Anyone in Scotland making a new application? DLA/Child Disability Payment?

Hi everyone.

Not seeing much at all on support forums about the new Scottish child disability payment and wondered if anyone on here has recent experience of applying for the CDP in Scotland?

Afaik, all new applications from Scotland now need to go to Social Security instead of DWP and this has been in place since November 2021.

I made my child’s application at the start of the year about 7 weeks ago. Called today to ask for an update and was told it was with a case manager and I’ll be notified by letter once a decision has been made.

Apparently this new system is supposed to be faster and fairer than DLA? All current recipients of DLA living in Scotland should be getting moved over to CDP over the next year according to their website.

Anyway, if anyone has recently applied, I’m wondering how long it took all in for a decision to be reached?

Thanks.

Hi Smile

I made the CDP application for my son on 24th Jan and I only heard back today, so 6 and a half weeks.

I found there wasn’t much support for the application either and majority of people when I asked said they didn’t know or go to citizens advice. The only reason I knew what to write and the process in general is because my sister in law is a community midwife.

Hopefully you hear back soon! X

Hi, I sent my son's application away about 3 weeks ago. I'm not 100% sure if he'll qualify so waiting to hear but also dreading hearing too. Hope you got a decision @ScootScot

Polly421 · 03/04/2022 08:42

Polly421 · 05/04/2022 10:17

@roughtyping hopefully you won’t be waiting too much longer. I only submitted my sons 3 weeks ago so got alot of waiting time left.

Polly421 · 05/04/2022 14:42

@Paula2211 same I haven’t seen much about it. Well hopefully you hear soon as they aim within 6-8 weeks to make a decision. Don’t know how accurate that as not seen many posting about applying.

Paula2211 · 05/04/2022 14:52

Yes me either just a small few people that I have seen. Yes I hope I hear soon I will post if I hear anything. Hope you do not have to long to wait and you hear something soon also

Paula2211 · 08/04/2022 11:16

So I went online chat just now and a decision has been made yesterday for my daughter so 6 weeks exactly. The lady said a letter has been sent out with decision but she is not allowed to tell me my daughters outcome so I just have to wait. Fingers crossed it’s good news

Paula2211 · 08/04/2022 11:49

Hi hope you don’t mind me asking did you get letter first and then payment my daughter got a decision yesterday but not allowed to tell me over phone of the outcome and posted letter yesterday so said could be a few days.

roughtyping · 08/04/2022 20:10

Oh I'll need to try the web chat. I sent my son's off 7 weeks ago tomorrow.

Paula2211 · 08/04/2022 22:58

Yeah only took 5 mins but still have to wait for letter. Wish they would just tell me yes or no lol

Paula2211 · 08/04/2022 22:59

Paula2211 · 09/04/2022 12:02

@roughtyping someone got money in bank before letter I seen on dla waiting times 2022 they waited 6 weeks for a decision and 7 weeks for payment

Paula2211 · 09/04/2022 16:39

@Gracieloooo did you get letter first ?

Polly421 · 10/04/2022 11:53

@Paula2211 payments I’ve had in past from social security scotland have always went into bank before the letter arrived. So I would keep eye on your bank if a decision has been made. I’ve my fingers crossed that you’ve been awarded.

Paula2211 · 10/04/2022 13:59

@Polly421thankyou I’ll let you know I hope so

Paula2211 · 11/04/2022 11:23

@roughtyping have you heard anything?

Gracieloooo · 11/04/2022 19:38

@Paula2211 yeh I got letter first which gave the date of the first payment…but by the time the letter got to us the payment came in the next day! Fingers crossed for you. It’s a brilliant bit of extra support for us parents! X

Paula2211 · 11/04/2022 19:55

@Gracieloooo thank you for writing back that’s good to know yes definitely is. I hope it’s good news fingers crossed 🤞 . Glad you got awarded and got good news. I wasn’t sure as they made decision on Thursday but on online chat said they are not allowed to tell me my daughters outcome and said have to just wait for letter took them 6 weeks to make a decision x

Polly421 · 11/04/2022 20:05

We’re 4 weeks wait this week, seem positive so far that you’ve all heard around the 6 weeks mark. The nurse who comes out to see my son said so far she’s been hearing all positive news about it. I’m just hoping I’ve supplied them with enough evidence.

Paula2211 · 11/04/2022 20:56

@Polly421 you will probably hear soon. I’m hoping it’s better I sent everything I had evidence wise and someone said if they don’t have enough evidence to make a decision they will call you so I’m hoping I have sent enough and that’s why they have not phoned me . I hope you get awarded and all goes well.

Polly421 · 11/04/2022 21:30

My little boy is only 18months but the paediatric nurse who sees him wrote a brilliant support letter explaining his difficulties and how he does need far more care than a child with own age. And I sent his physio care plan and the occupational therapist gave us a support letter listing the aids they given us at home. So I’m hoping that enough for them to award him something. Hopefully it’s just a couple more weeks until I find out.

Paula2211 · 11/04/2022 22:02

Aw that seems like a good amount off detailed evidence I’m sure your son will be awarded something.
