Anyone in Scotland making a new application? DLA/Child Disability Payment?

Hi everyone.

Not seeing much at all on support forums about the new Scottish child disability payment and wondered if anyone on here has recent experience of applying for the CDP in Scotland?

Afaik, all new applications from Scotland now need to go to Social Security instead of DWP and this has been in place since November 2021.

I made my child’s application at the start of the year about 7 weeks ago. Called today to ask for an update and was told it was with a case manager and I’ll be notified by letter once a decision has been made.

Apparently this new system is supposed to be faster and fairer than DLA? All current recipients of DLA living in Scotland should be getting moved over to CDP over the next year according to their website.

Anyway, if anyone has recently applied, I’m wondering how long it took all in for a decision to be reached?

Thanks.

@Paula2211 nothing yet. I spoke on web chat yesterday and they said it's with a case manager and they're working through supporting information. It'll be 8 weeks on Sat since I sent it in. Just keeping everything crossed

Paula2211 · 12/04/2022 10:01

@roughtyping aw hope it’s not to much longer for you and hope you get awarded. Waiting is the worst part. I have still not had letter yet still waiting to hear about my daughters decision.Don’t know if a letter might come today or not.

Paula2211 · 12/04/2022 21:26

Just want say my daughter has been awarded so happy 😀 money went in my bank before the letter hope everyone gets good news soon x

Paula2211 · 12/04/2022 21:31

So was 6 weeks and 5 days in total

Polly421 · 12/04/2022 22:01

Brilliant @Paula2211 so happy for you and your daughter, such a relief as the extra money will help so much support her.

Polly421 · 12/04/2022 22:03

I’ll leave it until we hit the 6 weeks mark and then I’ll go on the online chat and see if they can give us an update.

Paula2211 · 12/04/2022 22:05

It really does Thankyou hope you also get awarded and don’t wait to long. Just wanted to post my experience as much as possible because there is not much info out there about this

Paula2211 · 12/04/2022 22:06

Yes definitely do that I would not have known if I had not chatted online

roughtyping · 13/04/2022 06:48

That's great @Paula2211, you must be very relieved!

Paula2211 · 13/04/2022 08:24

@roughtyping yes definitely. You won’t have a long wait now. Hope you get old news also

Paula2211 · 13/04/2022 08:32

Sorry meant good news also

Polly421 · 13/04/2022 09:37

@roughtyping fingers crossed you hear soon and it’s a positive outcome.

Polly421 · 19/04/2022 10:46

@roughtyping have you had any news on your claim yet?

roughtyping · 19/04/2022 19:48

@Polly421 no still nothing. Feel like it's not looking positive. Confused

Polly421 · 19/04/2022 20:03

@roughtyping it could simply be there still going through your supporting documents and although they aim for 6-8 weeks sometimes things can take a little longer.

roughtyping · 21/04/2022 12:58

@Polly421 spoke on web chat again today as we're moving house next week - really thought I would've heard something by now - and apparently it hasn't been picked up by a case manager. Not sure why I was told 3 weeks ago that it had been. We submitted on 19th Feb. I actually feel a bit upset that it hasn't even been looked at yet. Everything just requires constant chasing up. Feeling really fed up today.

Polly421 · 21/04/2022 13:14

@roughtyping thats so frustrating. I spoke to an advisors today over phone to update them on my little one has been given another aid to help him stand and his physio plan has increased to factor in exercises using that. He did mention to me there is a backlog now with cases being located to a case manager as more people are applying and did tell me it’s highly likely we’ll be waiting over 8 weeks for a decision.

roughtyping · 21/04/2022 13:18

@Polly421 at least they gave you a reason! My wee one has been diagnosed with autism since I submitted the application but don't think there's much point updating as his care needs haven't changed. Fingers crossed you'll hear soon

Polly421 · 21/04/2022 13:31

@roughtyping we will be while yet as just 5 weeks we’ve been waiting but I thought it best I update them as he’s only 19 months and I’ve heard it can be more challenging when their younger to show additional care needs to a child his own age. Hopefully you won’t be waiting too much longer now.

AnxiteacupStorm · 22/04/2022 09:52

Weve been waiting from November, they only just picked it up at the end of March with a case manager.. someone said they’d made a decision on the 14th of Aprilbut yesterday said there wasn’t a decision or a decision letter made. They literally told us at one point they didn’t know what to do as they couldn’t find our dc’s on the system.. no explanation or anything. And no estimate on when we should know anything 6-8weeks my arse

Polly421 · 25/04/2022 13:03

@AnxiteacupStorm thats been a really long wait for you. I hope they make a decision soon for child soon. I’ve a few weeks yet by looks of it as only been 6 weeks this week.

Polly421 · 26/04/2022 16:57

@roughtyping and @AnxiteacupStorm have either of you heard any more about your claim?

AnxiteacupStorm · 28/04/2022 09:11

@Polly421 A decisions been made but we have to wait on the letter to see what.. not sure if that’s bad news or just following procedures.. and of course checking the bank to see what comes first the chicken or the egg 😂

Polly421 · 28/04/2022 09:15

@AnxiteacupStorm aww I hope it’s good news especially after your long wait. It’s likely if you’ve been awarded you’ll get a payment first so I would be the same checking the bank daily 🤣

AnxiteacupStorm · 28/04/2022 09:28

@Polly421 fitting the postman with W trackers surely justified 😂 I’ll pull a Britney if it’s been turned down after all of this 22weeks 😂
