saying I am chasing should have decision tomorrow or Monday after bank holiday

wendyamatt · 31/05/2022 16:33

Im 30th March too.... My boy is 12 in 2 weeks , has an EHCP and goes to a special school... the wait is a nightmare!!

StormySam · 31/05/2022 16:45

When you all phone what options are you choosing as I am just permanently on hold with "our lines are very busy" over and over? Just can't seem to get through. Mine was scanned as a new claim on 9th March and I've been trying to get through for days (going via option 6 right at the end).

Katelouise95 · 31/05/2022 16:57

@StormySam that’s the same for me, they answer after about 45 mins on hold!

CbennB · 31/05/2022 17:01

Hi all. I’m new to the thread. My daughters was scanned on 23rd March. I’ve just called them for the first time and the lovely lady on the phone said it was with the decision maker. So hopefully it won’t be too much longer. The wait is tough but threads like this really help 😊

Ltb17 · 31/05/2022 17:02

@CbennB mines same date as yours, I haven't called at all yet. Too scared to hear it's been declined

OP posts:
CbennB · 31/05/2022 17:17

@Ltb17 Me too, but it’s been so bloody long, I wanted to know either way. The lady was nice enough and checked all details were up to date. I don’t know how long it takes once with the DM. They may need to talk to the teachers which may delay things as it’s half term.
Fingers crossed it will be soon though.

StormySam · 31/05/2022 17:22

I was wondering if there were any tips about best time to call etc as I can't sound my days being on hold. I feel like I should have definitely heard by now.

kbe15 · 31/05/2022 17:41

Hey everyone,

They received the claim for my daughter on 26th May so guessing I have a long wait 😂 hope everyone hears back soon! My daughter is only 8 months so I know I'm going to have a fight on my hands!

Melb1986 · 31/05/2022 17:54

claim dated 18th March , finally called today after an hour on hold told my son been awarded high rate care thank god it’s over . Wishing every one luck . I could of cried when she said that he had been awarded . Don’t think they understand how much the awards are needed .

Morph22010 · 31/05/2022 18:45

Well I think I nay have just broken the world for renewal time. Sent about 2.5 weeks ago. Got letter today acknowledging receipt on 18 may, letter dated 24 may

opened next letter and it was the award also dated 24 may. We got middle rate care and lower rate mobility which is whst we had before

Morph22010 · 31/05/2022 18:46

*broken the world record thst should say

Morph22010 · 31/05/2022 18:55

Just noticed it’s been awarded for 5 years to day before his 17th birthday so thst was my last ever dla form

Ilovetea13 · 31/05/2022 18:58

Glad I found new thread was following the old one 😊 mine was scanned 31st March no word yet I reckon I'm looking at another 2-3 weeks.

Sarah3587 · 31/05/2022 19:24

@kbe15 yes you’re more than likely going to have a fight on your hands for your 8 month old as they need constant care anyway. What is it you’re claiming for if you don’t mind me asking?

No I don't mind you asking! Unfortunately my daughter had a stroke at birth which has left her with numerous amounts of issues and then she was diagnosed with infantile spasms so has multiple seizures

Ah8622 · 31/05/2022 20:06

new to thread but have been following for a while. My forms were scanned on 18th March, checked my bank this morning to see that I’m expecting a payment tomorrow. Called up and have been awarded high rate care and low rate mobility. Used to get low rate care and mobility, forgot to send renewal forms back on time so had to do a new claim. I have now put in a claim for carers allowance, does anyone know how long that usually takes to process?

Sarah3587 · 31/05/2022 20:22

@kbe15 I’m so sorry to hear that! Sounds very similar to my daughter. She’s 9 now and was receiving high rate until it ran out. I didn’t think to claim until she was 5 year old. I’m keeping everything crossed for you for a good outcome!!

Sarah3587 · 31/05/2022 20:23

@Ah8622 last time I claimed carers I received it in less than 2 weeks including the back pay.

Ah8622 · 31/05/2022 20:28

Thank you, that’s good news

Thank you. Did your daughter have a stroke? I'm not holding much hope but worth a try to try and get her some extra help. Does your daughter still get help? How is she doing? X

Sarah3587 · 31/05/2022 20:55

She has a genetic metabolic disorder called galactosaemia that went undiagnosed for 3 weeks as a newborn. Most baby’s don’t make it beyond 1 week. She got septicaemia, swollen liver etc and brain damage. She wasn’t checked for a stroke but it was suspected because she lost the use of her legs and it took months for her to recover. She’s ok now but Can’t talk properly at 9, has a weak left side. Tremor, learning issues etc and nocturnal seizures.
it’s hard for us parents to really quantify the level of disability our children have because we see beyond it so only really those that don’t know my daughter the way I do will truly see the severity of her condition.
I’m not saying you won’t get awarded but if you don’t, it will only be because of her age.
My daughter started off with middle rate care no mobility and then high rate care low mobility at years old.

I have no idea how people achieve high rate mobility for their children who aren’t in wheelchairs because my daughter uses a wheelchair most days and we’ve never had any luck with getting hrm.

Sarah3587 · 31/05/2022 20:56

Last message was hrc at 9 years old. Forgot to add the age lol

Nicky80catri · 31/05/2022 22:11

Legofigure · 31/05/2022 22:23
