@Nicky80catri it's frustrating lol I've just seen someone on Facebook say they've told her they are working on 28th April, that has to be a mistake lol

@Needanewadventure2021 has your child been referred for any mental health services like point one or anything for counselling, or any emotional support in place at school?

OP posts:
Nicky80catri · 30/05/2022 15:55

@Ltb17 that can't be true surely.... Think they are confused or just lying lol 🤣😅🤣 x

Needanewadventure2021 · 30/05/2022 15:55

Yes two types of therapy in school and the doctor has made his 3rd urgent referall this morning

NoWordForFluffy · 30/05/2022 15:57

I think they meant 28 March. As loads of us are before that date without a response!

Ltb17 · 30/05/2022 15:59

@Nicky80catri no I wouldn't have thought so but then I've seen another woman say she sent hers a week ago and had money in her account today. Mental

@Needanewadventure2021 who have they done an urgent referral to? My gps done urgent referrals to caahms and each time they come back and say because we aren't under social services or members of armed forces they can't speed it up. Even though gp has said he's a danger to himself and others. I thinks it's crazy how long children are expected to wait for help, sorry if I annoy anyone here but drug addicts get help at the click of a finger yet children are left to suffer!

Needanewadventure2021 · 30/05/2022 16:01

CAMHS. they have told me they will only become involved if he is Hospitalised through self harm. Its totally unacceptable

Needanewadventure2021 · 30/05/2022 16:02

I agree. I am so heartbroken how children are being let down

Ltb17 · 30/05/2022 17:23

@NoWordForFluffy yeah I think you're right.

@Needanewadventure2021 yeah that's just awful, basically we have to risk our child being seriously hurt before they will take it seriously!

Though, she posted it at least twice that I saw. Weird to repeat the mistake. 🤔

Scanner20 · 30/05/2022 18:14

Just received a text message to say my child qualifies for dla. Scan date 21st March. Thank you to you all for the updates, I will keep fingers crossed for you all for an award and news soon. Defiantly kept me going, don't think I'll phone to find out I'm just relived go have an award right now. Wonder when the back pay will go in now being it's the long bank holiday..

Nicky80catri · 30/05/2022 18:18

@Scanner20 so pleased for you. I am still waiting 😹😹😹 x

Scanner20 · 30/05/2022 18:22

@Nicky80catri really hope you hear soon, guess it just depends on who's computer gets your case.

Nicky80catri · 30/05/2022 18:24

@Scanner20 did you apply because of asd and anxiety like me Hun. I am so stressed we won't get it x

Scanner20 · 30/05/2022 18:32

@Nicky80catri yes that's right, no idea what we've been awarded though. Just seen the post @Needanewadventure2021 about your son, I hope they do award you and the senco really did wrong by him. I'm surprised they called as heard usually only go by the evidence sent in.

Nicky80catri · 30/05/2022 18:33

@Scanner20 ok Hun thanks I am going to ring them tomorrow xx

Hopeful110 · 30/05/2022 18:56

Ahhh I found you all! My nerves have kicked in this week knowing a DM should have our claim Wednesday time! Ours was scanned 23rd March too! 😬

Bizzlemizzle · 30/05/2022 18:58

@Needanewadventure2021 Sorry to hear this, I'm very suprised they even contact school but for school to say what they have is disgusting.

When you sent the form who filled out the statement part for you? If it wasn't school that may be why they contacted them(You dont have to answer if you don't want).
Could you possibly ask school to write a brief report for you on headed paper about what they do for him for the MR?

I remember a few years ago when I asked his teacher to fill the statement and I felt like she sugar-coated everything to the point I really didn't want to send it as it went almost against what I was saying. This time round they didn't but this teacher is massively supportive and knows it was important not to.

NoWordForFluffy · 30/05/2022 19:07

but then I've seen another woman say she sent hers a week ago and had money in her account today. Mental

I've just seen this. I think this one is definitely lying!

Needanewadventure2021 · 30/05/2022 19:42

I was surprised too but the statement of reasons very clearly stated their decline was following a call to his school's SENCO.

I was the person who's claim was never allocated despite them working on claims a week after mine. Only 2-3 days later I got the decline over the phone which I burst out crying asking if they had even read his claim as it made no sense.

In the application his teacher agreed to do me a statement. I then had to keep chasing. She then finally admitted she was under strict orders than no one is to make any statements on my DS but the senco. This seemed absurd as his teacher sees him every day and had daily conversations about her concerns. When the senco finally agreed to become involved she still refused to write a statement and said I needed to give her details for them to contact her if they wish.

Baring in mind the decline was only a few weeks ago I have since had a meeting that contradicts all the declinations. He is having more intervention in school that i knew and needs more, even including his mobility due to poor muscle tone/development. Still they are adamant it's a problem at home as they don't see an agressive angry side, just a loud happy child who struggles with his emotions. I wouldnt call him happy at all unfortunately.

I'm currently waiting for the full report and details of what needs to be done inside and outside of school. I'm not even asking them, I'm going to use that for my MR. My friend is going to help. She helps with him and is livid what's happening when she's raised her own concerns with my DS.

Honestly he has really been failed

Bizzlemizzle · 30/05/2022 21:16

@Needanewadventure2021 I'm so sorry, I know the feeling of having to really push and feel like I'm not being beleived.

My son had to get a diagnosis for school to start taking me seriously and him really, I say just a diagnosis but it also took him assaulting me very badly in the playground and then another child later in the week for them to really ramp it up.

However, saying that he did mask at school because he wasn't comfortable, the new teacher he has he sees as a second mum so he lifted that mask off, until then behaviour wise they wouldn't back me up as he was "okay" there and he only had interventions for being behind academically all while I was becoming very poorly myself at home with stress and everything else that came with that.

I had to beg them to let him back at school during the lockdowns because I couldn't homeschool him (flat out refusal from him) and it worried me so much that academically, socially and emotionally he was dropping further and further behind.

You're not alone - I think that's my main point.
Keep fighting for what your child needs and deserves though! Sending you digital hugs also.

Needanewadventure2021 · 30/05/2022 21:26

Oh @Bizzlemizzle thank you. It really does feel like you're the only one when you are getting nowhere.

My son attacks at home. He does the worst only at home. I feel a prisoner in my own home right now. But I am also seeing things starting to happen outside the home. I'm talking his worst behaviour. I dont want it to make its way into school but sometimes I do feel that's what they need to see to do something. But his school are so reluctant they will probably see him as naughty. He used to get into trouble all the time for hitting people in reception for getting too close. It was always put down to bad behaviour which I always challenged. I know my child and he isn't a nasty child. There was always an underlying reason. My worry now is he is strong and his anger is frightening. I am sometimes scared of him and have to walk away. I wouldnt want him using that on a child

Needanewadventure2021 · 30/05/2022 21:30

Lockdown destroyed my boy. It changed him completely. I managed about 6 weeks terrified by the deterioration in him and was left with a boy who would no longer talk, ony screamed and cried, hurt himself constantly, was scratching his skin raw, washing obsessively. He wouldnt leave the house. School would not accept him back as he didn't fit the criteria. They only suggested we stopped all work. But we hadn't managed to do any anyway. His reaction to school work was absolutely devastating. His panic attacks are something I will never forget
