Hi All,

I have ASD 2 years old boy and i sent DLA form for him in 7 dec 2021. But I haven’t received any news yet. How long is usually you get awarded?

The thing is i want to put my son in 2 years old nursery but i’m not eligible for 2 years old funding. I found the nursery that i like and my son can start there after easter but they want funding from the government.

There are another way to get funded by government is via DLA. I need to get the DLA first then i can apply for funding 2 years old in nursery. Do you know how is the process for apply funding 2 years old through DLA route??

Thank you

Emma94xx · 11/02/2022 12:16

They received my forms 12th December I reckon by end of March I'll have update

Emzi89 · 11/02/2022 12:37

@Emma94xx I got a letter this week apologising for the delay. I will look for your updates as mine shouldn't be long after yours. This waiting is driving me mad!

Emma94xx · 11/02/2022 12:59

Yes keep me updated! I've not received another letter yet about them taking longer then expected but will keep you posted, did you send more evidence in? My daughter is currently waiting for a diagnosis for autism, I only sent letter from her senco and dr

Sorry I meant much not more xx
Emzi89 · 11/02/2022 13:13

@Emma94xx no I didn't send any evidence at all! I did mean too but filling the forms in was stressful enough. I'm well prepared for if it comes to a mandatory reconsideration though lol.
Bless you it's so hard isn't it?! Especially with autism and the having to "prove" they need more help than a child of the same age! :(

Emma94xx · 11/02/2022 13:37

Yeah it's ridiculous! I won't even be happy if they try giving low rate care as I know she deserves more, I was thinking of calling actually but cause its not been 8 weeks they'll probably tell me to wait it out 🤣

BitcherOfBlakiven · 11/02/2022 14:21

I had a call today, the decision maker needed to speak to our MH nurse and my handwriting is so atrocious that he couldn’t make it out Blush.

Called me back an hour later, we have High Rate for both.

They scanned my documents on 7th October 2021 so it’s been a 19 week wait.

BitcherOfBlakiven · 11/02/2022 14:30

Ours is for Autism, ADHD and MH issues. We’re going through CAMHS, and we’re lucky enough that I’m registered at my Universities GP surgery where my GP is amazing and has a Mental Health nurse so we have those 3 plus schools SENCO whilst we’re waiting for the Paediatrician appointment, but I have ADHD/Autism and she strongly presents the same ways I do. She’s 11.

It is SO hard to prove. She has issues toileting, sleeping, and safety? Nope. She self harms with any random items she can get her hands on and I have to supervise her all the time.

Totally new claim. 19 weeks. I was starting to think they’d forgotten my application and I’ve been trying to ring all week and unable to get through.

I never got the confirmation letter OR a sorry it’s taking so long letter!
Abwill · 11/02/2022 19:16

Oh gosh i wonder why yours took as long as it did 19 weeks is ever such a long time for them to complete have they given you a explanation

Worriednow21 · 12/02/2022 10:25

I rang up to chase my sons renewal yesterday was told its currently taking 16 weeks for claims to be looked at. His runs runs out early March and was told it won't get looked at till the date it runs out.

BitcherOfBlakiven · 12/02/2022 23:32

Nope, no apology or explanation and I didn’t want to piss them off by asking! I’m still shocked we got HR for both first try with no MR or appeal. I mean, I sent a LOT of paperwork and they’ve spoke directly to our team BUT DNeph has a physical disability and DSis had to do an MR and I had to write a huge essay comparing him to my DDs (a year older and a year younger) to hammer home that he needed far more supervision than a child close to their ages (3, 2, 1) and that I had him 40% of the time (which I did, she had severe PND and was single) so witnessed this a lot.

Melissamarie789 · 13/02/2022 14:38

Hello, I applied / sent forms back end of august. One claim got backdated to July the other didn’t! Anyway I heard around a week apart and I sent both forms off same day end of august 31.8.21 and we heard 7th of November. I hope this helps. Can’t believe the delays are still huge x

clairedavey · 15/02/2022 09:50

Hi all i am new here i sent mine off and got a text saying they recieved on 2nd december and was told last friday i should hear within a week. I am nervous as my son has only just been referred to cahms and also no official diagnosis yet. I was unable to send evidence except a copy of things he does on a bad day a diary kind thing. I heard nothing at moment but feel unsure to if we will get it.

Abwill · 15/02/2022 10:35

Hiya @clairedavey mine was received on the 3rd i havent heard either it is for my youngest who has a heart condition qnd suspected adhd and sensory needs , do not worry my eldest wasnt even on the pathway when we applied last year i sent nothing but the name and number of our occupational therapist he got awarded mrc lrm for 2 years , he has asd and the umbrella of things that go along with it . Its hard not to worry especially in this last week of waiting it is hard i keep checking my bank because usally you get a payment before award letter x

Melissamarie789 · 15/02/2022 12:35

My son was 18m when we applied and I only had a letter saying he’s been referred to child development clinic however I did copy that letter as evidence and just added extra information on the end about my son as a whole. Whenever I sent off my other sons in 2020 we had no letters they declined it. I think it’s def worth sending copies though they can request info from the doctor etc but this would take longer too. Dla luckily is done on need not diagnosis. Fx you get it L.

clairedavey · 15/02/2022 13:00

@Abwill yeah it first time applying and only applied without diagnosis cos jobcentre advised me to and we homeschool so yeah trying to keep self occupied lol but is so hard not to think about it thanks for the reassurance
