Anyone in Scotland making a new application? DLA/Child Disability Payment?

Hi everyone.

Not seeing much at all on support forums about the new Scottish child disability payment and wondered if anyone on here has recent experience of applying for the CDP in Scotland?

Afaik, all new applications from Scotland now need to go to Social Security instead of DWP and this has been in place since November 2021.

I made my child’s application at the start of the year about 7 weeks ago. Called today to ask for an update and was told it was with a case manager and I’ll be notified by letter once a decision has been made.

Apparently this new system is supposed to be faster and fairer than DLA? All current recipients of DLA living in Scotland should be getting moved over to CDP over the next year according to their website.

Anyway, if anyone has recently applied, I’m wondering how long it took all in for a decision to be reached?

Thanks.

Hi,
I applied for both my kids in July and now they’re saying there has been a pre-decision made on one of them and it just needs to be confirmed and processed by the case manager’s manager. This has been since the 7th December.

Does anyone have any experience of how long this stage took?

Have you heard anything yet? I was on webchat today and told it was at final stage (passed to case managers manager) and the web chat advisor advised me to keep an eye on my bank account next week as if awarded it would likely be funds appear before letter and it's normally really quick at this stage (my case manager phoned me on the 22nd for more information about how long we were up in the night so would either have been 23rd or 28th it was passed based on holidays)

@Bambi1609 I got told the same thing for my son’s and it took around a week to 10 days for the case manager’s manager to sign off. I think this was a bit unusual though as it’s normally quicker but they said they only worked 3 days per week and the decision was made just before the weekend.

I got told they’d signed off on the 14th December and a letter had been issued and I received a backdated payment for high rate care on the 19th. I also received a backdated payment for my daughter on the 23rd for high rate care and low rate mobility. This was completely unexpected as I’d called on the 19th and told there was still no decision. I got a text on the 20th saying I’d receive a payment on the 23rd but I presumed this was the Scottish child payment.

If your child has been awarded I would expect money to reach your account within the next week or 2. I still haven’t received any letters so they definitely take a while.

I know they are normally a bit slower with letters (the carers allowance supplement always reaches me before the letter saying it will does) especially with backlog and strikes and public holidays. I tend to check my bank every morning but will feel a long wait 😂

Thanks for replying
