Hi All,

I have been reading previous threads related to this which all seem to be full so apologies if this is wrong (Im new). Applied for DLA for my 18month old son, scan date was 11/04 and had letter saying upto 15 weeks for a decision. Question is, i received a 2nd letter from DWP asking for my sons original birth certificate to be sent in and it would be sent back immediately. Has anybody else had this?

Thanks

I informed UC of new DLA status on 9th June, and it's only today I received a message in my journal informing me of Carer/Disability element Backpay and the amount I will be getting. So I'm hoping I receive it this week. My regular UC payment is due next Monday but the statement does not included the Backpay amount so I'm guessing it's paid separately

Hi. How do I do this I am also on UC my daughter previously had DLA both high rate for 3 years I forgot to change address so had to re apply she got accepted for DLA yesterday. What do I do and how do I let UC know. I didn’t know I was eligible for carers or disability benifit? Any advice would be great Thankyou! Xx

Hi @Mamaclo

Go into your uc account and all the bits I've circled in green is where you make the required changes. Inform them you are now a carer in the 'caring for someone' section, update that your child is on DLA in the 'children and other people who live with you' section, and write a little note in the 'payments' bit saying when your award started and tell them you want to be backpaid your carer and disabilities elements from that date also.

So useful, thank you. How long do they take to sort this out?x

Sweetsweetlike1 · 05/07/2023 00:44

@Mamaclo I put all my changes in on 9th June and only got feedback and told of my Backpay amount earlier (Yesterday), so I'm assuming I will receive payment later this week, as I've seen other threads where people said it came a few days after the amount was confirmed/agreed

Ah ok ok, how far do they backdate you from or does it go on something else?x

Sweetsweetlike1 · 05/07/2023 02:22

@MENTALHEALTHMUMMY I assumed they would backdate me to the DLA award date, however, the date UC gave me for Backpay was a date of 10 days prior to my DLA award date🤷🏽‍♀️. I don't know if my UC assessment period has something to do with the weird dating. But regardless, the Backpay is supposed to be from when the DLA starts and nothing less

Sweetsweetlike1 · 05/07/2023 10:00

If you've recently been awarded and it covers the period of 1st April, you can report your missing 'cost of living' payment from today 😊

So my scan date is the 21/3/23 I called this morning and it’s not even with a DM. I’ve called a few times and I get told stuff that’s different every time. I get there busy I really do but it’s getting a joke now. I wasn’t bothered till week 13 when I see people saying it’s going to take longer

It's averaging at 15 or 16 weeks according to other threads. I got award last month and it took 15weeks and 1 day

Hi, scan date 20/03 rang yesterday was told 16 weeks till it’s even with a decision maker 😭. May ring again tomorrow. Good luck 🤞 xx

Hannahkate90 · 05/07/2023 11:28

@Mummyto4boysxaww hopefully not too much longer for you. I only asked on off chance after ringing to update info after a last min meeting with his senco teacher today but I did ring yesterday morn for update and he told me the same 16 week to allocation and it would be within the month for decision there seems to be no order or truth to any of what they say. Thankyou 🤞 good luck also with your claim.

Chloe1233 · 05/07/2023 12:55

My scan dates the 5th April I rang this morning and they told me I would have a decision within 3 weeks

I would give it until about 3:15 and phone back up I bet you’ll have a decision. I phoned Tuesday morning they said claims aren’t being looked at until 16 weeks plus. I got a text Tuesday afternoon saying my daughter had been awarded I phoned up today and they made the decision Tuesday afternoon xx

Definitely do ring up. I rang yesterday and my claim wasn’t even with the decision maker. Just got off of the phone now and my son was awarded this morning. And she said money will be in my bank on Monday xx

Mumoftwobeautys · 05/07/2023 13:21

Hi , how do you do this please x

Hannahkate90 · 05/07/2023 15:56

@Mamaclo I'm trying again now they'll be sick of me phoning im stuck on hold as usual hoping there's some good news as I'm doubtful as I don't think I've sent enough evidence in.xx
@Mummyto4boysx that's amazing news congratulations xx

The only evidence I sent in was my sons ASD diagnosis letter as I’m still waiting for the report to be sent out from the doctor everything is just so slow. Honestly good luck you will probably be awarded now too if not by tomorrow. I wasn’t expecting to be told my son was awarded when I rang up this afternoon as yesterday wasn’t even with a decision maker. Keep us updated and fingers crossed for you xx

I had a decision for my daughter on the 21st June saying she's been awarded dla does that mean we will miss out on the cost of living payment awarded from the 9th March

Someone said you can request it as a missing payment on the gov website all you have to do is put your daughters name date of birth and ref number on your letters from DLA and they should give it. I done it today and it said will let you know within 2 weeks xx

Catsandcupcakes · 05/07/2023 17:04

Has anyone been ringing up for regular checks on their claim? Or is that a bad idea?
