HRC & HRM since she was 3 and just been renewed both same again. I sent a lot of evidence in though xx

From what i have seen its a very strict criteria and you must meet every point for your child to get mobility under the age of 5.
just before childs 5th birthday they will send forms for you to apply for the mobility part.

@LannieO woo hoo.... I got a text. (not love island 😂) He qualified for dla... The relief is insane. Don't know what yet but I grateful whatever it may be after that wait x

Yes the lady said when he's 5 but because he's an absolute lunatic as soon as we leave the house screams buts punches bites the whole lot and runs straight into roads she said I should appeal as he's a danger to him self and others , he's none verbal can't explain danger or calm him down so I basically stay home 🫣 thank you all 😊

I'm on hold currently and u know I'm only wasting my time as I'll probably receive a text to say when a decision has been made. Do they notify you by text if your claim isn't successful or is it only if it is?

I’m 21st as well and I’ve heard nothing. Was told yesterday it was with a DM and was told that again this morning. Tried to call at 4pm and was waiting til 5.30 when I was cut off. I am also starting to think I must have been declined. Part of me just thinks I need to forget about it and move on as I have become completely obsessed and it feels like it’s taking over my life! Sounds dramatic, but 😫

Also, congrats to the people who have been awarded today - as much as I am struggling with my not knowing about my claim, it is genuinely nice to see people getting awarded the money their children need 🤗

No not dramatic at all I understand.. you just go over and over it...At this point im prepairing for the worst I just hope my son gets the support he needs but seems like that's a big fight away yet.

Congratulations to all who have been awarded! Could someone help me understand something I’m confused about. When you get accepted dla, what’s the child element? Is that just a one of payment or is this added on evert month with the dla? I’ve not heard of this I thought it was just dla you receive then Carer’s allowance if you wish to?

It depends, your child has to actually have a disability of some sort or be struggling in areas. It's more for the child then the parent and I think it's monthy to help with there care needs. Not sure about carers allowance though sorry

My daughters on pathway for autism and just waiting on the decision as with a paediatrician and just been accepted for ehcp so I’m hoping to get accepted to help with her needs as doctor told me to send of for the dla but keep seeing child element pop up lol all so confusing I’m new to all this

Really disheartening to go another day hearing nothing and seeing people with scan dates over a week later than mine getting their texts (obviously very happy for those people!)

Added onto the endless waiting lists that we never seem to reach the top of, it leaves me feeling very forgotten!

I feel the same, especially after seeing people with the same scan date as me be awarded today. When I phoned yesterday I was told that it should go to the DM any day now however, when I phoned today I was met by a rather antsy woman who was clearly annoyed by the phone call and told me to wait another week or 2 😩I don't think the people on the phones actually have any clue about how long it will take, they can only see if it has gone to the DM or not. I've got my fingers crossed I hear SOMETHING this week, even if it is that the claim is unsuccessful! This week can just do one anyway, my cars broken down and I don't live within walking distance to my daughters school anymore so I had to get a taxi to pick her up, cost me £22! Going to have to take the bus in the morning but last time I did that it took us over an hour because they are so flamin' unreliable. Anyway, sorry, rant over 😂
